The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 476: Chapter 274: Casting Far, Concealing Near

”Oh, go on.”

”In Crime Scene Investigation, there is a critical logic known as ’throwing far and hiding close.’

Jiang An said unhurriedly.

Upon hearing this, Li Jian narrowed his eyes slightly, gazing so deeply that it seemed he could see through walls.

He seemed to have heard of these four words somewhere, falling into a brief reminiscence.

Two minutes later, Mr. Fu clapped his hands excitedly with a crisp ”clap” sound.

”Two years ago, at the National Crime Summit, I heard an expert mention it.”

”I didn’t pay much attention at the time, but could this case actually fit?”

Jiang An nodded firmly and continued to explain, ”Look at the position of the White Bone.”

”Firstly, it’s under a wide bridge arch.”

”Although the water flow isn’t strong, if a body is thrown into the water, the current would quickly submerge it.”

”But how did the killer handle it?”

”He hid the body under the bridge.”

From the difficulty of execution, hiding it under the bridge is evidently harder than throwing it into the water.

”Moreover, in this case, the body has also been specially treated.”

”The killer placed it in a plastic bag and left it under the bridge.”

”I believe this method is carefully designed.”

”This meticulous design is actually an extreme form of hiding the body by the killer.”

”From this point, I think it fits our principle of ’throwing far and hiding close’ perfectly.”

As Jiang An spoke, he gestured the relationship between the bridge, water flow, and the body’s position.

After listening to Jiang An’s explanation, Mr. Fu nodded lightly, showing a look of sudden realization.

”Makes sense. I remember an expert analyzing it like this at the Crime Scene Investigation Summit.”

”However, the explanation was rather brief back then, so I didn’t remember it well.”

”Now that you mention it, it’s all starting to make sense.”

Li Jian narrowed his eyes, his mind constantly pondering.

He picked up the file, his hands trembling slightly as he carefully flipped through it.

As the saying goes, reviewing the old to know the new.

When he picked up the White Bone file again and saw the crime scene photos, the situation at that time replayed vividly in his mind like a film.

Suddenly, a clear crime scene photo caught his eye, showing the first photo taken by investigators under the bridge arch.

The body was indeed placed at the center of the bridge arch.

After thinking briefly, Li Jian frowned slightly and muttered to himself, ”Doesn’t it seem odd to you that the body’s location is too specific?”

”What do you mean?”

Mr. Fu turned his head stiffly to look at Li Jian.

”The body’s location is at the center of the bridge.”

”Even if we threw it down from above, the chances of landing so precisely, even with the largest throwing range, seem low.”

Li Jian walked to the window as he spoke, mimicking a throwing action.

After listening to Li Jian’s analysis, everyone turned their heads, their eyes following Li Jian’s movements.

”That’s right.”

”Captain, you mentioned it; the body’s location is right in the center of this bridge.”

Amidst the conversation, Wan suddenly stood up from his seat, walked to the middle of the room, and mimicked a throwing action.

”Just like this.”

”But if you were standing on the bridge and throwing it down, the possibility of it landing here is very slim.”

”Could someone have purposely placed it there?”

Zhang Yean asked curiously, her eyes wide with curiosity.

Li Jian folded his arms and paced back and forth in the room.

After thinking for a while, he stopped, glanced at Jiang An, and said gravely, ”We can’t rule out that possibility.”

”Regarding this river, when we conducted our Scene Investigation, we measured the depth; generally, it’s about 3 meters, with the deepest parts reaching 10 to 20 meters, and the bridge arch has an average of over five meters.”

”For such a depth, putting a body in the water isn’t something an ordinary person could do.”

”The key point is, the water surface is very wide, so just swimming across seems unlikely.”

At this moment, Jiang An propped his chin with both hands, his brows tightly knit, deep in thought.

He had also thought about this problem earlier.

However, he hadn’t thought it through completely.

After Li Jian’s reminder, he also made new discoveries.

Suddenly, Jiang An and Li Jian’s eyes met, and they understood each other’s thoughts; an idea flashed simultaneously in their eyes.

Immediately, Mr. Fu clapped his hands excitedly, saying, ”Of course, a boat!”

”If there were a small boat, even a very small one, as long as it could move on water, it can bring the body to this spot.”

”Exactly!”

Hearing this, Zhang Yean and Wan immediately became delighted.

Originally thinking it was just an ordinary investigation, they didn’t expect the discussion to lead to a description of the suspect’s area.

At this time, Li Jian’s previously tense facial muscles loosened a bit, and the corners of his mouth lifted, revealing a faint smile of satisfaction.

He looked at the file and said, ”If we really crack it, that would be great.”

”Haha, Captain, you’re happy too soon.”

”However, this case is just our preliminary analysis. Whether we can solve it depends on our further investigation.”

Mr. Fu was delighted, clapping his hands involuntarily.

”I never thought we’d make such a significant discovery after being down for just a few minutes.”

Li Jian laughed, putting his hands into his pockets, and said, ”That’s why unity is strength.”

”Anytime, what we see is just the tip of the iceberg.”

”What really makes us discover something is the major breakthroughs our team achieves together.”

At this moment, it was pitch black outside the window.

However, indoors, everyone was elated, filled with joyful laughter.

After a while, Li Jian laughed lightly, seeming much more relaxed, and said, ”At present, it seems that the killer likely transported the body to under the bridge.”

Mr. Fu pouted, folding his arms.

”If so, our range for identifying suspects is very narrow, likely local fishermen.”

”That’s a very good direction.”

”If we narrow it down to the local fishermen, combined with possible characteristics of the suspect...”

Zhang Yean smiled at Wang and said, ”Didn’t you pay attention to the Captain’s lesson just now?”

Wang was even more confused, ”What?”

”Did I miss something again?”

”Didn’t we all listen together?”

”Yes, we did!”

”But you missed the Captain’s previous remarks.”

”The Captain said that the suspect is likely physically fit.”

”Oh, I see.”

”My apologies!”

”I got a CPU overload just now.”

At this time, both Li Jian and Mr. Fu had smiles on their faces.

”It’s thanks to Jiang An’s prompt that we made progress.”

”Without Jiang An’s hint, I don’t think we would have discovered so many issues.”

”Well done, Jiang An; it’s thanks to you this time.”

In the end, Li Jian spoke with determination and a steady tone, ”Still, given the significant findings in this case, do you think the killer only committed these two crimes?”

”Should we dig deeper? What do you think?”

Jiang An nodded, standing straight, and said, ”Captain, I completely agree with your view.”

”If the killer committed a crime, there may be other cases.”

”I suggest we further investigate the suspect’s method to see if there are more similar cases.”

Soon, everyone started to take action.
