The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 76: Chapter 76: What Evidence Remains After 8 Years?

Jiang An answered, ”I’m thinking, what evidence will this case leave behind 8 years later?”

Li Jian furrowed his brows and said, ”The killer was very cunning and wore gloves during the crime, leaving no fingerprint traces at the scene back then.”

”Furthermore, the original crime scene has been unlocked and handed over to other family members to deal with.”

”We also can no longer repeat the examination of the scene to find key evidence.”

Chen He clenched his fist more tightly.

He said angrily, ”I’m basically certain that these three people committed the crime, but I don’t have solid evidence.”

Then, Li Jian sighed and said, ”Actually, I feel that the time left for us is not 72 hours, but 24 hours.”

”After 24 hours, if we don’t have objective evidence, we will have to let Qin Yan and Lei Ming go.”

”Once the tiger is released back to the mountain, the chance to search again is very small.”

Instantly, all three fell into silence.

After a long time, Li Jian patted Jiang An’s shoulder and said, ”It’s getting late, go back and rest quickly. We’ll think of a solution together tomorrow.”

Subsequently, Li Jian and Chen He headed toward the interrogation room.

Jiang An glanced at the photos on the projector screen of the crime scene, squinting his eyes slightly.

He began to simulate the crime scene in his mind.

If I were the killer, how would I carry out this crime?

From the killer entering the scene, committing the murder, and then leaving the scene...

Many bloody images appeared in Jiang An’s mind.

Suddenly, he realized a very critical issue.

How did the killer get here?

And how was the quick escape made?

Could it be that the three people walked to the crime scene?

Did they walk away after committing the murder?

No!

Jiang An believed they must have had a means of transportation.

The entire death scene was very bloody, with the victim bleeding heavily.

The suspects would definitely have a lot of bloodstains adhering to them.

If they fled the scene in this situation, they would be at a high risk of exposure.

Recalling the previous case where suspect Jiang Yu remembered brushing past the killer that night, with a faint smell of blood on them.

Crucially, at the end of the alley, Jiang Yu saw them get into a car.

Based on this information, Jiang An was more convinced that they must have had their own means of transportation.

Following this line of thought, Jiang An believed that blood-soaked clothes, gloves, and knives could be easily destroyed.

However, a car is not easy to destroy.

Even for a vehicle to be scrapped, it must undergo strict inspection and assessment.

Jiang An believed this might be the only remaining evidence.

If the vehicle used for the crime was still around, where would it be?

After a brief thought, Jiang An recalled another suspect in this case, Lei Ming, who owned Thundering Auto Repair Factory.

The next morning.

Jiang An was resting in the duty room and heard a ”knock knock” at the door.

He dressed up, opened the dormitory door, and suddenly found Zhang Yean standing at the entrance.

She was holding a box of stuffed buns and a cup of soy milk.

”Didn’t have breakfast, right?”

”I brought this for you.”

Feeling a warm-hearted breakfast being delivered, Jiang An’s heart felt warm.

He smiled and said, ”Senior Sister, thank you!”

After a simple wash, Jiang An walked to the office while eating breakfast and chatting with Zhang Yean.

On the way, Zhang Yean asked, ”Are all three suspects still there?”

Jiang An answered, ”We haven’t reached 24 hours of detaining them yet.”

”If it reaches 24 hours, we’ll have to let Qin Yan and Lei Ming go.”

Zhang Yean shook her head, her gaze heavy.

She said, ”We’ve put in a lot of effort to arrest them.”

”If we let them go easily after 24 hours.”

”Honestly, I still feel very unwilling.”

Hearing this, Jiang An said in a deep voice, ”Senior Sister, no crime suspects without evidence, that’s the law.”

”That’s why we must do our best to find crucial evidence before releasing them.”

Despite not having spent much time with Jiang An.

But just now, Jiang An’s words sounded very convincing.

Then Zhang Yean asked, ”Detective, do you have any new ideas?”

Jiang An took a bite of the stuffed bun.

”Senior Sister, I thought about it for a long time last night.”

”If there’s any evidence left in a case that’s been 8 years, I infer it’s only the transport used during the crime.”

”The transport used during the crime?”

After hearing this, Zhang Yean said, ”It’s been 8 years already, that vehicle has probably been scrapped.”

Jiang An said, ”For such a suspect vehicle, I infer the killer wouldn’t dare to go through the normal scrapping process.”

”You mean the car is still around?”

Jiang An nodded and said, ”Among the three suspects, there’s one, Lei Ming, who owns a repair shop.”

”If hiding a suspect vehicle, I think that repair shop is the best choice.”

After breakfast, the two drove a police car to Thundering Auto Repair Factory.

Although the owner was arrested, two young employees were still working.

This time when they saw the police car coming, they didn’t greet warmly like last time.

Zhang Yean and Jiang An stepped out of the car and showed their credentials.

”Hello, we are officers from Jiangcheng Police Team, here to investigate a case.”

One of the young men set down the wrench in his hand and asked, ”May I know what the matter is?”

Jiang An said, ”Carry on with your work, we’re just looking around.”

Immediately, the two young men continued focusing on their tasks.

After making rounds, Jiang An and Zhang Yean headed to the yard behind the repair shop.

Apart from the scattered car parts, the left side of the yard had a large parking lot.

The cars in the parking lot looked incomplete.

Some vehicles were severely deformed, presumed to be scrapped.

Jiang An said, ”Let’s take a look over there.”

Then, the two came to the scrapped vehicles.

Zhang Yean said, ”Seeing how badly these cars are deformed, one can imagine the shocking nature of traffic accidents.”

Jiang An was highly focused.

He stared at the parking lot, attempting to identify the most probable suspect vehicle.

After some observation, Jiang An shook his head.

These vehicles had signs of severe impacts.

If it were a suspect vehicle, it shouldn’t have any impact marks.

Next, Jiang An glanced around, his eyes catching sight of the northeast corner.

There was a rusty old sedan with an old-fashioned model and a sense of age.

However, looking from afar, it didn’t show obvious impact dents or deformation marks.

In the next second, Jiang An quickly walked over, circled the car body.

The car’s exterior was intact.

Jiang An stood behind the car’s C-pillar and peered through the blurry window glass, vaguely seeing a pair of white latex gloves on the foot mat of the rear seat, with some darkish substance on the outside.

After long consideration, Jiang An raised his head and said, ”Senior Sister, I found the transport used during the crime.”
