The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

After thinking for 5 minutes, Zhou Yong’s pupils slightly contracted: ”Are you saying... traffic accident?”

”Traffic accidents can indeed cause similar oblique fractures,”

Jiang An nodded, carefully using tweezers to remove the fragment and place it in the sample box.

But this alone is not enough to draw conclusions.

It’s important to know that victims of traffic accidents usually have large areas of skin abrasions and soft tissue damage; these are critical corroborative evidence.

Unfortunately...

His gaze swept over the dried bones on the table, leaving his unfinished words to be understood without saying.

Zhou Yong sighed deeply, took off his glasses, and rubbed his temples.

He understood the implication in Jiang An’s words — with the corpse now reduced to White Bone, they’ve lost too much potentially critical evidence.

The laboratory fell silent once more, with only the slight hum of the air conditioning and countless questions swirling in everyone’s minds.

After careful observation and contemplation, Jiang An slowly lifted his head, his gaze reflecting professional brilliance: ”From the current condition of the corpse, although we can’t fully determine the cause of death, I believe we can attempt to verify from other angles.”

”Oh? Are there other methods of verification?”

Zhou Yong immediately perked up with interest, instinctively leaning forward, ”How exactly do we proceed?”

Jiang An turned to point at the autopsy table, calmly uttering two words: ”Clothing.”

”Clothing?”

Zhou Yong furrowed his brow and then had a sudden realization, ”You’re saying we can determine if an impact occurred through marks on the clothing?”

”Exactly.”

Jiang An nodded, explaining with hand gestures, ”In a traffic accident, when a victim is hit by a fast-moving vehicle, the body is thrown into the air before crashing down hard.”

”During this process, the clothing will experience intense friction with the ground.”

”If the deceased was wearing clothes at the time, friction marks will definitely be vividly left on the clothing.”

”Conversely, it would directly manifest on the skin tissue.”

”Brilliant! Simply brilliant!”

Zhou Yong slapped his thigh, his face full of amazement, ”It’s like waking a person from a dream with a single sentence!”

The lab assistants also showed expressions of sudden realization, with some even involuntarily applauding.

”Quick! Immediately bring over the samples of the deceased’s clothing!”

Zhou Yong immediately turned and instructed his assistants.

The two young laboratory assistants exchanged looks of shock.

They hadn’t expected that this seemingly ordinary fracture case could find such a clever verification method in such a short time.

One of them muttered softly, ”This line of thought is just too ingenious...”

At this moment, Zhou Yong looked at Jiang An with eyes full of admiration.

As an experienced forensic pathologist, he had originally believed that this field required long experience accumulation, much like clinical medicine, needing a decade’s refinement.

But the performance of this young man before him completely overturned his understanding.

Jiang An appeared to be no more than twenty-five or six years old, yet exhibited astonishing professional competence.

Even more impressive was his rigorous logical reasoning ability, with every link seamlessly connected and flawless.

Zhou Yong noticed that from taking on this case to now, Jiang An had interacted with the remains for less than 10 hours, yet had already made such a significant breakthrough.

This made him inevitably feel a sense of inferiority.

”Mr. Jiang truly has a discerning eye for talent!”

Zhou Yong sincerely praised, ”Mr. Jiang is indeed a rising star in Jiangcheng’s forensic community, truly admirable!”

Jiang An smiled modestly, then immediately threw himself back into the detailed autopsy work.

He first completed a comprehensive examination of the lower limb fractures and then began systematically inspecting the upper limb bones.

From the humerus to the ulna, radius, and then each phalanx.

When examining the tip of the right middle finger, Jiang An’s movement suddenly stopped.

He frowned, holding the bone up to the light and observing it repeatedly.

”Mr. Zhou,” he called softly, ”Do you think this part of the bone shows signs of being missing?”

Zhou Yong immediately leaned in closer, taking the bone for careful scrutiny: ”The joint area bones are inherently complex, to say it’s missing...”

His voice suddenly paused, and his gaze became focused.

”Wait, this edge is indeed not quite normal.”

Jiang An pointed to the bone’s cross section, explaining: ”Under normal circumstances, the edges of joint area bones should be smooth and rounded, to ensure the flexibility of finger movement.”

”But this cross section presents obvious angles, just like...”
