The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 494: Chapter 283: SWAT Team Support

Hearing the name ”Migratory Bird Mountain,” the others also turned grim.

Although their criminal investigation skills weren’t as strong as Jiang An’s, having solved many cases with him, they naturally understood his analytical approach and crucial tactics.

As his focus was on this place, it clearly indicated very important clues were involved.

Moreover, everyone had been busy all morning without any significant progress.

Their previously agitated mood suddenly seemed to uncover another direction.

Wan, being a local, stepped forward and said, ”I know Migratory Bird Mountain; it’s not far from the suburbs.”

”The mountain isn’t very tall but stretches continuously with quite a large area.”

After pondering for a moment, Jiang An turned and asked, ”Do people often go hiking there?”

”People do go occasionally, but I’m not certain about the exact number.”

”Alright.”

Jiang An nodded slightly, then refocused his eyes on the muddy sneakers in front of him.

Seeing the serious expressions on Jiang An and several detectives’ faces, the woman holding a child showed a moment of hesitation.

In her heart, she seemed to have many questions, ”What’s going on?”

”Is there a problem with my husband hiking? That’s not illegal, right?”

Zhang Yean glanced over and said, ”Don’t worry, we’re investigating the case.”

Just as Jiang An finished speaking, he turned and sternly said, ”Hiking is certainly not illegal.”

”But if someone goes into the mountains to do illegal things, that’s different.”

”No, absolutely not! Every time he goes hiking, he never brings back even a rabbit bird, and certainly doesn’t do anything illegal. Please investigate thoroughly.”

”Certainly, we will investigate thoroughly. But we have a question to ask: does your husband bring any bags or other items when he goes out?”

The woman quickly shook her head and said, ”He doesn’t carry a bag, not even his phone. He basically just wears a watch; he goes hiking and comes back without his phone.”

Instantly, all the officers became alert.

For someone nowadays, not carrying a phone isn’t a good habit.

After all, much of today’s communication is interconnected through smartphones.

Jiang An’s pupils contracted slightly, his mind instantly conjuring many possibilities.

He then thought of, during investigations of theft cases, one should always pay special attention to instances of separation from mobiles.

Someone suddenly not carrying a phone demonstrates anti-surveillance capability.

Originally, everyone was somewhat skeptical of Jiang An’s suggestion to go to Migratory Bird Mountain.

But, upon hearing this, all eyes once again focused on the woman before them.

After a long silence, Jiang An spoke, ”Let’s wrap up, we’re going to take a look.”

They gathered all their tools and walked out of the neighborhood.

Getting into the car, Jiang An took out his phone and dialed Li Jian’s number.

Though he was the leader of this investigation team, he was also the vice captain of the criminal investigation squad.

However, Li Jian was the backbone of the criminal investigation team.

After the call connected, Jiang An gravely said, ”Mr. Li, I have something important to report.”

On the other end, Li Jian was slightly resting in his police car.

The vehicle was on its way to Li Lei’s second wife’s home.

”Go ahead.”

”We’ve arrived at Li Lei’s residence, conducted thorough inspections, but found no valuable clues.”

”Oh, thank you for the hard work.”

After casually speaking, Li Jian slightly squinted his eyes, adding, ”But make sure you check thoroughly, don’t overlook any hints.”

Jiang An replied, ”Mr. Li, don’t worry! We’ve been very thorough and have reviewed it several times.”

”Alright then.”

Just as Li Jian was about to hang up, Jiang An continued to report.

”Mr. Li, there’s another important matter I must report individually.”

”Go ahead.”

”Though we found no clues related to the case during the site inspection.”

”We did find a pair of muddy sneakers at the interior doorway shoe rack.”

”Oh? Does it have any significance?”

On the other end, Li Jian asked casually.

His eyes slightly squinted, seeming not very interested in the clue.

”So what significance does it have?”

Instantly, Jiang An said, ”Through our deep exploration of this clue, we’ve discovered Li Lei has a habit.”

”Every weekend, he goes hiking, yet doesn’t carry his phone, and the place he visits is Migratory Bird Mountain.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Li Jian shot up straight in his seat. As someone who has worked in criminal investigation for many years, he naturally understood what separation from mobiles indicated. Immediately, he widened his eyes, asking sternly, ”Really no phone?”

”Definitely. His wife says he only takes a watch, essentially leaving early and returning late.”

”This is a serious issue and quite abnormal; it must be deeply investigated.”

”Yes, I also think so. Reporting this situation to you over the phone, we plan to explore Migratory Bird Mountain.”

”Alright, you must investigate.”

”Currently, with Li Lei in our custody, the opportunity is rare.”

”Migratory Bird Mountain covers a large area, and you don’t have enough personnel.”

”I’ll immediately contact the support team with SWAT to assist.”

”Received, thanks for your support, Mr. Li.”

”Our next priority is to check if there’s any suspect’s hideout in that area.”
