The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Seeing Jiang An’s confident demeanor, the others were all filled with confusion.

However.

At this moment, no one dared to say much.

After all, their captain, Wang Yang, had already followed quickly, his eyes full of expectation.

Wang Yang and Chen Biao walked briskly while whispering to each other.

Wang Yang lowered his voice, sounding a bit puzzled.

”Mr Chen, do you think Captain Jiang is planning to dig the soil? What could be in the soil?”

”We previously turned everything upside down around the tree, didn’t even miss a decent stone.”

”Look, there’s still grass flattened from our earlier search. If there was something, we should have found it by now.”

Chen Biao stroked his chin, frowning in concentration: ”Who knows.”

”I’m thinking, although Captain Jiang looks young, his mind is quite meticulous.”

”That ragged cloth earlier, none of us paid any mind to it, but he saw something in it.”

While speaking, he glanced at Jiang An and said in a deep voice, ”Maybe there’s really something special about this soil.”

At this time, Zhang Yean and Wan also went over, squatting down next to the depression for a closer look.

At this moment, Jiang An said in a deep voice, ”I think we should dig up this section of soil, there might be a possibility of discovering a head?”

”A head here?”

Wan and Zhang Yean exclaimed in unison, their eyes wide open.

”You’ve got to be kidding!”

Zhang Yean whispered.

”This is quite far from the location of the body’s torso.”

”How could the head end up here?”

At this moment, Captain Wang turned to look at the location of the body’s torso.

He found that they were separated by several meters.

”It’s indeed not close!” Jiang An looked around and said, ”But, the deceased’s head is spherical, and this is a slope.”

”Once the head detaches from the neck, it’s very likely to roll down the slope, hitting rocks or tree trunks along the way, changing direction, and finally landing in this depression.”

He paused and pointed at the grass in the depression with the handle of his shovel, ”Plus, with the impact of a mudslide, it’s possible it got buried under the soil.”

”Didn’t you notice how lush the grass here is?”

Hearing this, Captain Wang and Chen Biao suddenly realized, their eyes lit with understanding.

”So that’s it!”

Wang Yang slapped his thigh, ”Since it’s growing so lushly, that means there’s extra nutrients.”

”Where could these nutrients be coming from?”

”Could it be... the nutrients left behind by the deceased’s head decomposing?”

In an instant, Wan and Zhang Yean nodded gently.

”Looking at it this way, Jiang’s analysis seems to make a lot of sense.”

”Let me help dig then!”

Captain Wang hurriedly waved his hand, ”No, no, no, you’ve come from afar and are already tired, this kind of manual work should be left to us brothers, you just guide us from the side.”

However, Jiang An shook his head, gripping the shovel tightly, ”Captain Wang, don’t be polite with me.”

”This work looks simple, but there’s actually a lot of skill involved.”

”Is there really a skill to digging soil?”

Wang Yang looked surprised, ”Is it because you suspect there’s a head in the soil?”

”Exactly.”

Jiang An’s gaze fell on the shovel.

”This place is some distance from the body’s torso, if the head is really here, it must be buried quite deep.”

”If we dig too hard, and accidentally hit the head, we might damage the bone, making it hard to determine if the fractures are from being struck or from our digging.”

”Yes! You’re absolutely right!”

Chen Biao suddenly realized, ”The force must indeed be controlled well; damaging the evidence would be troublesome.”

”I tried earlier, this soil seems loose on the surface, but underneath it’s actually quite hard, I was very cautious while digging.”

Jiang An said as he lifted the shovel again.

”Let me help then.”

”We’ve got experience digging things in the mountains over the years for cases.”

Jiang An smiled, ”It’s fine, I can handle it.”

Upon seeing this, Chen Biao quickly picked up the camera to take pictures.

He felt that the scene before him held great significance - this expert who had come from afar was personally taking up the shovel to dig in the field, this diligent and hardworking spirit was worth documenting.

He clicked a few shots of Jiang An’s actions, planning to showcase them later.

Ten minutes later, Jiang An suddenly paused his movements, as if the shovel hit something hard.

He furrowed his brows slightly, cautiously using the edge of the shovel to brush away the surface dirt.

”What’s wrong? Is there a discovery?”

Wang Yang asked nervously, his heart racing.

Jiang An didn’t say anything, but simply gestured for everyone to be quiet.

He set down the shovel, put on gloves, and gently touched the object beneath the soil.

The surface felt smooth and hard, with a distinct curvature.

”It should be a round object.”

Jiang An’s voice carried a slight but noticeable excitement.

”We might need to dig with our hands now.”

”Dig with hands?”

Everyone exchanged glances, seeing the anticipation in each other’s eyes.

”Yes, put on gloves and start digging with hands at this spot.”

Jiang An squatted down, ”This way we can best protect the integrity of the head.”

Without further ado, everyone put on gloves, formed a circle, and carefully began to unearth with their hands.

Chen Biao held up the camera, capturing this tense moment, every photo capturing the team’s anticipation.

He then sent the newly taken photos to Li Jian back in Jiangcheng.

With a message: ”Thanks to Jiangcheng police for their support.”

”Under Captain Jiang’s leadership, we’ve started ’digging’ now.”
