The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

At two thirty in the morning, the forensic examination and identification center of the Jiangcheng City Public Security Bureau was still brightly lit.

Especially the floor on the west side of the building where the forensic dissection room was located, cold white light poured out of the windows, glaringly bright.

Inside the dissection room, the female corpse retrieved from the deserted well in the suburbs lay quietly on autopsy table number one.

Two forensic assistants, wearing blue protective suits, stood solemnly on each side of the autopsy table, each holding a scalpel glinting with icy light, ready to begin this special dialogue with the deceased.

Wan tightly held the camera, fingers hovering over the shutter button, prepared to meticulously record every critical detail of the autopsy process.

Jiang An said in a deep voice, ”Begin!”

Soon, the two forensic assistants began cautiously removing the deceased’s clothing.

The clothes, stiff from long-term immersion, had a slight adhesion between the fabric and the skin, making the process exceedingly careful to avoid destroying any potential evidence.

When the last piece of clothing was gently removed, Jiang An leaned closer and asked in a deep voice, ”Are there any cuts on the clothes?”

One of the assistants immediately replied, ”Initial inspection shows multiple cuts in the clothing area corresponding to the deceased’s back.”

As he spoke, he fully unfolded the back of the deceased’s coat; under strong light, those damaged areas became unmistakable.

”The shapes of these cuts are very irregular, with jagged edges, and while the area of individual cuts is generally small, they are relatively concentrated.”

Then, Jiang An leaned over, his gaze sweeping over the clothing cuts on the back of the corpse.

He was silent for several seconds, ”Undoubtedly, these marks are caused by insect gnawing—by insects!”

He slowly straightened up, his gaze still fixed on the irregular edges of those cuts.

”If cut by a sharp object, the edges of the wound would inevitably be clean and smooth, as if sliced by a blade.”

”But look here carefully—” he pointed to the jagged shape of the cut edges, ”insect bites create these unique hollow-like damages, with rough and irregular edges, varying greatly in size and shape.”

”From this characteristic, it can be completely concluded that the back of the deceased did not suffer any sharp instrument injuries.”

”I see!”

The forensic pathologist standing aside suddenly realized, ”Mr. Jiang, your analysis is brilliant! This judgment points us in the right direction.”

Subsequently, they shifted their attention to the deceased’s lower limbs.

After removing the clothes, they found similar hollow-like damage in the buttock area of the pants, identical to the marks on the back.

Jiang An looked around, instructing solemnly, ”You two, carefully check whether there are any valuable markings on the clothes.”

”Especially brand tags or size labels that can provide identity clues.”

He paused, adding, ”Once any valuable markers are discovered, photograph them immediately for fixation.”

”These will become crucial evidence in our search for the origins of the corpse and reconstruction of the case.”

Soon, the two forensic pathologists laid out the deceased’s clothes on the operating table as they originally were.

Wan quickly stepped forward, his camera clicking crisply, recording every detail from different angles.

When all external examinations were complete, a naked corpse lay quietly on the autopsy table.

In the long course of natural desiccation, the body appeared unusually thin, with muscles and fat tissues severely shriveled, tightly adhering to the skeleton, making the entire body seem like a mummy weathered by time.

Confronted with such a special corpse, the two somewhat inexperienced forensic pathologists seemed a bit hesitant, exchanging uncertain glances, their instruments slightly wavering.

They then turned their heads towards Jiang An standing aside for help, their eyes carrying a few hints of uncertainty.

Jiang An calmly nodded, his gaze steady and gentle. ”Don’t be nervous, just operate according to the standard forensic examination procedure.”

”First, carefully examine the corpse’s surface for any trauma marks.”

”This does not only refer to cuts caused by sharp tools, but also includes bruises or subcutaneous bleeding potentially left by blunt force impact.”

He paused briefly, continuing with detailed instructions, ”After completing the surface examination, pay special attention to key areas such as the deceased’s neck and mouth.”

”These locations often hide important clues, sometimes even pointing directly to special causes of death, such as asphyxiation or poisoning.”

Under Jiang An’s clear guidance, the two forensic pathologists quickly entered into their working state.

Meticulously following the procedure, they started from the deceased’s scalp, gradually examining the face, neck, chest, abdomen, lower limbs, and did not even miss the extremely concealed perineum.

”No injuries whatsoever; no obvious external trauma found on the entire body!”

The forensic pathologist reported upon completing the examination.

Jiang An nodded slightly, then instructed, ”Alright, next, extract samples of the deceased’s genital secretions.”

Standing aside, Wan couldn’t help but display a puzzled expression upon hearing this, asking, ”Captain, this corpse has reached a mummified state. Can genital secretions still be extracted under such dry conditions?”

”Even if they existed before, wouldn’t they have decomposed or disappeared by now?”

Jiang An turned his head, explaining patiently, ”Genital secretions can be preserved for quite long under certain conditions. Although the decomposition process does indeed affect the samples, we must not neglect this step.”

”Extracting these samples is to leave no stone unturned. They may seem minor at this stage, but during future technological analysis or case advancement, they might become critical evidence.”
