The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 473: Chapter 273: Not a New Case, but an Old One! (Part 2)

As he spoke, he made large gestures in the air with his hands, simulating a scene of body disposal.

”However, the locations chosen by those who dispose of bodies are usually far from their own activity range and crime scene.”

”The purpose is to sever the direct link between the deceased and the crime scene.”

”But if the killer hides the body, another significant trait emerges, which is hiding nearby.”

He paused slightly, his sharp eyes scanning the crowd to ensure everyone was following his train of thought.

”Hiding nearby...”

Zhang Yean mumbled to herself, and before they could fully digest and understand, Jiang An continued, ”From observing this body, I can confirm one thing: the killer’s action of throwing the body into the river is significantly different from usual body disposal methods.”

”This is a bridge; the bridge deck is relatively wide, and the river has a certain degree of flow.”

”Under normal circumstances, why wouldn’t the killer just throw the body off the bridge and let it drift with the river currents?”

”Instead, they chose a more precise method than the ordinary — hiding the body under the bridge arch.”

”Additionally, I recall that at the time of the incident, the body was placed in a bag.”

”This is clearly a typical sign of body hiding.”

At this moment, Wan’s eyes lit up, as if discovering a new world.

He clapped his hands fiercely and boldly speculated, ”Are you saying the killer is likely nearby?”

He jumped up excitedly from his chair, almost tipping over the chair behind him.

Jiang An turned to look at him with an expression as deep as a dark pool, nodding slightly.

”From my professional perspective, combined with criminal psychology studies, to make a judgment.”

”If the killer was dumping the body, the method of disposal would most likely be crude, and the distance would be far.”

”But in this case, the body’s disposal method is extraordinarily meticulous, so I infer the killer is very likely operating near this hiding place.”

Jiang An crossed his arms, slightly raised his chin, and his tone was filled with confidence.

In an instant, Zhang Yean’s gaze fell on a scene map beside her.

She clearly saw a red circle at the center of the map, indicating the crime scene.

The area surrounding the crime scene consisted of some urban villages and suburban junctions.

If the killer truly is nearby, where exactly might he be hiding?

She leaned closer to the map, squinting her eyes and examining closely, her finger lightly tracing the lines on the map.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Li Jian and a few officers had just returned from Ye Hui’s place.

Li Jian walked ahead with large strides, his posture upright, his eyes showing fatigue yet still sharp.

As he walked, he was unbuttoning his collar, seemingly trying to catch his breath.

A fellow officer turned his head and asked Li Jian, ”Captain, Ye Hui only gave us such a vague impression, how credible do you think it is?”

Li Jian leaned back on the passenger seat, his eyes slightly narrowed.

He extended his fingers and lightly tapped on the car window frame, and after pondering for a moment, he replied, ”I think the credibility is not low.”

”Although Ye Hui hasn’t done much legitimate work in daily life.”

”But I’ve checked his files; when he was young, he was quite honest and didn’t pick up any bad habits like stealing.”

”The key is, today we found him somewhat unexpectedly, catching him in the act.”

”Under these circumstances, he doesn’t dare play tricks with us, or else his shop might just have to close down.”

The officer asked, ”Time has passed, where should we start to look for this man?”

After thinking for a while, Li Jian said in a deep voice, ”We still need to find the case files from back then, to see if anyone with similar physical features was identified during the visits and investigations at that time.”

”If not, subsequent investigations might not be easy.”

He sighed slightly, a hint of helplessness showing in his eyes.

Just as he finished speaking, Li Jian’s phone rang urgently.

He quickly pulled out his phone to answer, ”Hello?”

”Captain, reporting to you.”

”Our investigation in Chuan City didn’t yield any substantive results.”

”After she left her hometown for work, she did get close to a man, but after living together, the man abandoned her, and impulsively, she ended up in prostitution.”

”Until her death, she never returned home, so this investigation was essentially fruitless.”

The voice on the other end sounded dejected.

After hearing this, Li Jian sighed helplessly, his shoulders sagging slightly, his face full of disappointment: ”Good job, be careful on your way back, let’s regroup in Jiangcheng and plan anew.”

At nine-thirty in the evening, Li Jian and his team returned to the detective unit.

As soon as they got out of the car, an accompanying officer wondered aloud, ”Captain, there’s someone still working inside so late?”

He craned his neck towards the direction of the conference room, his face full of curiosity.

Another officer replied, ”It shouldn’t be a meeting, right?”

”Both the captain and deputy captain are out, so who would chair the meeting?”

He scratched his head, looking puzzled.

At this moment, a thought flashed through Li Jian’s mind.

It might not be a meeting; it could likely be that Jiang An and the others are still deeply focused on the case.

”That indeed could be the case,” one officer clicked his tongue and said.

As they spoke, the three of them took the elevator to the conference room door.

As expected, when they stood at the conference room door, they found Jiang An busy at work.

Looking around, they could see some leftover food remnants, including steamed buns and rice, scattered across the conference room table.

Upon entering, Li Jian’s first words were, ”Thank you all, comrades.”

”Why is everyone solving the meal problem here?”

He had a gentle smile on his face, his eyes sweeping over the group.
