THE GOD EATER

Fenrir understood what they were saying, but Fenrir wasn’t particularly interested in what they had to say. Fenrir only saw food and proceeded to do what it does when it sees food.

The puppies all opened their mouths to engulf every police officer who approached them. They didn’t care if the police officer was a woman or a man. They didn’t care if the police officer was a rank 3 cultivator or a rank 5 cultivator.

They also didn’t care if the police officers came in a group of 3 or a group of 10. In fact, the more there were for them, the merrier it was for Fenrir.

Fenrir ate everything that was in front of it and was within reach. So very soon, the police officers joined the thong of people fleeing for their lives.

With the police officers failing to do their jobs, the inhabitants of the city lost all of their hope and any last trace of expectation of being saved. The resistance of the entire city collapsed even without any fighting, and the entire city became a scene of carnage.

The carnage was clean though. There was no blood or flesh lying around to indicate that a massacre had happened. This was because Fenrir was not a messy eater.

Fenrir ate everything whole and left nothing behind. Not even the urine that leaked down the legs to the people, as fear gripped them when the black blanket covered them, could escape from Fenrir. Everything, including their clothes, always disappeared down the puppy’s throat.

As the puppies ate more and more, they became bigger and bigger. As they became bigger and bigger, they became stronger and faster. However, they didn’t become more intelligent.

No matter how much they ate, they didn’t become more intelligent. They only knew to eat whatever was in front of them and didn’t consider the consequences of trying to eat that object. This was the main reason why Loki had released them at the edge of the city.

The other reason he started at the wall was to avoid someone strong noticing something wrong and crushing the puppies. The other reason was to avoid the puppies from being surrounded and overwhelmed.

But the main reason he let them loose at the city wall was to give them direction and maximize their hunting. Since their backs were to the wall of the city, the only way forward for the innocent-looking and fluffy puppies was forward. This is the direction that he wanted them to move in.

By going forward, they would all converge at the center of the city. In a perfect situation, he would be able to make the puppies surround the city before they attack it together at the same time.

But the situation isn’t perfect because he can’t coordinate all of the puppies at the same time. So he can only use this method to nudge them in the right direction.

At least, this way, everyone who escapes from the puppies would all escape in the same direction. So as long as he stands on the opposite side of the puppies, people will run into him.

With this plan on his mind, he finished walking half of the city walls. For this half, he released a puppy every 50 meters. This way, everyone was rushing to escape in the direction of the other half of the city without puppies.

As he flew over to stand in the way of the people escaping, he saw that the puppies had stopped being puppies. He saw that most of them have now grown to become as big as adult dogs.

This size was still small in his opinion, but since they were only born recently and were still growing, he decided to withhold his judgment for the time being.

He also saw many rank 4 beings escaping by flying into the air. So he created rail guns and pointed the barrel of the guns at them. Then he used the guns to shoot them down.

He didn’t shoot them with the red lightning so that they wouldn’t turn into ashes. In fact, he didn’t want to kill them at all. This was because living people were more nutritious to eat than dead people.

His goal was to cripple them. It was why he shot them with an ordinary metal bullet. He didn’t use any Branch Metacs of the Killing Pathway.

As he thought of this, he said to himself with longing, ’I wonder when I will be able to bring my Branch Metacs with me when I reverse time. It should be possible when I advance to rank 6.’

’If I can bring my Branch Metacs with me, things will become easier, and I won’t have to run around looking for them anymore. If I could also bring back the strength of my body, that would be even better.’

Then he shook his head and said, ’But I doubt it is possible to bring the strength of my body, though. After all, my body is purely physical and doesn’t have a strong enough connection to Fenrir to tag along the River of Time.’

Ever since he advanced to rank 5, Fenrir has fused with his Mind and has officially begun to stay in his Mental World. His Energy Well has become his Power Core now, and is no longer carried away when he travels through the River of Time.

As for his Mental World, only Fenrir and the Core Metacs are real. The Branch Metacs within it are phantom copies. So even if the Mental World carries everything within it to the River of Time, it can’t bring along the Branch Metacs because they are fake.

According to his estimates, the only way he will have the power to bring his Branch Metacs along when he reverses time is when he becomes a divine being. Even then, he is not sure it is possible because Fenrir can only carry energy, mental things, and Core Metacs.
