The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

This investigation was a real surprise once started.

Deputy Captain Chen Biao stared at the phone screen, suddenly frozen in place.

He then held up his phone, speaking with amazement: ”Mr. Wang, take a look, just by lightly typing his name in the social circle, so much related information popped up. His influence is really quite significant.”

At this moment, Captain Wang Yang was standing by the window, pressing the case files with both hands, his brow furrowed into a knot, his face filled with signs of stress.

The case of the headless female corpse before him had been under his team’s study for an entire week, yet there was no progress at all.

The pressure of solving the case was like a mountain for the entire Criminal Investigation Team, everyone’s energy was nearly entirely devoted to this case, but no breakthrough could be found, leaving him anxious as if on fire.

Glancing at the phone in Deputy Captain Chen Biao’s hand, Wang Yang sneered slightly, speaking with a hint of disdain.

”No matter how good he is, it’s his business, it’s got nothing to do with our case.”

”I think, these young people probably have a strong background, that’s why so many people are flocking to promote him, and he might not necessarily have real skills.”

Chen Biao shook his head, speaking earnestly: ”Mr. Wang, it’s not like you think.”

”Earlier, when they came to receive someone, I happened to be handling the conclusion of another case over there and saw this young man in person.”

”He looked very professional and had an air of integrity, not like someone who flaunts based on background.”

Wang Yang grinned helplessly, with the experience of a veteran: ”Brother, you’ve still been in the police team for too short a time.”

”You can’t see through people’s hearts, some people look one way on the surface and the reality is entirely different, especially with such strong media publicity, there must be someone deliberately pushing him behind the scenes.”

”If there wasn’t something fishy, why is he being promoted instead of someone else?”

”And besides, in Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team, there should be quite a few seasoned old members, it shouldn’t be a newcomer taking the spotlight.”

As he listened to Chen Biao’s analysis, Wang Yang never lifted his head, eyes fixed on the case files in front of him, as if trying to find some clues between the lines.

Chen Biao laughed and continued: ”Captain, I still think this person might be different.”

”Think about it, he’s been graduating less than a year and has already become a Deputy Captain in the Criminal Investigation Team.”

”Even if there’s a background as you say, to rise to Deputy Captain within a year, how much power must be moving behind the scenes?”

”Plus, this line of work in criminal investigation is different from other industries, it values real skills, relying on intelligence and strategy.”

”If he couldn’t convince the people under him with his ability, how would those brothers sincerely listen to him?”

”The last time they came to receive someone, I saw with my own eyes that Captain Li Jian treated him with particular respect, and the older officers nearby were even more attentive. It’s not something just background could accomplish, right?”

Upon hearing this, Wang Yang raised his head, rubbing his tense brow with his fingers.

After a moment, he spoke heavily: ”We can’t worry about that now.”

”This case in front of us is really difficult, we have to find a breakthrough as soon as possible.”

”You didn’t notice earlier, Mr. Chen specifically called me into his office and gave me a command regarding this case, requiring it to be solved immediately, otherwise, the impact will be very negative, and we won’t be able to explain it.”

”What does that mean?”

Chen Biao’s smile instantly vanished upon hearing this, hurriedly asking, ”This is... is the pressure really this big?”

”But we truly invested a lot of energy and police force into this case.”

”It’s not that we haven’t done anything, it’s just that there are too few clues.”

”To say that we haven’t worked is definitely not reasonable, a lot of work has been thoroughly done.”

Wang Yang took out the last cigarette from the box beside him, lit it with a ”snap” of the lighter, took several deep puffs, and slowly released smoke from his mouth.

He frowned and said: ”No way around it, this line of work emphasizes results, no one looks at how tough the process is.”

”We just have to bear Mr. Chen’s evaluation, right now the priority is to find a breakthrough in the case, only by solving it can we regain leadership’s recognition to our Criminal Investigation Team.”

”Solving the case! Easy to say, hard to do.”

Chen Biao sighed, ”Look at our team, we have over a dozen pending cases pressing on us, none of them is easy to solve.”

”It’s not up to us to decide.”

”Besides, when he was the Criminal Investigation Team Captain before, didn’t a few cases get stuck for a long time without being solved?”

”Solving cases isn’t that easy.”

Suddenly, both of them fell silent for a moment.

Out of the blue, Chen Biao seemed to have thought of something, his eyes lit up, taking the opportunity to say: ”Captain, I have an idea. What do you think about asking for support?”

”Support?”

Wang Yang was perplexed for a moment, then waved his hand, ”No need.”

”I sent the case files over to those old colleagues at the provincial department by phone yesterday, asking them to take a look.”

”They said our investigation direction is correct, even if they come, they might not find better methods.”

Chen Biao’s smile grew more evident, his tone carrying a hint of mystery: ”Captain, I’m not talking about requesting assistance from the provincial leadership.”

”Oh? Not provincial leadership, then who?”

Wang Yang lifted his gaze with curiosity. Chen Biao approached closer, lowering his voice: ”I mean, can we ask Jiang An to assist?”
