The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Opening the Coffin, Extracting the Bones!

Then, Li Jian said in a deep voice, ”Please accept my condolences!”

The man raised his head and said, ”Please make sure to investigate Qin Xiao’s death thoroughly.”

”Rest assured! This is our duty!”

Immediately, Li Jian turned his head and asked, ”Do any of you three need to know anything else?”

Jiang An said, ”To identify the deceased, we need the DNA of at least one parent.”

”Qin Xiao’s mother has passed away and been cremated, so we can’t find her remains. The only option is to open her biological father’s coffin to extract the remains.”

Upon hearing this, Li Jian turned to ask, ”Mr. Yang, are Qin Xiao’s original grandparents still alive now?”

Yang Guang replied, ”The two elderly people passed away many years ago.”

Li Jian said tactfully, ”Because this female deceased’s appearance is unrecognizable, it is suspected to be Qin Xiao.”

”Now, to perform identification, we need her biological father’s remains to extract DNA.”

Yang Guang was taken aback hearing this, and asked, ”Are you going to open the coffin?”

Li Jian had a solemn look and nodded.

”Only by doing this can we make comparisons to confirm if the deceased is Qin Xiao.”

After a long while, Yang Guang hesitated a bit and said, ”People in our village are quite conservative.”

”Nothing like opening a gravesite has ever happened before.”

The man on the opposite side said, ”Although I am her stepfather, I think if Qin Xiao’s mother were still here, she would certainly agree to do this.”

After a moment, Yang Guang said, ”Since there is no better method, the only option is to open the coffin.”

Twenty minutes later, Li Jian, Jiang An, Wan, Zhang Yean, and Yang Guang stood in front of Qin Xiao’s biological father’s grave.

After following local customs, Yang Guang said, ”Mr. Li, we’re done here. You can start the excavation.”

Li Jian nodded.

Immediately, Li Jian, Jiang An, and Wan picked up iron shovels.

Yang Guang and several accompanying villagers also picked up iron shovels and came forward to dig together.

Thirty minutes later, the coffin lid was removed.

Jiang An put down the shovel, put on gloves and shoe covers, and said, ”You all take a rest, leave the rest to me.”

After speaking, Jiang An jumped into the coffin and bent down to extract the specimen.

Zhang Yean was already holding a kraft evidence bag, standing beside.

Seeing Jiang An lift up a thigh bone, Zhang Yean bent slightly, opened the evidence bag, and let the large bone in.

The coffin of this man was quite deep. After Jiang An finished extracting, Wan walked over and said, ”Come on! I’ll pull you up.”

Jiang An took off his gloves, reached out his hand, and stepped up and out.

Li Jian came over, glanced at the evidence bag, and asked, ”Is one bone enough?”

Jiang An nodded, ”Equipment is very sensitive now, one bone is enough.”

Then, Li Jian, Yang Guang, and others reassembled the coffin, covering it with soil.

After descending the mountain, Li Jian said, ”Mr. Yang, thank you for your assistance.”

Yang Guang replied, ”You’re welcome. You are fighting crime, promoting justice, and protecting our peace.”

”Our investigation here is over, we’ll leave first.”

Immediately, the four people got into the police car.

Wan asked, ”Mr. Li, where are we going next?”

”To Zhang Rui’s married husband’s family.”

Two hours later, the four drove to the northernmost township of Jiangcheng City — Panbei Town.

Wan asked, ”Mr. Li, Zhang Rui married into the neighboring Sanwang Village, should we go directly to Sanwang Village?”

Li Jian said, ”Go to Sanwang Village first, and go to her old home if necessary.”

”Okay!”

Following the navigation, they traveled west from Panbei Town and arrived at Sanwang Village.

While passing the cement road of Sanwang Village, suddenly a young boy riding a skateboard rushed out from behind a row of houses.

In the nick of time, Wan immediately slammed the brakes.

A piercing brake sound immediately echoed.

The next second, everyone in the car leaned forward from inertia.

Wan immediately turned off the engine and pulled the handbrake.

Immediately after, the four hurriedly got out of the car to check.

The little boy was scared by the brake sound.

He stood there in panic, less than 0.5 meters from the car’s hood.

Seeing this, the four gasped.

Wan said, ”I was scared to death just now.”

Jiang An patted Wan’s shoulder, ”It’s okay, it was a false alarm.”

Immediately, Zhang Yean squatted down and softly asked, ”Little boy, where is your mom?”

”Running to the road by yourself is dangerous.”

The little boy replied, ”Mama is missing, I only have Dad.”

At that moment, a voice came from behind, ”Mingming, come back for dinner.”

The four turned to look and saw a young man with a crutch.

Zhang Yean squatted down and asked, ”Is that your dad?”

”Hmm!”

The little boy nodded.

”Come on! Auntie will take you to find Dad!”

Immediately, the four walked 20 meters to the man with the crutch.

Zhang Yean put the little boy down and said with a smile, ”Go find Dad!”

The young man across smiled and said, ”Thank you! This little guy is very naughty and runs everywhere.”

Li Jian said, ”There are many cars on the road, try not to let the little boy run out alone.”

The young man sighed, touched the child’s head, and said, ”This child is also unfortunate, losing his mother at such a young age.”

Zhang Yean softly asked, ”His mom.....”

”I divorced his mom last year, now it’s just the two of us living.”

Zhang Yean said, ”That’s really hard for you.”

Then, Li Jian asked in a deep voice, ”We still have official duties, we’ll leave first.”

”Do you know Zhang Rui in this village?”

”Where does her family live?”

Instantly, the man froze, looking surprised.

Seeing the man’s expression, Li Jian was somewhat puzzled and said, ”If you don’t know, it’s okay. I’ll ask the village chief.”

Just as the four turned to leave, the man suddenly said, ”I am Zhang Rui’s ex-husband!”

As soon as the words fell, the four were somewhat incredulous.

Jiang An confirmed by asking, ”How old is Zhang Rui now?”

The man answered, ”She should be 23 years old this year.”

Jiang An thought of the age estimation of the White Bone; the woman with childbirth scars should be 22 years old when she died, with the death time estimated as last October, fully matching in age and timeline.

Jiang An glanced at Li Jian, nodded as their gazes met.

Then, Li Jian took out his badge and said, ”We are officers from the Jiangcheng Criminal Investigation Team, here today specifically to investigate Zhang Rui’s situation.”

Upon hearing that they were police officers, the man hurriedly asked, ”What about her mom?”

After a long while, Li Jian said in a deep voice, ”We suspect she may have already passed away.”

Instantly, the man staggered backward.

In the crucial moment, Wan reached out to support him.

The man’s eyes turned red and his eyes got slightly wet.

Li Jian asked, ”When did you two divorce?”

The man replied, ”Last October, at that time her cousin Qin Xiao introduced a new partner to her.”

”I originally thought, after divorcing, she would pursue her own happiness, but didn’t expect such a result.”
