Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 453: It’s time for a breakthrough

After that, Grey convinced Juli that he would not leave for a while and safely sent her out of his room, right after shamelessly taking the high-grade Tier 1 Origin Treasure from his own sister.

Before she left, she told him that she would actively bring him to meet her other idol friends soon.

”Speaking of which,” Grey began to laugh loudly.

Alissa.

She was also in the Lumina Idol Group!

He was quite honestly shocked. But fate as a concept was highly unpredictable, and he, as the Fateless One, knew that better than anyone. It loved playing wild jokes on everyone. Seeing the cold, indifferent beauty Alissa turning into a pop idol was definitely not on his bingo card.

But it did happen.

He wanted to see her shocked face when she finally saw him! Or perhaps she would just ignore him exactly like how his own family ignored him?

One way or another, he used to consider Richard his family, even though the total time spent with them was less than fifteen days.

”And from the looks of it, I was right. There was indeed a time dilation,” he muttered thoughtfully.

According to the online forums, the Lumina Idol Group was officially formed a year ago. Meaning, even though only a few months had passed on Star Blue, an entire year had gone by here in the central cosmos.

”And most importantly, the Dragon Clan.” Grey’s eyes flashed sharply.

Alissa was just as famous as Juli, and that was strictly because she was now revered as the Dragon Maiden of the Dragon Clan.

They had actually shown themselves to the starry sky and were actively mingling with humanity?

What the hell was going on here? And how did Alissa meet the dragons? Was her mother, Melissa, fine? And what happened to Richard, Wang Lin, the supposed protagonist of the era?

There were many vital questions waiting to be answered, but he would inevitably meet Alissa soon at the upcoming tournament.

He also wanted to see those arrogant dragons that decided to suddenly show their faces in public. He knew it had something to do with Alissa awakening as a true dragon and gaining the supreme True Dragon Inheritance, despite her being half-human before reaching the Transformation Stage at the 2nd Rank.

”This is the Breakthrough Bubble, Young Master. Feel free to use it.” Arnold stood respectfully beside Grey, who was looking up at a massive black orb suspended in the sky. There were many of them floating in this sector, and most of them were currently occupied by the prominent kids of the branch family.

Everyone present shot a glance at the Lost Heir. They spoke in low, hushed voices. Some who were higher than him in life level openly spoke in disdain, some in scorn, some in jealousy, and some in deep resentment.

Not a single one of them looked at him in admiration.

This was likely because he was not raised in the family. They felt like he was just another unexpected competitor fighting for resources. The main competition being the battle for high-ranking positions in the family hierarchy, since the Patriarch position was naturally reserved for Jeremiah.

But with Arnold standing right there, no one dared to speak up loudly.

”Did you get the stuff I told you to get?” Grey glanced at Arnold with a friendly smile.

”Yes. But why do you need one stalk of Tectonic Marrow-Root, two stalks of Sky-Fracture Lotus, and one stalk of Star-Moss, Young Master?”

”It is nothing. I just like decorating the places I visit,” Grey said with a smooth smile. ”Since this Breakthrough Bubble is a small sub-dimension that I can use to break through, I should naturally grow a nice garden inside it and create sentient plants that can fight for me.”

”Uh-huh?” Arnold nodded in deep confusion. ”If you need any sort of assistance, please do not forget to call me, Young Heir.”

”Will do.” Grey nodded and then entered the black orb without wasting another second.

The Breakthrough Bubble was completely empty. There was not even a solid ground beneath his feet, but he did not need one. He swiftly took out the Azure Spirit Furnace from his spatial storage.

”Almost a year in, and this furnace finally has its use,” Grey’s lips twitched slightly.

He had initially obtained it from the secret realm he gave to Lia. It once belonged to Brandon Everhart. Back then, he was just a 1st Ranker. Now he was a 4th Ranker, and it just so turned out that this furnace was a Four-Star item forged by a master blacksmith.

”But what if I use my own refinement?” Grey suddenly smiled.

He utilized his Shapeless ability to form a heavy forging hammer and immediately activated his top-tier Blacksmith Technique.

He summoned his Heavenly Flames, and the metal furnace began to rapidly soften under the intense heat, melting even faster when the dark Abyssal Flames erupted to join the mix.

Boom!

He struck with the energy hammer as the rainbow formed. The atomic structure of the furnace began to rapidly shift and compress. In an instant, it breached the Five-Star, Low-Grade threshold.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Within minutes, he completed the hundred-fold refinement, but he didn’t stop there.

He fully expanded his raw power to a whole new level, heavily forcing out his Nexus Overclock.

Finally, a brilliant rainbow hue formed on the exterior of the furnace. Grey wiped a nonexistent bead of sweat from his forehead.

Azure Spirit Furnace. Early Five-Star, Peerless Grade. Successfully refined!

Highly satisfied with the results, it was time to switch professions and officially become an Alchemist.

He sat cross-legged in front of the glowing furnace and took out the specific herbs he had ordered from Arnold. It was for the Chaos Evolutionary Refinement Pill he had comprehended earlier.

It was a highly refined technique useful even for 5th Rankers, and it strictly required Origin Treasures as a base catalyst. Grey desperately needed Origin Treasures to grow stronger and anchor his Seed.

He took out the Golden Apple he shamelessly stole from his sister and officially began the pill-making process.

Just as quickly, his heaven-defying comprehension triggered.

[System: Your comprehension defies the Heavens! By attempting to forge a pill at the Five-Star Rank, you have comprehended the Peerless Primordial Alchemy Art.]

”Huh?” Insight surged into his mind as a baffled look appeared on Grey’s face.

He actually managed to passively learn a supreme art, and it functioned very similarly to his Blacksmith Technique!

”Did the Blacksmith Technique act as the gateway for me to comprehend this?” Grey nodded in understanding and then began the delicate process.

This Alchemy technique required a highly specific sequence. The first step was using his supreme flames to completely melt the ingredients. Once they melted, the Origin Will of the universe would actively descend to test the creation. It would manifest a conceptual rainbow within the furnace. The alchemist had to precisely pierce that rainbow with their flames or mental energy. When that was successfully achieved, the pill would gain a unique Origin Effect.

That was exactly how high-level pills worked. Starting from the 4th Rank onward, the Origin Will deemed these powerful pills as items that shattered cosmic balance. It would actively attack the pill-making process by injecting the freezing coldness of the vast starry sky to ruin the batch by causing disruption in the process and adding in extra impurities via corruption.

The flames in his furnace began to violently flicker as the Origin Will descended, trying to snuff out his fire with absolute cold.

Grey focused his mind. He saw the conceptual rainbow appear in the swirling medicinal liquid and ruthlessly pierced it with his Abyssal Flames.

Immediately, the ingredients reacted. The Star-Moss formed miniature meteors, the Sky-Fracture Lotus absorbed simulated tribulation lightning, and the Tectonic Marrow-Root stabilized the volatile mixture. Finally, the half portion of the Golden Apple melted seamlessly into the liquid, granting it its first Origin Effect.

A pill’s final grade was strictly determined by the total number of Origin Effects stacked and the percentage of impurities successfully removed. The Origin Will constantly tried to add more impurities through its cosmic coldness to force a failure, and the alchemist had to constantly fight past it.

With the first Origin Effect achieved, the pill’s impurity cleanse reached 20%. His mind interface rapidly calculated the data flowing from the Information Layer.

He needed to cleanse it until it reached 100% and stack multiple Origin Effects to force it into the Peerless Grade!

Without hesitation, he pumped more raw power into his flames. His Domain Force surged, violently suppressing the invading coldness of the Origin Will. Soon, a second rainbow appeared in the liquid. He pierced it flawlessly.

Boom!

Another Origin Effect was achieved, drastically increasing the raw effectiveness of the forming pill.

Low-Grade, Middle-Grade, High-Grade, and Peerless Grade. These were the official cosmic grades for pill making.

For pills below the 4th Rank, simply removing impurities was enough. But starting at the 4th Rank, Origin Effects became mandatory to amplify the pill’s power.

One Origin Effect with 20% impurity cleansed made a Low-Grade pill. Two Origin Effects with 50% impurity made a Mid-Grade. Five Origin Effects with 80% impurity made a High-Grade. And ten Origin Effects with 100% impurity cleansed created a true Peerless Grade pill.

Right now, Origin Effects were rapidly forming within the furnace as Grey ruthlessly pierced through every single rainbow that manifested. This primordial technique allowed him to take massive shortcuts. While normal alchemists had to slowly cleanse impurities 1% at a time, Grey’s technique cleansed 20% with a single, flawless strike.

And soon...

Boom!

A terrifying, blinding rainbow light violently erupted out of Grey’s furnace. A glowing, rainbow-colored Chaos Evolution Refinement Pill smoothly floated out of the flames and hovered in the air.

”It is done.” Grey smiled. He could physically feel the terrifying potency of the pill just by sitting near it.

Its potency was amplified ten times higher than what the high-grade Golden Apple could have achieved on its own. The ten Origin Effects were firmly in place, and the 100% purity meant that taking it would never result in any negative side effects or unstable foundations.

Without a second of hesitation, Grey grabbed the glowing pill and swallowed it whole.

It was time to face his elemental tribulation.
