Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1406: Chapter 1406: Because Enna Clark Cares Chapter 1406: Chapter 1406: Because Enna Clark Cares Outside, Adam Sinclair checked the man on the sofa after helping him reattach the IV drip, “All set, no problems now.”

Baron Lawrence furrowed his brows, he didn’t want to get involved, but remembering the woman’s earlier anxious and worried expression, he still asked, “What happened to you?”

Adam discarded the used syringe into the trashcan, his face tense and his usual smile of an elegant young master absent. He seemed reluctant to talk about it. However, since it was Baron Lawrence asking, he fell silent for a moment and then said, “Nothing much, my mom somehow got wind of something, and ran all the way to Country W to find Olivia Lewis, resulting in a bit of a conflict.”

Although the Sinclair Family wasn’t as wealthy as the Lawrence Family, they definitely were at the pinnacle of the social pyramid, especially with significant achievements in the medical field. They maintained extremely close relationships with many prominent families. Besides medicine, the Sinclair’s businesses also spanned entertainment and real estate. Adam Sinclair, for instance, bore the title of Professor and also controlled many resources within the entertainment industry.

To his knowledge, the Sinclair family had better interpersonal relations than Rupert Harris’s family, but they weren’t much better.

The Sinclair Family’s real authority lay with Adam’s father. However, besides Adam, there were two illegitimate sons outside the family.

Because Adam’s mother was dominant and kept a tight rein on the family, these two illegitimate sons had not been exposed or allowed into the Sinclair companies yet.

One of these sons, just as cunning as his mother, somehow persuaded Adam’s father to learn medicine, and although he didn’t enter the Sinclair companies, he got into one of their subsidiary hospitals. His outstanding performance in medical studies had earned Adam’s father’s appreciation.

Adam’s mother certainly didn’t want an illegitimate child stealing what belonged to Adam, so she had always urged him to marry a woman from a family of similar standing to secure his position.

In the past, Adam was so hounded by these concerns that, combined with his family’s wealth, he lived quite a playboy lifestyle.

Adam’s mother, having no way to deal with him, turned a blind eye and decided to let the issue rest, hoping he would settle down eventually.

This sudden trip to Country W to find Olivia must have been spurred by someone whispering in her ear that Adam’s relations with Olivia weren’t merely a fling, but that real feelings were involved. That’s why she lost her composure and confronted Olivia.

First, to teach Olivia a lesson, and secondly, to assert her stance.

Baron Lawrence was no stranger to such situations. Being part of this circle, he had seen his share of similar cases. Before he met Enna Clark, he too believed in marrying a woman of equal social status rather than relying on feelings.

But after meeting Enna Clark… all that turned to nonsense!

“What do you plan to do?” There wasn’t much for one man to say to another, and Baron Lawrence’s question was simple and direct.

A flash of helplessness crossed Adam’s eyes as he looked at him and said with resignation, “What can I do? I’ll just have to deal with things as they come.”

“Given Olivia’s character, she won’t agree to be your mistress. You need to make a decision quickly,” Baron Lawrence cut to the chase.

Adam’s expression grew even more resigned, “I know she won’t. If she would, she wouldn’t be herself.”

He remembers how, once upon a time, she managed to hide her pregnancy from him, dumped him, and then resolutely went to the hospital to terminate the pregnancy alone, a testament to her strong-willed nature.

He knew the reason Olivia had been willing to stay by his side over the past two years was simply a stopgap, that she was held there under the pressure of his power and status.

Perhaps during their prolonged interaction, she might have seen him in a new light, but that slap she received must have erased whatever affection she had left.
