Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 240: Chapter 237: Control Your Primal Force

An Hao was stir-frying dishes as she talked to the person beside her, the atmosphere here was harmonious, and everything was carried out in an orderly manner.

Qin Jian naturally couldn’t stay put in his office, so he sneaked into the kitchen and stood by, watching An Hao’s petite figure bustling around the stove, feeling a strange impulse in his heart—really wanting to marry her right there and then.

To watch her cook for him alone!

The people in the kitchen saw that An Hao was dexterous with her hands, controlling the amount of oil when it was time to use it, adding salt when it was needed, and constantly monitoring the vegetables in the pot to adjust the heat accordingly.

Such skill was truly not something an average person could achieve; cooking for a crowd was difficult, and to bring out distinct characteristics and flavors was exceedingly challenging.

But under An Hao’s precise control, the taste had surprisingly improved.

Most importantly, her method of cooking was different from the people in the canteen, the same dish cooked in a different way naturally resulted in a unique flavor.

Watching his future little wife busy as a bee, Qin Jian felt a bit of regret—bringing her here might have been a mistake.

He was pondering how to whisk away An Hao, who was in the middle of cooking, when Jian Ying walked in from outside. He gestured to Qin Jian with a wave of his hand, signaling him to come out.

”What’s up? Got something to say? Why so secretive!” Qin Jian asked.

”Old Qin, have you made it yet?” Jian Ying lit a cigarette and took a leisurely puff, as if he were the one dating.

”Made what?” Qin Jian glared at him, ”Comrade Jian Ying, please mind your language!”

”Hahaha!” Jian Ying laughed, leaning into his ear and saying, ”After holding back for thirty years, you at least need to control that primal force inside you. Look how you made An Hao’s lips all swollen from kissing.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Jian’s brows knitted tightly, ”I say, Old Jian, why are you always staring at other people’s lips? Haven’t you heard of ’do not look at, listen to, or speak anything indecent’...”

”Ai ai ai ai... Old Qin, really didn’t see it coming! We all thought you were such an indifferent person, and yet you’re so protective of your woman. Can’t even let people look!” Jian Ying protested unhappily, ”I’ve gone to great lengths to matchmake you two, and not only do you not thank me, but you give me this ’do not look at, listen to, or speak anything indecent’...”

Qin Jian chuckled softly, then suddenly noticed An Hao choke a little on the smoke and wanted to rush back and take her away, but Jian Ying grabbed him to stop him.

”I have something to tell you, brace yourself, okay!”

”What is it?” Qin Jian said, eyes still fixed on An Hao.

”Zhang Jianguo, the section chief, is coming today,” Jian Ying said.

”Let him come, just give him a good reception. Do we need to prepare mentally for this? As if nobody has ever seen a section chief before,” Qin Jian said nonchalantly.

”Yes, you don’t need to prepare mentally for that! The key is, he’s bringing someone with him this time! I think this person might pose a certain problem for you!”

On hearing this, Qin Jian turned his gaze back to Jian Ying and asked, ”Who is it?”

Section Chief Zhang Jianguo was almost fifty, with greying hair. Draped in a coat, he stood by the window watching Qin Jian approach from afar, taking a draw from his cigarette and exhaling a curl of smoke, then turned to Qin Jian’s colleague and said, ”Look, your ’eternal ice mountain’ is here!”
