Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 229: Chapter 226: Stab in the Back

Thinking of Li Wangfu, An Hao’s heart was also far from happy!

”What do you want to do?”

An Ping scratched his head, ”At least we need to give him a good beating, right?”

”This pervert isn’t going to end up well,” An Hao said bitterly, ”If you want to give him a beating, it’s not impossible. I’ve tolerated this guy for a long time!”

”Okay!” An Ping rolled up his sleeves, looking like he was ready to fight, ”I’ll call Erzhuzi and Liu Xiaolian! Let’s barge into his house and beat him up!”

”Hey, don’t go!” An Hao grabbed him, helplessly poking his forehead, ”What do you use that brain of yours for every day? If you just rush into his house, it’s not certain who will end up needing to be taken care of.”

”Sister, what should we do then?” An Ping looked at An Hao, expecting her to come up with a good idea.

”Silly! Of course, we find a place where there’s nobody around,” An Hao said, a hint of a smile curling at the corner of her mouth, leading him on.

”That’s fine. But if he sees me, he definitely won’t come with me! Should I have Liu Xiaolian or Erzhuzi lure him out?” An Ping felt this was the only way.

An Hao shook her head, ”That’s just making them hate magnets! This way, not only will Li Wangfu hate you, but he will also hate your little buddies.”

”Right, right, right! You’re right!” An Ping scratched his head, looking troubled, ”If Li Wangfu really starts hating Erzhuzi and Liu Xiaolian, it would be troublesome. Later on, when it comes to work in the fields, he’ll definitely torment their dads to death. What if they can’t make enough work points? What would their families eat and drink then?”

An Hao wasn’t worried about that, Li Wangfu was already a grasshopper after autumn, not able to leap much longer.

Since the country’s reform and opening in 1978, some areas had already started the policy of assigning production to teams and to households as a trial.

Because some places took the lead and after seeing significant results, from January 1st, 1982, the central government issued the ”Minutes of the National Rural Work Conference,” which clearly outlined various responsibility systems for rural areas, including the division of farmland among households.

By 1984, almost ninety-nine percent of the country had completed the process of distributing farmland to individual households. Yet, there were still a few villages lingering on with collective production teams.

If her memory served her right, in her previous life, their village would implement the division of farmland among households soon after the autumn harvest.

By then, Li Wangfu, the production team leader, would be as useless as a fart!

Seeing An Hao suddenly lost in thought, An Ping called out to her, ”Sister? Do you think my method will work?”

”No need,” An Hao shook her head to dismiss the idea. She leaned close to An Ping’s ear and whispered softly, ”When it gets dark, you just grab a big hemp sack and when Li Wangfu steps out, throw it over his head, give him a thorough beating, and run. No trouble at all.”

An Ping’s eyes suddenly lit up, and he gave her a thumbs-up, saying, ”Sister, I really admire you! This is what you call a sneak attack... You’ve got way more tricks up your sleeve than I do!”

”Tsk!” An Hao smacked An Ping, ”What are you saying? Did you waste your time in language class? This is called being resourceful and strategic! None of this ’sneak attacks’ or ’tricks up your sleeve’ talk!”

”Right, right! Resourceful and strategic!” An Ping’s mouth split into a wide grin as he chuckled.

That very night, the village echoed with the sound of ghostly wails and wolf howls that lasted for a while before fading away.

The next day, there was someone in the production team with a face swollen like a pig’s head, heading down to the fields.
