The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 490: Chapter 281: New Hope for Solving the Case

In an instant, everyone’s gaze once again focused on Jiang An.

Everyone was no stranger to criminal investigation interrogations.

As part of the ”three-pronged approach” to criminal investigation—carpet-style visits and inquiries, relentless pursuits of the murderer, and layer upon layer of interrogation.

However, the interrogation among these ”three-pronged approaches” never involved such logical reasoning.

Li Jian and Mr. Fu were quite surprised. They exchanged a look, and Li Jian’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down.

Standing beside them, Mr. Ma and the three department heads from higher up were even more shocked.

However, upon closer thought, this was precisely the effect of taking an unconventional approach.

For these difficult unsolved murder cases, if the investigation were carried out in the usual manner, it might remain an everlasting bloody case. Only by taking an unconventional approach could there be a breakthrough.

After a brief thought, Mr. Ma said in a deep voice, ”Comrade Jiang An, your concept of going against the norm requires careful consideration.”

His voice was like sandpaper rubbing against an iron plate, causing the window glass to tremble slightly.

Upon hearing Mr. Ma’s statement, Li Jian and Mr. Fu both chimed in, saying, ”Indeed, one must be cautious.”

Mr. Fu took out a handkerchief and pressed it against his sweating temples.

”Brother Jiang An, we recognize and are familiar with your ability to solve criminal cases.”

”However, during the interrogation process that Li Jian and I conducted in the interrogation room just now, we indeed did not notice any abnormal phenomena.”

”Not to mention the usual verbal contradictions, just by observing the various micro-expressions in the interrogation room, we didn’t see any extra actions.”

After a slight pause, Mr. Li continued, ”I’ve been engaged in interrogation work for nearly 30 years, having interrogated almost 3000 suspects, or at least 2000.”

”For this type of suspect, I still have some confidence.”

Upon hearing the statements from the Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team, Mr. Zhang simply observed quietly, still making an effort to think.

However, truthfully, he still wanted to hear more from Jiang An to resolve the confusion in his heart.

His gaze locked onto Jiang An’s face like a searchlight.

Mr. Zhang believed that the young man in front of him would never talk nonsense or speak carelessly.

Just as everyone was deeply puzzled, Jiang An continued, ”Regarding the person in the No. 1 interrogation room, I reviewed his personal file closely; he has been married three times and divorced three times.”

”But not one of these marriages resulted in any children, and the reasons for divorce were all due to incompatible personalities.”

”Now, he is over forty, which could be called having children at an older age.”

”Although he constantly talked about his wife and children at home, I checked his phone meticulously just now and found that it had no stored photos of his wife and children.”

Upon hearing this, everyone was taken aback.

”Could it be a new phone?”

Zhang Yean leaned forward and asked speculatively.

Jiang An shook his head slightly, his neck muscles tensed into sharp lines.

”It doesn’t seem likely, and activation information shows the phone has been in use for nearly three years.”

”His phone has no browsing history.”

”No way, does a person not use their phone to look up anything?”

Jiang An waved his index finger in front of him, the nail trimmed very short, the fingertip calloused from long-term file handling.

”It’s not that he hasn’t looked things up. I suspect he might have set a way to clear search history, meaning every search is followed by an automatic cleaning mode.”

”Huh? There’s such a way?”

Hearing this, Li Jian suddenly smiled, etching three knife-like wrinkles in the corners of his eyes.

He nodded and said, ”Indeed, I know this file cleaning method; I used it before.”

”In that case, should we further scrutinize whether this person is actually a suspect?”

Mr. Fu said solemnly, ”That’s not difficult. We can further verify all his internet activity through the cybersecurity system.”

Mr. Zhang nodded, ”Alright!”

”If the phone has been used for a long time, a normal person couldn’t suddenly detach from society and cease all information searches.”

”Not only that.”

”For a phone used for three years to have no personal photos, that’s clearly abnormal.”

”When something’s this unusual, it often indicates a major discrepancy.”

After a brief consideration, Mr. Zhang sighed deeply.

He said, ”Perhaps, as Comrade Jiang An just mentioned.”

”This person indeed presents a significant duality in perception.”

”On one side, he’s the image of a good father and husband; on the other, a person detached from society.”

”With such an individual, I think they fall outside the normal range of behavior for us.”

”Exactly, so I think we should focus on breaking through with this person to see if we can find any clues.”

After hearing Mr. Zhang’s statement, the others nodded in agreement.

If this person doesn’t have a split personality, he couldn’t be playing multiple roles and executing them so perfectly.

At this moment, an expression of hope spread among the others.

Mr. Ma took out a cigarette case but put it back in his pocket, the metal case forming a square outline under the fabric. What seemed to be ”there’s no way out” suddenly took an unexpected turn.
