The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Ten minutes later, Jiang An, accompanied by Wang Yang and Chen Biao, slowly walked into the forensic laboratory of Chuan City’s criminal investigation team.

As soon as he pushed open the laboratory’s door, a strong chemical smell rushed in, with a slightly sharp sting.

However.

Jiang An, Wan, and Zhang Yean were soon captivated by the surrounding environment.

Looking around, the entire laboratory was so clean that it could reflect images, even the skirting boards in the corners were spotless.

Various instruments and equipment were neatly arranged, and the space was unexpectedly spacious.

Wan’s eyes were full of amazement as he turned to Mr. Wang, his tone filled with genuine admiration.

”Mr. Wang, you must have invested a lot in this laboratory, right?”

”I reckon that with this scale and configuration, it must have exceeded ten million.”

Mr. Wang laughed heartily upon hearing this, sounding a bit proud.

”Haha, ten million?”

”That’s not all! Just the renovation of this lab alone cost nearly fifteen million, and that’s without counting those precise instruments.”

”If you include the chemical analysis equipment and gene sequencers, the total investment would probably exceed thirty million.”

Zhang Yean clicked her tongue in amazement and couldn’t help but give a thumbs up.

”Truly a big investment! Our lab in Jiangcheng probably only has about half of that investment.”

Jiang An smiled gently, his tone calm, ”Probably around that.”

”The funding situation is different in each place; achieving this level is indeed not easy.”

Mr. Wang’s smile faded slightly, scratching his head with some embarrassment, his tone much more sincere.

”So, sometimes no matter how good the equipment, you need the talent to operate it.”

”We’ve spent a lot on equipment, but talent training is indeed our weakness.”

”Take this case for example, we have all this equipment, but when it comes to a tricky major case, there are still too few people who can really step up and show solid skills.”

”That’s why we had to trouble you to come all this way to support us.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An, Wan, and Zhang Yean exchanged glances, with a mutual understanding in their eyes.

Wan was the first to speak, ”Mr. Wang, you’re really skilled in complimenting people, constantly giving us high praise, making even our Mr. Jiang feel a bit overwhelmed.”

”If the case doesn’t get solved in the end, it would be a great embarrassment after your high regard.”

Mr. Wang hurriedly waved his hands, ”Please, don’t feel pressured!”

”We’ve long heard about the case-solving prowess of Jiangcheng’s criminal investigators.”

”In less than four hours since you arrived, you’ve already found the skull.”

”To be honest, though delightful, it’s within our expectations—after all, it was your team.”

Finally, Mr. Wang remarked with admiration, ”With your presence, solving this case is surely just around the corner.”

As he spoke, they had reached the elevator.

After pressing the button, the elevator door quickly opened, and they all entered one after another.

As the elevator ascended slowly, the indicator stopped on the 6th floor.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, they saw two staff members in white lab coats standing at the entrance.

”Mr. Wang, Mr. Jiang.” the two greeted in unison.

Jiang An looked at them, both unfamiliar faces.

Wang Yang immediately stepped forward to introduce, ”These two are our laboratory assistants. They heard you were going to perform the skull reconstruction technique and specifically asked me for permission to observe and learn.”

”I wonder if Mr. Jiang would be willing to give them this opportunity?”

Jiang An laughed softly at the words, his tone straightforward, ”Of course, there’s an opportunity!”

”As long as they’re willing to learn, they can do so at any time.”

”Let’s go! I can have two more helpers this way.”

Saying this, the group entered the laboratory.

Instantly, Jiang An’s gaze quickly fell upon the workbench—plaster powder, adhesive, a special bucket, various models of art knives...

All sorts of tools were neatly arranged.

Upon seeing this, he felt a sense of familiarity, like meeting old friends.

When he was in Jiangcheng, he had restored the facial features of two incomplete corpses using similar tools.

Though the operation manual wasn’t beside him, every step of the restoration process was as clear in his mind as if it were engraved there.

Then, Jiang An turned and said, ”Please fetch me two pairs of gloves, and we can start now.”

The assistant quickly walked to the drawer, pulled it open, and handed over two pairs of thick plastic gloves.

Jiang An accepted the gloves and swiftly put them on, his entire demeanor instantly becoming focused.

First, he poured water and plaster powder into a container in precise proportions, gently rotating his wrist, allowing the mixture to slowly ripple within the container until fully integrated.

After letting it rest for a moment, he carefully placed the skull inside, moving as delicately as handling a fragile piece of art.

”This step is to allow the mixture to adhere better to the skull’s surface, forming the initial mold, and then there will be a secondary shaping.”

......

While operating, he lightly explained, both instructing the assistants and organizing his thoughts.

Throughout the process, the laboratory was so quiet that only the faint sounds of the equipment could be heard.

Everyone held their breath, eyes fixed intently on the workbench, not daring to make a sound.

Wang Yang and Chen Biao, who typically had strong smoking habits, instinctively reached for their pockets but forcibly restrained themselves.

Nobody wanted to miss any details by stepping out for a smoke.
