THE GOD EATER

The sect had determined that he was in breach of the contract and that her death was also his fault. Because he promised to pay her three times the value of the damages that his actions might cause her, the sect has ordered him to pay her three times the value of her life.

The good news is that he doesn’t have to pay the extra value caused by her identity as a commander on a rank 5 mission or the extra value caused by the possession of grade 4 Life Insurance, since he wasn’t the one who actually killed her. So Amelia will have to bear this burden.

As for him, he still has to pay her base value and the increase caused by her Dao Status multiplied by three. Since she was a rank 4 cultivator with a Level 4 Dao Status, he had to pay 10,000,000(Base Value) × 8(Dao Status) × 3(Contract Breach), which is 240,000,000 energy stones.

When he saw this amount, he chuckled and said, “I guess she shouldn’t have anything to complain about. After all, this much money is enough to satisfy even a rank 5 cultivator.”

He wasn’t going to pay it and only planned to pay the 1% interest on this debt for the next three or four months. So he felt carefree about the notification and couldn’t take the debt to heart..

However, he couldn’t continue to smile when he remembered that he had ignored the notification for the amount that he needed to pay Lady Red for killing her. When he remembered this, his face became rigid, and he stopped chuckling.

He quickly went to check the notification and saw that he needed to pay 100,000,000(Base Value) × 16(Dao Status) × 1(Merit Mission Level) × 1.1(Sect Tax) × 16(Life Insurance), which is 28,160,000,000 energy stones.

This made him say, ’The saving grace is that she wasn’t on a mission for the sect when I killed her. If she were on a grade 5 merit mission, for instance, this would have quickly risen from 28 billion to 450 billion energy stones.’

’28 billion energy stones aren’t a lot to pay for a rank 5 cultivator, but it is too much debt for one person to bear. Just the 1% interest rate would be about 280 million energy stones. That’s already more than the debt I have to pay for causing Amelia’s death. Who can pay this much money every month?’

He can pay the money if he uses his advantage of knowledge to make money. But his face became as black as a pot at the thought of doing so. This was because he hated owing the sect money.

His hatred for debts wasn’t baseless, though. Anytime he thinks of debts and how they can be used against him, he remembers how Slav had incapacitated Craig simply because Craig owed money and Slav was in control of his debt.

So owing the sect money always makes him feel like he has given up a certain advantage to the sect. But what he hates more than debts is paying back the debt, especially to someone as black-hearted and tyrannical as the Four Directions Sect.

However, no matter how much he hated the sect, he had to pay the interest on the debt in one month’s time. If he didn’t do so, the sect would come after him, and he wouldn’t be able to join the Heavenly Battlefield in three months’ time.

Since he had to join that Heavenly Battlefield, he could only sigh and bear with the bitter taste in his mouth. Then he took out his sect token and navigated to the Betting Arena there.

He has decided to earn money, and since he has spent some time tracking the outcome of bets during the time he spent 8 years on the Earthly Battlefield to fuse his energy threads, it should be easy for him to earn the money he needs through the Betting Arena.

Because he was confident in the success of his bets, he used up all the money in his hands for the bets. He had about 55 million energy stones, but he was confident that he could turn this into 550 million by the end of the month.

The end of the month will be in one week’s time. At that time, it will be one month since he awakened in this timeline. So the level of confidence he possesses in the success of his bets is to increase his wealth by ten times in 7 days.

This confidence made him smile and say to himself, ’If I earn more money, I won’t even mind attacking cities and going on a killing spree in order to quickly raise the amplification of my Power Core.’

As he said this, he checked his progress using the Power Identification Ability.

Age: 35 Years 3 Months/77 Years 9 Months.

Dao Status: 5

Energy Quantity: 5,898,240 × 5 = 29,491,200 >> 11,796,480 × 5 = 58,982,400

Energy Density: (16)(16)(16)(16)(16) >> (17)(17)(17)(17)(17)

Energy Rank: 4 > 5.

Energy Threads: 180 + 180 + 180 + 180 + 180 = 900

Power Core: 9 >> 10.

Body: 0.6 >> 5.

Soul: 1.5 >> 4.

Mind: 1.5 >> 5.

Will: 6(1%)

Skill: 401% >> 413%.

It has been three months since he finished the Heavenly Battlefield and began going after Lady Red. In that time, the most meaningful change that he underwent was the weekly increase in his energy manipulation skill.

It has become much more difficult for his energy manipulation skill to increase after it crossed the boundary of 400%. But he is still able to increase the skill of his energy manipulation by 1% every week.

This kind of speed is blazing fast in comparison to how fast other rank 5 cultivators master the energy manipulation skill. In fact, according to his research, he is more than a hundred times faster than the fastest speed possible.
