The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: You Want to Perform the Autopsy Yourself?

Upon hearing this, Zhang Yean teased, ”Team Leader, you’re a forensic doctor, not a mage.”

”Can you make the dead speak?”

Jiang An replied, ”If you don’t believe me, you can come and see.”

He left these words and quickly ran into the criminal forensic department.

As soon as he entered the major forensic department office, Jiang An saw his mentor Wu You sitting at the desk.

He was sipping tea while looking at the fracture images on the viewing box.

For frontline forensic doctors, besides dealing with corpses, they must also conduct injury assessments for victims of intentional harm.

Which is what everyone knows as minor injuries, moderate injuries, and severe injuries.

Hospital medical records and imaging check-ups are essential for forensic injury assessment work.

”Mr. Wu! Are you doing an injury assessment?”

Jiang An asked.

Wu You turned his head and glanced, ”Someone had their metacarpal bone broken.”

”You should take a look too, it’s a bit complex!”

Jiang An approached the viewing box and glanced at it.

However, his attention was not on the viewing box.

Jiang An said, ”Mr. Wu, I want to go to the forensic autopsy center to perform another autopsy on that female student’s body.”

”Another autopsy?”

Wu You was a bit surprised.

”You’re diligent and eager to learn, which is great, but without the need for case handling, you can’t just do autopsies recklessly!”

”If it’s not for work reasons, performing an autopsy on a body is a crime of insulting a corpse!”

After reminding him, Wu You turned back to continue looking at the dark image in front of him.

Jiang An said, ”Mr. Wu, the case wasn’t a suicide, it needs to be reinvestigated now.”

Hearing this, Wu You turned again.

His eyes held a trace of discontent.

This kid is a bit stubborn.

Wasn’t Mr. Li’s attitude clear in the meeting just now?

The senior left you some face, and you don’t cherish it.

Wu You said, ”Jiang An, you have extensive theoretical knowledge, we all know, but this case has been closed.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Zhang Yean said, ”Mr. Wu, five minutes ago, Mr. Ma ordered to reopen the case. The female student was murdered, and a special task force is being formed.”

”Mr. Li is the team leader, and Jiang An is the deputy team leader.”

Suddenly, the reading glasses on Wu You’s face almost slipped off.

Like a roller coaster.

The nature of this case’s death changed just like that.

Wu You asked, ”What? Murder?”

He seemed incredulous.

Then, Wu You immediately dialed Li Jian’s number.

”Mr. Li, has the nature of that case changed?”

On the other end of the phone, Li Jian was in a meeting room.

He raised his hand to cover the phone’s microphone and said, ”Yes, please cooperate with Deputy Team Leader Jiang An’s work.”

With a bang!

Wu You’s eyes widened, looking at Jiang An!

Goodness!

On the first day of work, you take your mentor’s place.

Wu You continued to ask, ”Mr. Li, this case is unusual, shouldn’t we be more cautious?”

”Indeed a murder! Recognized by the higher-ups!”

Which higher-up?

He couldn’t even ask this question before Li Jian hurriedly hung up.

At this moment, Wu You’s heart, which had been beating for 50 years, suddenly went into turbocharge.

Unbelievable!

Too unbelievable!

His head buzzed, and he only remembered Li Jian’s sentence that he should cooperate well with Deputy Team Leader Jiang An.

To become a deputy team leader on the first day of work, Wu You, with his experience, naturally understood the subtle things that might be behind this.

With such a high starting point, one must either be wealthy or noble.

Immediately, he put down his teacup, stood up, and said, ”Team Leader Jiang, no problem, I’ll go with you!”

While speaking, he deliberately emphasized the words ”Team Leader Jiang.”

With that address of ”Team Leader Jiang,” both Jiang An and Zhang Yean were very surprised.

Wu You’s mood changed faster than flipping a book.

Knowing this was his mentor flattering him, Jiang An said, ”Mr. Wu, just call me Jiang, you are my senior.”

Wu You picked up the keys to the forensic autopsy room, stepped forward, and said with a smile, ”Team Leader Jiang, please!”

Thirty minutes later, the three of them arrived at the Jiangcheng Forensic Autopsy Center.

This two-story detached villa located in the suburbs!

The adjoining building is the Jiangcheng City Funeral Home.

The reason for this arrangement is mainly for the convenience of the transport, autopsy, and cremation of bodies.

Once a body no longer needs further examination post-autopsy, it will be sent to the adjacent funeral home for the last farewell of the deceased’s life, turning into a pile of ashes to be placed in a black sandalwood box.

Wu You, holding the key, opened the door to the forensic autopsy room.

A strong smell of disinfectant overwhelmed them.

But, if you sniffed closely, there was also a faint smell of decomposing corpses.

Zhang Yean had been working in the city bureau for three years, and this was her first time at the forensic autopsy center.

She looked around at the anatomical charts hanging on the walls, the forensic autopsy work photos, and felt a chill even in broad daylight.

Compared to Zhang Yean, Jiang An was quite familiar, feeling as though he returned to his own ”home.”

Before reincarnating, he was a professor at a medical college.

To supplement his household income, he often took on some death cause assessment cases in his spare time and routinely performed autopsies in the autopsy room.

His memories were of many instances teaching classes by day and conducting autopsies at night.

Sometimes, when confronted with difficult and complex bodies, he had to dissect them all night.

During his last autopsy, he died of fatigue-induced cardiac arrest next to the forensic autopsy table, becoming the second corpse in the autopsy room.

This is also why he was fortunate enough to reincarnate.

Wu You led the way, explaining as he walked, ”All these pictures on the walls are of us at work.”

”Hanging, burning, drowning, hacking to death...”

”Our autopsy room has four sections, allowing for the simultaneous autopsy of four bodies.”

”In recent years, the city bureau has improved the working conditions for forensic doctors by hiring a batch of autopsy workers!”

”They earn 800 yuan per completed autopsy.”

”During our autopsies, they assist us with the dissections.”

”We just need to guide them through the dissection process.”

”You need to see the heart, they extract the heart for you.”

”You need to see the liver, they extract the liver for you.”

”You need to see the brain, they extract the brain for you.”

”Haha, I haven’t personally performed an autopsy in ten years!”

As he spoke, Zhang Yean’s face grew increasingly grim.

Although her uncle is an expert in forensic science, she didn’t inherit the forensic genes herself.

Jiang An nodded while surveying the surroundings to familiarize himself with the environment.

Then Wu You pulled out his phone and made a call.

”Mr. Liu, we’re about to conduct an autopsy, please bring the tools over.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang An said, ”Mr. Wu, we don’t need autopsy workers today, I’ll handle the dissection myself!”

”You’ll handle the dissection yourself?”

Jiang An nodded, ”Holding the scalpel myself gives me a better feel!”

Instantly, Wu You asked in surprise.

Zhang Yean unconsciously took two steps back, her eyes filled with terror!
