The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”This process may not be as exciting as a TV drama, but every step embodies the detectives’ hard work.”

He cleverly avoided specific technical details, instead emphasizing the rigor of investigative work.

”Sometimes, a seemingly insignificant fiber or half a blurry footprint can become the key to solving a case.”

The audience leaned forward in unison, completely engrossed in the criminal investigation expert’s story.

At this moment, in the spacious and bright office of the Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team, almost everyone had put aside their work and opened the live broadcast.

The interview footage of Jiang An was being broadcast in real time on the office’s big screen, and the clear voice echoed throughout the space via the audio system.

Even Mr. Li and Mr. Ma, who were usually serious and unsmiling, sat upright in front of the office computer, staring intently at the live broadcast.

Mr. Ma rested his chin on his crossed hands, watching the screen without blinking.

Upon hearing Jiang An’s brilliant analysis of the case’s key aspects, he couldn’t help but nod and smile contentedly.

”Comrade Jiang An is indeed very good. He speaks with measure, saying much of what needs to be said while keeping quiet on what shouldn’t be revealed.”

As he spoke, he turned to Mr. Li beside him, gently tapping the tabletop with his finger.

”Mr. Li, you know, during this investigation, there really are lots of confidential contents.”

”Like the key DNA comparison technical details, and our unique interrogation strategies, Jiang An disclosed none of it.”

”Throughout, he’s demonstrated the Jiangcheng police’s pursuit and perseverance for truth, responding to public expectation, and showcasing our criminal investigation skills and ability.”

Li Jian, upon hearing this praise, nodded affirmatively, eyes sparkling with admiration: ”Yes, this young man is worth cultivating.”

Adjusting his posture, he continued, ”In the whole process, he didn’t highlight his leading role in case handling, instead putting the team first, such a strong sense of team and honor deserves to be promoted and learned.”

Upon hearing this, Li Jian took a box of Chinese cigarettes from his black briefcase, deftly drew one out and handed it to Mr. Ma.

”Mr. Ma, picking Jiang An as vice captain, you really have foresight!”

He said while taking out a lighter to light the cigarette for the director, ”It’s only when a talented person meets a discerning eye that they can realize their greatest potential.”

Mr. Ma took a deep drag and chuckled, ”I’m not his mentor, you are.”

His eyes squinted through the smoke, looking at Li Jian with significance, ”You were the one who strongly recommended him for the vice-captain role.”

”Mr. Ma!” Li Jian chuckled, flicking off the cigarette ash, a look of nostalgia in his eyes.

”Honestly, we met at the police station entrance the day Jiang An reported.”

His voice carried a hint of emotion, ”When I first met him, he struck me as a scholarly young man, wearing black frame glasses, speaking softly, not at all like a detective.”

A chuckle escaped Li Jian, ”Unexpectedly, once he started working, he achieved remarkable success.”

”Moreover, his contributions in criminal investigations have been substantial; often, those seemingly insignificant observations serve as breakthroughs in solving cases.”

Mr. Ma nodded, picking up the thread: ”You know, I used to think pathologists worked only in labs, spending days with corpses and microscopes.”

He made an exaggerated gesture, ”But Jiang An’s investigative ability and level surpass ours, the veteran detectives.”

Said with a hint of self-deprecation in his tone.

Mr. Li added, ”Sometimes, we spend days and nights on a case without progress, yet he can pinpoint the crucial element just by glancing at the scene photos.”

”Hahaha,”

Mr. Ma’s hearty laughter echoed in the office, ”What? Mr. Li feeling some pressure?”

He mischievously blinked, ”With such an excellent vice captain, does it give you any stress as the captain?”

”Oh, wouldn’t call it pressure!”

Li Jian waved dismissively, ”It’s all for work. Having such an assistant to help, I’m more than pleased.”

Extinguishing the cigarette butt, he continued, ”I discussed this with Instructor Zhang Chao recently.”

”Jiang An’s working ability is so strong, should we, as senior members, provide new opportunities for others?”

His tone turned serious, ”We have almost 20 days of annual leave each year, but haven’t taken them for five consecutive years.”

”With Jiang An’s excellence, we can comfortably go on a vacation to relax, giving young people a chance and platform.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Ma absentmindedly rotated the watch on his left wrist, pondering for a moment.

”You know, I haven’t taken my annual leave either!”

His eyes suddenly brightened, ”How about the three of us drive to Chuanxi.”

”Last time we toured Chuanxi, the scenery was beautiful, the local culture genuine; it felt like a great place for personal growth.”

Saying that, he pulled out his phone, showing Li Jian a few photos from their last trip.

”Haha, great!” Li Jian leaned in to look at the photos, agreeing readily.

”However, maybe after I finish my work this month, we can find time next month to go on a trip together.”

He suddenly thought of something, frowning slightly, ”But, all three of us leaving, the criminal investigation section...”

”No need to worry, Mr. Ma!”

Li Jian interrupted confidently, patting his chest.
