The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Buy a Magnifying Glass, Then Examine the Bones

a.m. at dawn.

The external investigation team has returned to the station.

Compared to their vibrant spirits when leaving last night.

Now, everyone looks somewhat disheartened.

As soon as they got back to the station, Zhang Chao said, ”Xiaofang, go across the street and buy some buns, fried dough sticks, and soy milk for everyone. It’s been a long night, let’s have something to fill our stomachs.”

Xiaofang said, ”Mr. Zhang, sure!”

Ten minutes later, Xiaofang returned with a large bag of breakfast.

Everyone sat together and had breakfast in the station.

Fried dough sticks and soy milk were the standard combo.

But, at this moment, no one was eating happily.

Captain Li Jian ate a soup-filled bun and walked out with a cup of soy milk.

Zhang Chao hastily asked, ”Mr. Li, are you eating so little? Is the bun not tasty?”

”You guys eat. I’m not hungry.”

Li Jian walked alone to the rooftop.

He lit a cigarette and smoked silently.

At that moment, a rising red sun appeared.

He looked down at the entire jurisdiction of the Backhill Police Station.

This place is a newly established development zone in Jiangcheng, quite far from the city center.

Many factories are located here, there are many migrant workers, and the population structure is complex.

Industries like dining, entertainment, and healthcare are rapidly developing.

Li Jian was deep in thought.

Although he knew the two deceased were murdered and discarded, their identities were the biggest obstacle in the case.

Not only were there no documents or phones, but even their appearances were a mystery.

But why did last night’s thorough search yield no clues?

Were his judgments wrong?

Were they just ordinary workers?

Or was his judgment of the deceased’s pre-death location incorrect?

They were not from the jurisdiction of the Backhill Police Station before dying.

If it’s the first possibility, it’s not very complicated.

If it’s the second possibility, it’s far more complex.

Jiangcheng has over 900,000 permanent residents, and if we were to search them, it would be an extremely daunting task.

Not to mention the possibility that the killer came from another city to discard the corpses here.

Captain Li Jian felt overwhelmed with pressure.

Mr. Ma had high hopes for him.

Moreover, he had just achieved his first First Class Merit in life, the highest recognition from the police force.

In critical moments like this, the investigation had no leads.

Li Jian seemed very anxious.

He took a deep breath, extinguished the cigarette, and walked downstairs.

At this moment.

The officers finished breakfast and got up to walk to the office.

Many people’s eyelids were fighting, unable to keep their eyes open due to exhaustion.

The officer Lin Mu, who had been on the job for only a year, was the first to return to the office.

Last night, when they went out on duty, he shut off all the lights before leaving.

The office’s curtains were drawn, making the room very dark.

Lin Mu had just entered the door when he heard the sound of a fan turning.

He muttered to himself, ”Something’s not right!”

”I distinctly remember not turning on the fan before our outing for the investigation.”

Using the faint light coming through the curtains, he found his desk and first charged his phone.

Then, he walked toward the window intending to turn off the fan.

Suddenly.

His pupils shrank, and he froze.

Right there, in the direction the fan was blowing, a head rested on a stool.

The next moment.

The aftermath of the White Bone on the back hill flashed through Lin Mu’s mind: a head was missing.

”Ah!”

Lin Mu’s eyes widened as he instantly turned around and rushed out.

As soon as he reached the door, he bumped into Jiang An.

”What happened?”

Jiang An asked, ”Why do you look so terrified?”

Lin Mu pointed behind him and said with horror, ”There’s actually a human head here.”

Standing nearby, Zhang Yean chuckled and said, ”Don’t worry, that’s a reconstructed model of the deceased’s head.”

Then Zhang Yean turned her head and said, ”You see how we scared our colleague Lin Mu.”

Jiang An quickly waved his hand apologetically and said, ”Brother, sorry about that.”

”I just wanted to borrow your fan to speed up the drying process for the head model.”

After speaking, Jiang An turned to press the light switch on the wall.

Instantly, the room became as bright as daylight.

Lin Mu gathered his courage and approached the fan again.

”Oh dear, it really is a head model.”

He rubbed his head and said, ”But it looks so realistic.”

”Earlier, I thought about the White Bone crime scene missing a skull.”

”So.....”

Zhang Yean laughed and said, ”You thought the killer would be bold enough to deliver another head to the station?”

Lin Mu nodded awkwardly.

Jiang An said, ”That’s a movie scene, not the reality of our work.”

Upon hearing Lin Mu’s frightened exclamation, Zhang Chao and other officers rushed over.

As soon as he stepped inside, Zhang Chao asked, ”What happened?”

”What’s the situation?”

Lin Mu replied, ”Mr. Zhang, sorry for alarming everyone.”

”Earlier, I dazedly walked into the office and saw a head on the stool, which startled me.”

”A head?”

Following Lin Mu’s pointing direction, Zhang Chao saw Jiang An and Zhang Yean squatting in front of a head model.

He walked over with a look of astonishment.

”How did an art piece end up in the office?”

Jiang An turned and responded, ”This is not an art piece.”

”It’s a reconstructed model of one of the deceased’s appearances.”

At this moment, Li Jian also entered the office.

”Mr. Li!”

”Mr. Li!”

.....

Li Jian was a bit puzzled, asking, ”Why are you all standing here?”

As soon as he spoke, he saw the head model on the chair.

”This is?”

Jiang An answered, ”This is the facial reconstruction model of one of the deceased.”

Startled at the words, Li Jian’s gaze immediately settled on the head.

After observing for a moment, Li Jian surprisingly asked, ”Was this done last night?”

Zhang Yean promptly replied, ”Mr. Li, this is the result of Jiang An working through the night.”

Instantly, Li Jian smiled and said, ”Jiang An, well done!”

”Is this within the scope of forensic expertise as well?”

Jiang An replied, ”Mr. Li, I taught myself human skull facial reconstruction technology, this model was made using the Sculpture Method.”

Li Jian glanced at the reconstructed face and said, ”Jiang An, your forensic skills have once again expanded our knowledge.”

Instantly, the entire office erupted in applause.

After the applause died down, Li Jian looked around and solemnly said, ”Since everyone is here, let’s have a brief meeting.”

”Last night, you all worked hard, conducting visits and searches throughout the night.”

”Today, we continue to expand our search range, visiting factories, restaurants, and neighborhoods.”

After a slight pause, Li Jian turned to glance at the head model.

He said, ”Jiang An has reconstructed the deceased’s appearance, which is crucial for identifying the deceased.”

”Take photos of this model later and bring them with you during your visits. Post ’missing persons’ notices in communities and on bulletin boards as well.”

”Yes!”

Ten minutes later, Li Jian and Zhang Chao led the team out again for investigations.

At this moment.

Jiang An and Zhang Yean stood by the entrance of the police station.

He asked, ”Sister, do you want to go out to buy a magnifying glass?”

Zhang Yean asked surprised, ”Why buy a magnifying glass?”

”I need it for examining the bones.”
