Avoiding Death in an Otome Game

Chapter 6: Chapter - 6: The Cerulean City

A week passed in no time. The exploration and the settlement is finished so we can finally go home tomorrow.

”So our practice session ends today?”

Elena said with a complex expression so I can’t gauge what she is thinking. Is she glad or disappointed? Well whatever, now that she owes me then she should not become an enemy later.

”Yes. You did great, your progress is study so just keep practicing as it takes time to improve in it”

I said some standard words I could come up with from my experience with teachers. It was my first time as an instructor.

”Thank you Lord Kai, and also I have a request”

Another request?

”I would like to invite you to my birthday party. It is next month”

Oh now that I remembered it, the villainess birthday was in winter. That birthday event from the game should be about 7 years from now so it should be no problem for now.

”Thank you for your invitation, I would like to attend but I’ll have to ask for my father’s approval first”

Of course he will happily approve but as a noble I have learned to never make unnecessary commitments or promises, because a noble’s word has some weight and unnecessary commitments can lead to problems.

”Ok, by the way next time I will show you my progress so be ready to be surprised”

She is still a weird one, but I don’t think she is a bad person, at least not until some main events.

....

The next day in the early morning, both our and Marquis Mizo’s Carriages left the Aizawl Town and went our separate ways.

After over a day’s journey we finally reached our home ’The Cerulean City’.

A large city bothering the Median Sea on the east, it’s one of the largest port cities throughout the Kingdom.

Our Mansion is in the Western part of the city, due to the reasons such as tsunamis or sea monsters it’s not safe to build the Lord’s house near the coastal area.

After a while I can finally see our mansion, it’s a big mansion that is fitting of a Marquis, architecture design is also very pretty as it highlights its Sea related features.

Some servants are waiting at the gate of the mansion led by a beautiful noble woman, who looks like some queen even without any crown.

Well she can be called the queen of this Cerulean City. The Marchioness Kira Shen, my mother in this life. With silky long hair, jade green eyes and extreme beauty, she is known as the Nightingale of East.

”Welcome back”

We were greeted by my mother as soon as we got out of the carriage. She didn’t ask about the trip right away, instead sent us to get a bath. Even these small things show the difference between Noble and commoner culture.

I have been learning noble etiquette since I regained my memories and realized how essential they are to avoid the original scenarios.

In one of the routes, Kai loses his temper and attacks the heroine which is followed by an all out fight with the strongest capture target and it resulted in Kai’s death.

If only the original Kai had better learned to keep patients and act like a true noble then that scenario might have never happened.

Well, I still want to become stronger than that capture target to completely avoid the scenario. I already know how strong he was through the game so I just need to surpass that.

...

After taking a bath and some rest, we gathered for tea.

”So how was the trip, I hope you didn’t get bored”

”I was only able to enter the dungeon just once but can’t really say I was bored”

I replied to my mother’s question with a bitter smile.

”Looks like Elena kept you busy”

Father said with a light chuckle, really don’t wear any facade of Marquis at home. He is what you call a fun loving father.

”Elena also came? Was Adelia there as well? I haven’t met her in a while”

”No, only Gael came with his daughters, but you can meet Lady Adelia soon. I heard Elena invited Kai to her birthday”

So father already knows about it? And mother also wants to meet Marchioness Adelia. So it looks like I will have to attend her birthday party even if I don’t want to.

Whatever, I don’t really care since. I don’t even know if it is an original scenario or somehow a changed situation.

”How nice, I think Kai and Elena will be good friends because of how similar they are”

”What? We aren’t similar at all”

I subconsciously let out my inner thoughts, at least I held back saying ’I am not similar to the villainess’.

”Oh really? Then who is the one that forgets to eat lunch when he finds a new magic spell? Also ignoring history lessons to get extra time for magic practice? Both of you are too obsessed with magic”

Really? I thought it was necessary to become stronger but was I really acting obsessed like that girl?

”Right It reminds me, starting tomorrow I will teach Kai some water magic myself”

Father suddenly brings the topic. Must have been because of what Marquis Mizo said when father lied about teaching me.

Well it’s all good for me. I am excited to learn from one of the best water magic users of the East. Maybe he will teach me some secret magic art of our family?

...

After a month full of training in water magic, I am finally getting a break.....that’s what my father said, but in reality here I am attending the Villainess’s birthday party.

Rather than a party, it’s more of a social gathering of relatives and close friends.

Contrary to my expectations, nobles of this world do not not celebrate their birthday extravagantly every year.

Big birthday parties are mostly held only on the first birthday, of course there are exceptions.

I came here with my mother who also wanted to meet her dear friend.

But now I regret coming here!

Because I realized that this place is mostly filled with girls!

After reaching the mansion of the Mizo family which is in the ’Murlin City’, we were received by Marchioness Adelia along with Elena.

As you would expect from a woman who said to rival the beauty of Nightingale of East, she is like a traditional asian beauty with a mature charm.

[Author: let’s just speed run this whole filler episode from here]

We congratulated Elena, then I was dragged by her to meet her younger cousin sisters Ava and Mia, twin daughters of the Marquis’s younger brother.

They should be around 4 or 5 years old.

Ava has very short hair while Mia has long hair which makes it easier to differentiate between them.

Then I was surprised to meet another character from the game, the heroine’s love rival in one of the routes, ’Crystal Saffron’.

Crystal is the eldest daughter of the Saffron Marquis family of Kanchen which is the coldest region in the Yona Kingdom.

According to the game, she should be a year older than me and Elena who are 8.

She was a second year student when the heroine entered the academy.

Apparently Crystal is Elena and Allia’s second cousin from their grandmother’s side.

There is also Crystal’s younger brother Blaze Saffron who is the same age as the twins.

Surprisingly Blaze is a very genial kid or maybe because he is able to finally ease after seeing that there’s another guy?

Well he is having a quarrel with Ava then it should be the later case.

The party went smoothly after that, there were not many guests to begin with.

Elena played a Piano at the party.

I did know that pianos exist in this world as well but it was my first time seeing a live performance.

I thought I would be able to return home the next day but because of Mother who met her friend after a long while and wanted to spend more time with her.

I had to stay for two more days.

Of course I was dragged by Elena to help her in ’Wind Dance’ during the stay.

She also showed me around the nearby areas of Murlin City.

It was really a lot of work for my poor young self.

Sigh..

....

The next 18 months went peacefully...

At least that’s what I wanted to say!

But after this, my interaction with the villainess just keeps increasing.

Elena accompanied Marquis Mizo in the next meeting.

She also sent me new year greetings by a letter so I also had to reply by sending a letter as a form of courtesy.

Mother also invited the Mizo family on my birthday, then again Elena’s birthday then again new year letters.

Really I can only see unnecessary flags rising everywhere.

*sigh*

And now finally after the end of this summer the time for the first event of the game is about to arrive.

The tenth birthday party of the main capture target, second prince Lucian Ripon....
