Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 239: Chapter 236 Sooner or Later, She Will Become My Wife

”Yes. Although there’s been some gossip, everyone is good-hearted,” Qin Jian said.

An Hao couldn’t help but laugh. Who would have thought that dating this guy would attract so much attention from others?

Qin Jian walked with An Hao across the sports field, encountering young colleagues along the way, each of whom would cheerfully call out to An Hao, ”Sister-in-law!”

The constant calling made An Hao feel awkward; she simply didn’t know how to react.

”Big Brother Qin... I should go back. I brought you clothes, and seeing that your wounds are almost healed, I’m relieved.”

”Not used to them calling you sister-in-law?” Qin Jian asked, smiling at her.

”Um. A little. After all, we haven’t... so many people calling me that... It just feels so awkward...”

”You’ll get used to it sooner or later,” Qin Jian said, looking at her with a hint of pleasure in his eyes, ”sooner or later, you’ll become my wife.”

The word ”wife” popped out of his mouth, making An Hao’s heart flutter with a tingling sensation...

Indeed, she would eventually become his wife, and since Qin Jian had abandoned his reticence in this life, she saw no reason to be so coy.

As the two were talking, they saw Jian Ying approaching from a distance.

He came up to Qin Jian, smiling, ”Today’s a day off. This morning, some colleagues caught a few fish in the river. We’re thinking of changing up the menu for everyone at noon. How about Sister-in-law stays too?”

”I’d better not...” An Hao quickly gestured with her hands. For some reason, she always felt a bit uneasy.

”Why not?” Jian Ying’s gaze fell on An Hao’s swollen lips, revealing a meaningful smile, ”Afraid that Qin Jian will bully you again? Stay, I’ve already talked to An Ping, and he will be staying too. Besides, Qin Jian has been bragging about how great your cooking is; Tian Niu and I are dying to try it.”

You should know, his wife’s cooking skills were average at best, and enjoying a delicious meal was one of his long-held desires over the years.

”Jian Ying, you’re not fat but sure love to eat,” Qin Jian glanced at Jian Ying, then turned his gaze to An Hao, ”Stay. I’m craving your cooking too...”

Seeing that they were both insistent, An Hao didn’t refuse anymore, ”Alright, then today I won’t be modest and will show a little of my skill.”

An Hao made her way to the kitchen. By nearly noon, just when everyone was getting ready for lunch, the place was bustling.

The busy kitchen staff, upon seeing An Hao being led in, were initially confused about the situation, but after they learned of her purpose, they greeted her warmly, ”Welcome! Welcome!”

The kitchen staff were all hands on deck, helping An Hao by washing and preparing vegetables, assisting her, and getting everything ready.

Looking at the ingredients, An Hao began planning the day’s menu. She looked at the meat, eggs, and vegetables, and a rough idea formed in her mind.

She planned to make braised potatoes, sweet and sour fish, garlic mustard greens, spinach vermicelli, and she noticed a row of Sichuan pepper trees outside the school; frying the Sichuan pepper leaves would be a delicious treat.

So, she decided to make those dishes.

They might look simple, but they truly tested one’s culinary skills.

Luckily, she had been a chef in her previous life and understood all the ins and outs of the profession; for her, it was a piece of cake. The kitchen staff usually cooked according to the standard recipes, typically opting for simple and time-saving stews. Now, seeing An Hao start cooking, they were all looking forward to what this eighteen-year-old girl would whip up.
