The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 453: Chapter 264: Profiling the Killer

Immediately, Jiang An’s fingertips gently brushed the edge of the drawer, a faint curve appeared at the corner of his mouth, then he asked, ”Mr. Li, was there any fingerprint extraction done on this drawer back then?”

Li Jian nodded and said, ”Yes, we extracted them, and there were a lot of fingerprints.”

”However, unfortunately.”

”We didn’t find any valuable fingerprints on this drawer.”

”Only the fingerprints of the two victims were discovered, no third person’s fingerprints.”

Li Jian said, ”It’s possible the murderer was wearing gloves at the time of the crime, or had a strong anti-investigative ability.”

Suddenly, Jiang An tapped three times on the bottom board of the drawer with his fingers, then leaned down and brought his nose close to the wood gap, his pupils contracted sharply, and he added, ”The possibility of wearing gloves is relatively small.”

”Because when the second-floor victim was killed, there were no glove press marks on her neck.”

”On the contrary, there were many fingernail marks on the neck.”

Then, Jiang An looked at the drawer, ”It doesn’t rule out the use of an isolating object when pulling open the drawer.”

”Was there a thorough inspection of this drawer at the time?”

Li Jian nodded.

”We conducted a thorough inspection.”

”However, apart from some loose change in the drawer, there were no other valuable clues.”

As he spoke, Jiang An pulled open the drawer and observed carefully.

At the same time.

Mr. Bai held his flashlight at a 45-degree angle pointing to the floor, after inspecting the situation on the first floor, he came to the second floor.

Hearing the ”bang bang” sound of footsteps on the stairs, Mr. Zhang and Mr. Ma instantly followed. After all, as the big shots sent by their superiors on the task force, they definitely had to be shown full respect.

After going up the stairs, Mr. Bai looked around. The second floor had five lattice rooms, which, after many years, appeared very dilapidated.

Mr. Ma came forward to explain, ”Mr. Bai, the second victim was in the innermost room back then, the other rooms were empty.”

Mr. Bai nodded and slowly advanced. The corridor had become quite cobweb-infested, and as Mr. Bai’s flashlight beam swept across the webs, a few motes of aged dust fell onto Mr. Ma’s epaulet, causing him to reflexively flick his shoulder. But Mr. Bai showed no sign of displeasure. After all, they had been doing this line of work for a long time, so what was there to be disgusted about? Far more gruesome scenes, like bloody crime scenes and decomposed bodies, were commonplace.

Soon, Mr. Bai reached the innermost room on the second floor with his flashlight. The room still maintained its original state.

”Besides the victim’s clothes and body being gone, everything else is just as it was originally.”

Mr. Ma pushed open the door and explained as he spoke.

As he spoke, Mr. Bai suddenly crouched down, picked the edge of a trash bag with his glove, his gaze behind the glasses sweeping through the expressions of everyone present like a searchlight, and asked in a deep voice, ”Was this trash can also not dealt with?”

Mr. Ma nodded.

”In my memory, it wasn’t dealt with.”

”Moreover, this trash can and the ones beside it look rather clean.”

Mr. Bai asked, ”Why are they relatively clean?”

”Could this be related to the time of the crime?”

Suddenly, Mr. Ma’s Adam’s apple moved noticeably, exchanging glances with Mr. Zhang, rubbing his police badge unconsciously. After thinking for a while, Mr. Ma said, ”Do you mean the time of the crime?”

”We received the report when someone opened the door and found the victim at night.”

”That person said he came in for a haircut.”

”In reality, he should have been a client.”

”According to the forensic examination, the time of death had surpassed 24 hours.”

”You know, for any body, when the time of death surpasses 24 hours, the time estimation becomes relatively inaccurate.”

”Therefore, based on livor mortis, rigor mortis, and corneal clouding, it can only be inferred that death occurred over 48 hours ago.”

After hearing this, Mr. Bai nodded lightly.

”That is understandable.”

”After all, the forensic inference is only a rough estimate.”

”Moreover, it’s affected by many things like the environment, air, and clothing items.”

”However, since all these trash bags are new.”

”Could we further narrow down the time frame?”

”Narrow down the timeframe of death?”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Ma pondered for a long time.

Then he said, ”Do you mean that the salon hadn’t opened for business yet?”

Mr. Bai nodded lightly.

”For such a salon, the trash cans in all four rooms are clean.”

”Doesn’t that suggest it was either not open for business or had just opened and then was attacked?”

Then Mr. Bai asked, ”When does this salon usually open?”

”They couldn’t possibly go 24 hours without resting.”

Mr. Ma replied, ”At the time, according to our investigations, this salon generally stayed closed during the day and only opened at night.”

”They usually opened after nine at night, as you know, being too early generally wouldn’t bring any business.”

Then Mr. Bai asked, ”Did these two women usually live here?”

”They both lived here.”

”There are a total of four rooms here, two for receiving clients and the other two for resting.”

Soon, Mr. Ma turned to show them.

”Indeed, the two sections upon entering look quite messy, and there are some toiletries too.”

”If that’s the case, can we determine that this case occurred during the day?”

Hearing this, Mr. Zhang suddenly took off his police hat and wiped his forehead, the outline of his chewing muscles becoming pronounced as he clenched his molars, exchanging a look with Mr. Ma, and they both nodded.
