Chapter 7: Chapter - 7:- The Royal Capital

Finally after the end of this summer the time for the first event of the game is about to arrive.

The tenth birthday party of the main capture target, second prince Lucian Ripon.

In the Royal Family it’s a custom to hold a grand party on the tenth birthday of a prince and princess to make it their debut in the noble society.

The invitation has already arrived and we are preparing to leave two days later.

We will be staying at the mansion of my uncle, honorary Count Simuka Cama.

He is my mother’s younger brother and the head of the information department in the Royal capital.

[Author: don’t mind my naming sense, I was studying history and randomly picked the name for side characters]

Now back to the present, we are enjoying tea in our garden while Mother was reminding me what to pack for the trip.

”By the way, thanks to your suggestion the problem of orphanages is solved”

Mother brought the topic of orphanages, now that I remember the incident occurred a few months ago when we caught the director of an orphanage who was trying to sell a female child as a slave.

My body almost went numb when I heard about that.

Although I was born a noble in this life, I always think that what if I was not this fortunate? What if I had reincarnated as a commoner or even an orphan?

I am no genius or specialist.

I was just a highschooler in my previous life and if I had reincarnated as an orphan then my condition had been no different than those kids.

After hearing about the incident, I came up with an idea and told it to my mother who takes care of welfare related work.

I suggested that we should hire survey officers to monitor all orphanages by frequent visits and checking the report prepared by the orphanage staff.

I also suggested making a cycle according to which the same officer will not be visiting the same orphanage twice in a row.

By changing the visiting officer frequently we can keep a check on corruption as well.

Surveillance officers are pretty common in the modern world in my previous life.

Like education officers, excise department and income tax officers but such posts are very undermined here.

This new management was established last month and after finishing all the necessary work, Mother is finally free to tag along on the trip.

Otherwise I had to go only with the servants and knights.

since my father is also busy due to the recent sea monsters appearance in the coastal area near the city and is currently investigating that.

”This will be a really big occasion for you, since at the first prince’s tenth birthday you were too young”

”Yeah, that was four years ago. At that time I went with Father, but it’s not a big occasion for me, it’s prince Lucian’s big occasion”

”Aren’t you at least a bit excited for the party? You know I received Adelia’s letter and she said that Elena is very excited about it, so act your age and show some excitement”

That’s because it’s her first time going there.

Elena didn’t attend the first Prince’s birthday party.

Allia is the heir of the family so Elena who was just around five years old at the time didn’t attend.

But I am not gonna spell it out, let’s just act like a nine year old excited kid.

This ’event’ has nothing to do with me anyway.

I sipped my tea while thinking about the details of the ’event’.

...

The day before the birthday party.

Mother and I are heading towards the royal capital of Yona Kingdom ’Lothus City’ in our carriage.

Looking outside the window, the landscape full of trees is really beautiful.

I activated my ’Wind Vision’ to better observe the surroundings, but I suddenly saw a really suspicious figure.

It is a person in all black, with a black mask covering his face, like a ninja.

He seems to be like a messenger or an assassin, but the question is why is he monitoring us?

Then I noticed more people like him running behind the trees stealthily.

I turned my head and was surprised as I saw my mother holding her magic staff, she is holding it in an angle in which it is not visible from outside the carriage.

She is already using magic!

Mother must have noticed those people before I did, after all she is a grand mage and her vision is already at the level of senses.

A small almost invisible figure released from the staff and swiftly went out of the carriage, gliding close to the ground.

It is completely composed of the wind element and the only reason I was able to see it is because of my ’Wind Vision’.

The figure reached one of the men in black and turned into a humanoid figure made out of wind.

Clasping both its hands in front, it created a hurricane which encircled the suspicious man.

”Huh!”

The man’s subordinates let out surprised voices as they attacked the humanoid figure.

But their attacks just passed through it since it was made up of wind.

That was ’Wind Doll’, Mother’s magic core ability.

Magic core is something that sometimes can be found in strong monsters or magic beasts after their death.

Humans and few other intelligent species can absorb these magic cores to gain the monster’s ability.

Of course it has huge limitations.

First of all a normal magic user can only absorb a single magic core in his whole life unless it advances to the level of a grand mage.

After reaching the grand mage level it can absorb a second magic core.

Then there’s also the highest and very rarely seen ’Sage’ level, after reaching which the person can absorb their third magic core.

Three magic cores is the highest limitation as no being can absorb more than that, and Sage is the highest level a magic user can ever reach.

Both my parents are Grand Mages with two magic cores, and this was one of Mother’s two magic core abilities.

”Knights! Capture him!”

Mother ordered the knights while using magic to bring the guy stuck in the hurricane towards our carriage.

The man’s subordinates who saw all this, ran away in agitation.

The knights captured the man as soon as the hurricane disappeared.

They knocked out and bound the man and threw him in the servant’s carriage.

Normally we would send the captive to Cerulean city but there’s no need.

We have a perfect person who knows how to extract information from criminals in the capital.

...

After that there was no trouble in the trip as we safely reached the Cama family’s mansion in the capital.

There my uncle Simuka welcomed us with his wife Laya, son Ian and daughter Chloe.

Ian is around the same age as me, and Chloe is four years younger than us.

In the game, Ian was a minor npc who sometimes gives helpful information to the heroine.

He has black hair and brown eyes just like his father, by his appearance one may think that he is from adventure’s family instead of a noble.

”Hurry up and get fresh, we need to go in the city!”

”Ian! They have just come, let Kai rest first”

Aunt laya chides Ian for his impatience.

”What’s the hurry for?”

I couldn’t help but ask the reason for his impatience.

”There is a circus show in the city! I heard that their performances are the best in the kingdom!”

Circus?

I have heard of them but never watched one live. And especially in this magical world.

Now I am curious.

What kind of performances do they do in this magical world?

”When is the show?”

”It’s in about 2 hours so there’s not much time”

We talk while walking into the mansion, apparently the performers are mages and aura users.

’Aura’, also known as formless magic is a power without any attribute.

Anyone can use aura as long as their mana is pure and they train for a long time.

For people like us who already have two attributes, cultivating aura is far more difficult since our mana is already tainted by two different kinds of attributes.

So the people with weak single attributes or weak affinity with their elemental attributes find it a little easier to use aura magic.

That’s why it also has the nickname of warrior’s or fighter’s magic.

”I also want to see that but first I need to get myself clean and then eat something”

I said helplessly, honestly I am feeling a little sweaty and tired after the journey.

...

I got a quick bath and had a light meal, then Ian and I got ready to go out.

Meanwhile Mother has already handed over that suspicious guy to my uncle for interrogation.

If the head of the information department can’t find the background of him, then there’s probably no one else in this kingdom who can.

Then we headed to the circus in the Cama family’s carriage along with some knights.

It was not far from the mansion.

Ian already had the tickets for the circus, there were already several noble kids and adults as well.

Several nobles live in the capital especially those studying in the Royal Academy.

There is also the 2nd prince’s birthday party tomorrow.

Of course most guests either have just arrived or come tomorrow so most of the audience are ones who live here.

We quickly got to our seats, it is in the second row.

Beside us there is a middle age with a little girl who is around the same age as us.

Maybe he is dragged by his daughter?

Wait a minute, have I seen this girl before?

Maybe a npc from the game? I can’t remember exactly but she is definitely not among important characters.

”The show started!”

Someone from the audience said, maybe to their friends.
