Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 243: Chapter 240 Rival Encounter

”Sure.” An Hao readily agreed and followed Qin Jian towards the cafeteria.

As they walked, Qin Jian said to her, ”There’s someone here with Chief Zhang whom you wouldn’t want to meet.”

An Hao stopped in her tracks, looking at Qin Jian in surprise, ”Someone I wouldn’t want to meet? Who is it?”

”Liang Manman.”

The name spun through her mind, and An Hao suddenly remembered, ”Is it that delicate TV journalist who fancies you?”

”Yeah.” Qin Jian nodded, ”But I don’t like her.”

An Hao blinked playfully and asked, ”Is Big Brother Qin afraid I’ll get jealous?”

”I’m afraid you’ll get angry,” Qin Jian replied truthfully.

”Mm-hmm.” An Hao nodded, her expression looking quite displeased, ”You really do have a lot of admirers, but I’m not afraid! With me here, I’ll cut them off completely, not leaving a single one behind!”

As she spoke, she even rolled up her sleeves, looking very determined.

”Good.” Qin Jian reached out and touched her head, ”I’m looking forward to it!”

When Qin Jian entered the cafeteria, Liang Manman’s eyes landed on An Hao standing beside him.

She wore a white shirt, dark blue straight-leg trousers, and her hair was tied up in a ponytail. She definitely looked younger, her youthful aura striking.

Standing next to Qin Jian, she genuinely resembled his little wife.

When rivals meet, their eyes flash red with jealousy.

As soon as Liang Manman saw An Hao, her heart felt uncomfortable.

She couldn’t believe she, coming from a high-status intellectual family and being the belle of the TV station, good at singing and dancing, well-conditioned, would be inferior to An Hao in any way.

Liang Manman stood up and walked straight over to An Hao, her face stern as she said, ”What are you doing here? This is a research institute, the workplace of employees. What right do you, a mere commoner, have to come here?”

Her sharp words were so grating that they annoyed many listeners.

Chief Zhang could not stand by any longer, calling Liang Manman back, ”Manman, that’s not the way to speak... Even though this is a workplace, An Hao is Qin Jian’s partner; it’s only right for her to come and visit.”

Without mentioning the word ’partner’ things might have been fine, but once said, it felt like a knife had stabbed Liang Manman in the heart.

Her sharp tongue turned directly to Qin Jian, ”Mr. Qin, did you come out to work, or did you come out to court a lover? You’re taking a salary from the organization, not doing your job properly, but instead causing a stir here! This is a work site—is it a place just anyone can enter? What if something goes missing, or gets lost? Who’s going to take responsibility for that!”

Qin Jian found her words extremely unpleasant. Initially, he didn’t want to quarrel with her since she was a woman, but it seemed he needed to say something now.

He was about to speak but An Hao grabbed his sleeve, ”If you have the right to come here, why can’t I? I am not an employee here, and neither are you. What gives you the right to speak without a care?”

Liang Manman, even without reason, was insolent, ”I was invited by Chief Zhang. And you? What are you?”

”I was invited by Qin Jian! So what if you can come? Can’t I come too? Liang Manman, please mind your language. I won’t stoop to your level this time, but if you insult someone again, I definitely won’t spare you!” An Hao said angrily.

What gave her the right to act so high and mighty? Was it just because her family was rich and powerful that she could bully others?

”You...” Liang Manman had never been accused like this before, and she was too angry to speak.

”Alright, alright.” Jian Ying hurried over to mediate, ”Comrade Liang Manman, An Hao came today to thank Qin Jian. He had helped An Hao before, so that’s why...”
