The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

He analyzed professionally, ”The collision should come from this angle, with great force...”

Five minutes later, Jiang An carefully compared the scene photos and inspection data, then suddenly turned to everyone and said, ”From the timeline, the formation time of this collision mark indeed highly coincides with the time of the incident.”

Wan squatted beside him, gently fiddling with the moss on the tree trunk, and asked thoughtfully, ”Mr. Jiang, can these plants’ damaged states help us deduce the exact time of the impact more precisely?”

Jiang An looked up, a wry smile appearing on his face, ”My expertise is in animal trace identification, not as a botany expert.”

”If you really want to figure this out...”

He deliberately elongated his tone, glancing around at his colleagues, ”I’m afraid we’d have to invite a professor from the Agricultural University.”

After speaking, he laughed first, his hearty laughter echoing through the woods.

The other team members were also amused by him, and the tense atmosphere suddenly relaxed a bit.

However, amid the laughter, Jiang An’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, almost imperceptibly.

He felt that something was amiss, like a jigsaw puzzle missing a piece, causing unease.

His gaze fell again on the collision mark — only 40 centimeters high, this number flashed in his mind repeatedly.

The height of a large truck’s chassis...

The collision position...

These two pieces of information clashed fiercely in his mind.

”This is not right...”

Jiang An murmured to himself, recalling the lead about the large truck mentioned by Wang Yang, and compared it to the low collision mark in front of him.

An obvious contradiction surfaced: the chassis height of a large truck is usually around 1 meter, how could it leave a collision mark at 40 centimeters?

Chen Biao sharply noticed the change in Jiang An’s expression, quickly walked over, and asked in a low voice, ”What’s going on? Did you find a new lead?”

Jiang An slowly turned his head, a glint of thoughtful light in his eyes, ”Biao, I think this collision mark has issues.”

He squatted down, precisely measuring the height of the mark with his fingers, ”The height of the large truck’s chassis doesn’t match this collision position at all.”

Chen Biao was taken aback hearing this, then also squatted down to carefully observe.

A moment later, he suddenly slapped his thigh, ”Yeah! That means either we found the wrong collision point, or...”

His words abruptly stopped, a realization gleaming in his eyes.

The scene suddenly fell silent, and everyone felt the importance of this discovery.

The team members, initially excited by finding a lead, now all showed disappointed expressions on their faces.

After two minutes of silence, Chen Biao suddenly raised his head, ”Mr. Jiang, besides the misplacement, could it be an issue with the vehicle type?”

His voice was light, yet like a stone thrown into a calm lake.

”You mean... maybe it wasn’t a large truck at all?”

Jiang An nodded thoughtfully, and various possibilities quickly flashed through his mind: a small car? An SUV? Or some kind of special vehicle?

This simple logical reasoning was like dominoes, triggering a chain reaction in everyone’s mind.

If A and B don’t match, not only A could be wrong, but B could also be the source of the error.

Meanwhile, in the sub-bureau’s interrogation room, the interrogation of Wang Yang and Zhou Yong had lasted for three hours.

The enclosed space was filled with the strong scent of coffee and the sour smell of sweat.

With the precise time of death provided by Jiang An, combined with the collision marks found at the scene, and the suspects’ evasive confessions, Wang Yang’s suspicions grew heavier and heavier.

”Where exactly were you on the afternoon of May 18? Did you hit anyone?”

Wang Yang pressed once more, his voice slightly hoarse from the prolonged interrogation.

”I, I’ve already said, I was transporting fruit...”

The suspect’s voice grew weaker and weaker, his gaze unfocused.

Wang Yang suddenly erupted, slamming his thick palm onto the metal table with a loud ”bang”.

”Still lying!”

The man across was already exhausted, sweat continuously dripping from his forehead.

He leaned powerlessly against the chair back, his voice as faint as a mosquito’s buzz, ”Really... it wasn’t me... you’ve got the wrong person...”
