Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 250: Chapter 248: The Right to Make One’s Own Choice

The words were clear enough, Li Junping had come to persuade her since she couldn’t move Qin Jian.

All the good impressions An Hao had accumulated towards Li Junping were now completely gone at this moment.

Since things had reached this point, An Hao felt there was no need to say more, she smiled and stood up, ”Auntie, what you’re saying makes a lot of sense, and I wholeheartedly agree.”

”I knew you were sensible,” Li Junping said, overjoyed beyond expectation, not thinking she would be so easy to talk to, swayed by a single persuasion.

If An Hao took the initiative to give up, wouldn’t Qin Jian also give up?

But before Li Junping could start to rejoice, she heard An Hao continue, ”Liang Manman has said these words to me before, too. I’m fine with leaving Qin Jian, just let him tell me he doesn’t like me. I won’t bother him anymore.”

”Ah... An Hao, it’s just us women talking, it has nothing to do with him.”

”But this is Qin Jian’s marriage; he has the right to make his own choice, doesn’t he?” An Hao retorted.

Li Junping’s face turned unpleasant, ”An Hao, I think having your child isn’t bad, I don’t want to be rude but just look at your family’s circumstances. Our village is a poor village, and your family is the poorest among the poor. After you get together with Qin Jian, let alone living a good life, it’d be good if he doesn’t end up supporting your family. You can’t just find yourself a livelihood at the cost of burdening Qin Jian for life, right?”

Li Junping’s words were very provoking, and even hearing them made An Hao feel extremely uncomfortable.

In her previous life, she was looked down upon for not having money, and in this lifetime, it was the same because she didn’t have money.

Just wait, one day she would earn mountains of gold and silver and blind those people’s eyes!

”Auntie, I’ll say it again, marriage is a free choice now. Qin Jian and I are fond of each other, and if he no longer likes me, I won’t cling. If you want me not to be with Qin Jian, then have him come and tell me,” An Hao finished speaking and lowered her head to start packing up her books, ”Auntie, I plan to go out for a while, so I won’t keep you!”

After saying that, she moved the table and returned to the room.

”Ah... I say... This is infuriating!” Li Junping had been driven out and was very uncomfortable with it, but faced with An Hao, she found she had no anger to vent.

After all, An Hao had been polite and respectful from beginning to end, never saying anything out of line, so she could only stomp her foot and storm back home, fuming.

After dinner, Li Junping lay in bed tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep, pondering this matter over and over. Thinking that Qin Jian hadn’t sent money home for several months, could it be that he secretly gave it to An Hao?

The more she thought about it, the less she could sleep; the more she thought, the worse she felt.

She tossed and turned in bed and finally fell asleep in a daze. Suddenly, in the middle of the night, the weather changed, and there was a bout of lightning and thunder outside.

Crack~ Boom~ The incessant sounds were really frightening.

She buried her head in the blankets and deeply fell asleep again, but it was not yet bright outside when a knocking noise woke her up. She opened her eyes to see Qin Ru Hai beside her getting dressed.

”What time is it now?” she asked.

”Just after four.”

”Why are you getting up at this hour? Who’s knocking outside?”

”I just heard the village chief yelling that there’s a big fire on the mountain, telling all the men to rush up and extinguish it!” Qin Ru Hai said while getting dressed.

”A mountain fire!” Li Junping was alarmed, ”How to extinguish it? Ten years ago, a big mountain fire killed about a dozen of the villagers who were fighting the fire.”
