Chapter 8: Chapter - 8: A Circus

The show was really great. I never could have thought that magic can be used in such an elegant manner.

Of course there was no strong firepower in those magic spells but there was grace.

Also those aura user performers use their body in impossible ways, jumping from every angle and gliding through fire.

Also there was one guy who rode an over 2 meter tall wild titan rhino like a regular horse.

”Father, isn’t that like using Chlorinita?”

”Indeed, they are using ’Chlorinita’ to prevent catching the fire, and that rhino might have been given ’Bronixida’ for soothing”

I heard the voices of the father and daughter duo.

It sounds like they are talking about alchemy.

Wait a minute. Bob cut hair, emerald green eyes and an alchemist family.

She should be Lily Besant, heroine’s friend who is although commoner but from a prestigious alchemist family.

”Please stop spoiling it for us”

Ian who was sitting in my right and directly besides that girl said with a displeased expression.

”S-sorry”

Lily replied. She is a shy type of character.

Meanwhile a man in black cloak appeared on the stage.

”Thank you for coming here all of you lovely guests. I am your trickmaster Cornwallis”

”I am going to perform the climax act of our show and I need a volunteer for this final act”

The man said and looked throughout the audience.

”How about you our young guest? Would you like to help me in this final act?”

The man said while pointing towards me.

More importantly, the name ’Cornwallis’ seems to ring a bell in my head, but I just can’t exactly remember who he was in the game.

”Yeah! Kai go for it!”

Ian urged me to go. Other audiences also seem to be looking here.

Urged by Ian I walked up to the stage while trying to recall information about this guy called Cornwallis.

Cornwallis, Cornwallis, criminal Cornwallis!

Now I remember it!

He appeared in one of the routes as a criminal backed by a fanatical member of the commoner’s faction.

There are three political factions in the kingdom, the noble faction, the Commoner faction and the neutral faction.

This Cornwallis was backed by one of the extreme fanatical members of the faction.

He was a criminal involved in child trafficking.

In the game the heroine and the capture target catches him and uncovers the crimes by that member of the commoner faction.

I am suddenly feeling really uneasy!

There was no record of Cornwallis’s circus background in the game so I don’t know if he is yet a criminal or not.

”Dear guest, would you like to tell us your name?”

”My name is Kai”

I gave a very short reply and purposely avoided telling my family name.

”Please stand there sir”

Cornwallis signals me to stand on some kind of platform. It is a black platform with some kind of engraving.

By the prop I can already guess the trick he is going to do.

The prop has four sides laying in the four directions, those when up together will form a box.

Magic to make people disappear from inside the box. I have heard of it and seen it on TV in my previous life.

But this is a true magic world so the method should be different.

Then that engraving should be a magic circle for teleportation.

Come to think of it, why does the original Kai despise the commoners?

There was no answer in the game but it’s definitely not his upbringing.

If I act like that without any big reason then I’ll be grounded by Mother.

Could it be there is going to be some kind of an incident?

My uneasiness intensified.

What should I do? Is this some unseen event?

”Please dear guest”

Cornwallis urged me to step up to the platform with the magic circle.

I can’t make a big scene when I am not even sure of his crime.

Think about it boy! Think about it!

What should I do!

Looking at the magic circle, suddenly an idea popped up in my mind.

Let’s completely spoil his trick.

I quietly walked onto the platform, at the same time I activated my ’Wind Vision’.

Cornwallis signals his helpers to close the box, so they erected the walls of the box.

The lengthened part of the back is folded to become the top of the box.

As soon as the box gets closed, I activate my magic.

’Wind Disc’ a magic formed by a spinning wind slash, excels in cutting.

I used this to make some cuts on the joints in the engraving that looks important.

It’s a known fact that a simple cut in a magic circle can cause errors, so I made several to completely immobilize its functionality.

........

Meanwhile in a quiet room built not far from the Cama family’s mansion.

It’s an interrogation room used personally by Simuka Cama, head of the information department of the Yona kingdom.

”That’s it my lord”

A knight gave a report of an interrogation to Count Simuka.

[Author:- I will be using ** for the internal thoughts as I noticed that the italic fonts from my device aren’t compatible with the webnovel’s audio reading]

*So his lord is a member of the commoner faction. He said that they were ordered to only monitor the Shen family’s activities, if they have any connection to the noble faction?*

*That’s a clear Lie!*

*There was no need to monitor the Shen family when they were already members of the nuclear faction*

Simuka thought while listening to the knight’s report outside the room.

The knight has just interrogated the suspicious man that Kira had caught tailing the carriage.

”Alright, you stay guarded here, I will handle him myself”

Simuka said as he entered the room.

There that suspicious man named Vodka was leaning besides a wall in a pitiful condition.

His skin has turned red and his face as well as other body parts are swollen from the severe beating.

”Now speak up”

Simuka asked with a straight face like he is certain that the man has not told them the truth.

”I have already told you everything, I really don’t know anything else”

The man replied with an almost crying expression, if it were someone else they would have believed him but not Simuka.

”Looks like you will not be conceding with just normal methods, fine then”

A gem in Simuka’s belt flashed with a dim light as a magic staff appeared in his hand.

The belt is actually a storage type magic tool.

Next moment Simuka casts a magic spell but there is no change in the surroundings.

”Ugh!”

The man cried out in agony.

Simuka has a unique magic attribute he inherited from his father, ’Sound’.

Sound is a rare attribute and so the spells related to it, using such a rare power requires immense control.

”S-stop it! Please i beg you!”

Simuka stops the magic.

There is already blood flowing out of the man’s ears, his hearing is damaged.

”So are you ready to speak?”

Simuka asked with an especial sound transmission spell since the man doesn’t seem to be capable of understanding normally.

”My master’s son wa..was caught buying an orphan girl as a slave in Shen’s territory”

”Even after trying several means Marquis didn’t release him, s-so my master planned revenge, he said son for a son”

”He thought that the Marquis who is dealing with the sea monster and the marchioness who was trying to solve the orphanage problem will not be able to come to the capital”

The man said until here and stopped, but simuka also no longer needed to hear further to know their plan.

”Kai who is born in the same year as the prince would have to visit the capital only with the knights who are not grand mages right?”

”So he sent you as a scout but you got caught, so what do you think he is going to do?”

The man didn’t reply to that question.

Though he told Simuka his master’s name in the end so Simuka didn’t ask further about it either.

”Send a servant and call back kids from the circus”

Simuka exited the room and ordered his knight.

*I need to get all the information about ’him’ and his black business and submit to proofs to the royal court.
