The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Soon, two forensic assistants left with thick stacks of documents.

Wang Yang and Zhou Yong hurriedly walked through the corridor straight to the interrogation area.

At the entrance of the interrogation room, Wang Yang said in a low voice, ”Mr. Zhou, these two suspects are held in interrogation rooms 1 and 2 respectively.”

”In a bit, we’ll both go into the interrogation room to interrogate them one by one.”

Zhou Yong nodded and said, ”You’re the captain, I’ll follow your lead!”

As soon as he finished speaking, Wang Yang turned to look at Zhou Yong, his brow furrowing slightly.

”Regarding the cause of death of this victim, as a death from a traffic accident, how confident are you in this assessment?”

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yong stopped in his tracks and grinned.

”Mr. Wang, you can rest assured about this conclusion!”

”Absolutely reliable!”

”Absolutely trustworthy!”

”Oh?”

Wang Yang stared at the expression on Zhou Yong’s face, full of suspicion.

In his impression, Zhou Yong was a very meticulous forensic expert, who often concluded ”the likelihood of suicide is high”

”accidental death cannot be ruled out”

.....

Why did he suddenly come to a definitive conclusion today?

Where does his confidence come from?

Noticing the confusion on Wang Yang’s face, Zhou Yong hurriedly explained: ”On this ’White Bone’ corpse, the triad injury characteristics typical of a traffic accident are very clear.”

”First is the impact injury, then the throw and fall injury, and finally the crushing marks.”

As he spoke, Zhou Yong’s eyes grew focused.

”These characteristics were only seen in textbooks before, I didn’t expect to encounter them in practice this time.”

”The most important thing is, Mr. Jiang’s on-site analysis was very professional.”

”I totally agree with this assessment.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Yang gently nodded.

”If that’s the case, this point can be used as a breakthrough in the interrogation.”

He paused, a faint smile on his lips, ”This gives me great confidence in the case.”

”Captain!”

Zhou Yong smiled and patted Wang Yang on the shoulder, ”You’ve never lacked courage, you just need to keep pointing us in the right direction.”

Immediately, Wang Yang turned and pushed open the door of the interrogation room.

With a ”bang,” the door swung open.

Seated on the interrogation chair, Wang Ming immediately tried to stand up excitedly but was held down by the tiger stool that kept him immobile.

However, his handcuffs scraped against the metallic table, making a jarring sound.

”What on earth do you want?”

”I haven’t done anything!”

”Why are you arresting me?”

As he spoke, sweat beads formed on his forehead, his eyes ceaselessly glancing towards the door.

Wang Yang and Zhou Yong exchanged a glance, already accustomed to this kind of reaction.

Every suspect who came in would first proclaim their innocence, it was almost standard procedure.

The two sat down, unhurried.

Zhou Yong deliberately straightened the notebook.

”Name.”

Wang Yang’s voice was as calm as if discussing the weather.

”You know it, don’t you?”

Wang Yang slowly looked up, his gaze sharp as a blade: ”Name, age, sex, occupation, address.”

This time, each word was like nails hammered into the air.

During interrogation, one must overpower the other with presence.

After a moment, Wang Ming’s shoulders slumped.

”Wang Ming, 37 years old, male, lives at 72 West City Street, transports fruit.”

After speaking he lowered his head, his fingers twisting uneasily.

Zhou Yong’s pen rustled across the paper, recording every word.

”Do you know why you’re here?”

Wang Yang suddenly asked.

”I don’t know!”

Wang Ming suddenly looked up, ”I have to drive tomorrow, you... ”

”The female corpse found in your village’s back mountain!” Wang Yang interrupted him, ”Heard about it, right?”

Wang Ming’s pupils instantly contracted: ”Heard, heard about it, but what’s that got to do with me?”

Wang Yang leaned forward, crossing his hands on the table: ”The deceased is from Qingzhou, which happens to be where you transport every week.”

He deliberately paused, ”How do you explain this coincidence?”

”Qingzhou is so big!” Wang Ming’s voice began to tremble, ”There are so many people coming and going every day...”

”You went to Qingzhou last Wednesday, right?”

Wang Yang suddenly changed the topic, ”How long have you been driving?”

”Seven... seven or eight years.”

Wang Ming was caught off guard by this turn.

Wang Yang pulled a sheet of paper out of the folder: ”But your violation record shows, last year there were ten speeding incidents, and the year before there were two instances of drunk driving.”

His fingers gently tapped on the paper, ”With such driving habits, it’s easy to have an accident.”

”Those are just minor violations!”

Wang Ming stood up in agitation, only to be dragged back to his seat by the handcuffs.

”I’ve never had an accident!”

”Really?”

Wang Yang sneered, slowly pulling out a photo from the file bag, ”Then how do you explain this?”

The photo was a close-up of Wang Ming’s truck tire, with faint dark red stains visible.

Wang Ming’s face instantly turned pale.

”On the evening of October 15th, two years ago at 8:37, you hit a cyclist at the intersection of Zhongshan and Jiefang Roads, causing minor injuries. This incident has a complete police dispatch record and injury report at the traffic police station.”

”Did you think after two years, you could escape our notice?”

The interrogation officer flipped open the file, heavily pointing to the accident scene photo.

Upon hearing this, Wang Ming’s hands involuntarily twisted together, his knuckles turning white from the pressure.

Under the glaring interrogation room light, you could clearly see the sweat beads on her forehead.

The silence lasted nearly 2 minutes before she managed to speak: ”Just... just that one time, I remember. That night the fog was especially thick, visibility might have been less than 20 meters.”

”I had my high beams on, but that cyclist suddenly rushed out from the right side alley...”

His voice grew smaller and smaller, ”I really didn’t do it on purpose.”

”Low visibility isn’t an excuse to avoid responsibility.”
