Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 248: Village And Valley

When the Wen Twins and Qiao Ran arrived at the Chu Clan, Zhang Fei immediately brought them into the training space, where they handed him everything they had brought from the Qiao and Huan Clans. He then stored them in the system inventory and took Mei Xiang out of the portable mansion to train with the others; otherwise, she would be the weakest among them and be of no use to him.

Moments later, Mei informed Zhang Fei. [I will show you the results now, master.]

ʼHahahaha !ʼ Zhang Fei inwardly laughed after he read that. ʼHey! Major clans, such as the Huan and Qiao clans, are indeed different! They are truly rich! Moreover, the number of beast cores they have stored is also quite large, so I can buy some beast techniques.ʼ

[Which beast techniques do you want to buy, Master?]

ʼI havenʼt thought about it yet, and Iʼll pick a few later.ʼ Zhang Fei then said to all his women. ”Anyway, Iʼll go out first to get the third blood demon tree, and I will take it to the Diyu Realm afterward.”

After that, Zhang Fei left the training space and used his Nine Cloud Steps to go to the eastern region, but it took him quite a bit of time. He even had to rest several times because the distance between the two regions was too far apart—two times further than when he went to the Central Region—and he did not want to continue relying on Qi recovery pills.

Liu Hua and the others immediately resumed their training, while Qiao Ran and Mei Xiang found it overwhelming to train at the second gravity level. After all, they had never trained at the first level, and the other women let them struggle on their own, especially since all of them had fully adapted to the first level, so they didnʼt want to waste time waiting for them.

After a lengthy flight, Zhang Fei [1] and the six women reached a village near a remote valley, where Xia Qianqian inquired. ”Is this really the location of our last mission, brother? This village is really creepy, and I have a bad feeling about these people.”

”I feel the same way, Fei.” Luo Yu observed the expressionless faces of the villagers, making them appear as if they were living dead.

Gu Yan shuddered as she sensed the villagersʼ gazes on her. ”Hey, guys! Somehow I feel like they want to eat us alive, so it would be better if we left this village as soon as possible.”

”Why are you acting like a scaredy cat?” Ning Xiang asked Gu Yan as she shook her head. ”These villagersʼ cultivation is far below ours, and they wonʼt be able to do anything to us, so you shouldnʼt be this afraid of them.”

Du Yuan nodded in agreement with Ning Xiang. ”However, there is indeed something strange about these people, but I donʼt feel any negative aura from them, so I think itʼs just their character that is strange, especially since this village is too remote and they probably rarely get visitors.”

Unlike them, Mu Lingshu did not say anything about the villageʼs situation, but her expression clearly showed that she was fully alert to the villagers, and her right hand tightly gripped the hilt of her sword.

Zhang Fei [1] also felt that there was something strange about the villagers, and he had already ordered Mei to examine them, but she couldnʼt detect any significant strangeness from them other than their strange expressions.

Zhang Fei [1] then led them to question the villagers about their mission, but none of them wanted to answer. Instead, they simply shook their heads in response to each question, which made them feel even more weird about their behavior.

Ultimately, Zhang Fei [1] and his companions made the decision to depart from the village and explore deeper into the valley, particularly because their missionʼs objective lay there. However, the villagers kept looking at them from a distance, and their expressions turned hideous; even their mouths kept muttering an unusual language.

When they arrived in the valley, the women became frightened when they saw many human and beast skeletons lying in every area they passed, making the area look like an abandoned graveyard.

”What the hell is going on with this place? How can there be so many skeletons here?” Gu Yan asked as she hugged Zhang Fei [1]ʼs right arm, and he could feel that her body was shaking quite hard.

On the left side, Xia Qianqiang also tightly hugged Zhang Fei [1]ʼs left arm, feeling as frightened as Gu Yan. She immediately closed her eyes, as the scene in the area made her feel extremely uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, Du Xuan and Ning Xiang squatted beside the pile of skeletons and examined them; they discovered that some of them were new skeletons, causing them to frown. ”Fei! Look at these skeletons!

Zhang Fei [1] promptly brought the two women, with Mu Lingshu trailing behind them, to approach them. They both scowled upon seeing the new skeleton remains. ”These people havenʼt died too long, but I donʼt understand how their skeletons could be this clean, and there are no traces of injuries or blood on them as if they were skinned clean.”

”Could there be carnivorous beasts in this valley?” Mu Lingshu inquired after observing those skeletons.

”That could be true.” Zhang Fei [1] nodded in agreement and then looked towards the heart of the valley, checking the location with his map. However, he didnʼt see any red dots there, indicating that there was no life in that area. ”If I think about it, I donʼt think it was carnivorous beasts that did this to these people, and I suspect that it was the villagers who did it to them.”

”Huh?” The six women looked at Zhang Fei [1] with a shocked expression. ”Do you think they are cannibals?”

”I donʼt dare to say for sure, and itʼs just my guess for now.” Zhang Fei [1] then turned around and looked towards the village. ”Honestly, Iʼve never met such a person before, but Iʼve heard that people like them exist in this world, and their strange expressions make me think so. Anyway, we donʼt need to think about them; if they want to do something like that to us, we simply have to kill them.”

”So what should we do now? Are we going to wait here?” Mu Lingshu asked this.

”Yes.” Zhang Fei [1] then pointed towards the heart of the valley. ”I have a feeling that our last mission is related to that village and the villagers, but Iʼm sure they wonʼt act in broad daylight, especially since we are stronger than them. Thatʼs why we will rest here until nightfall, and they might make their move by then.”

Although some of them did not like Zhang Fei [1]ʼs idea, especially Gu Yan and Xia Qianqian, they still agreed with him and rushed to the heart of the valley. Since they had a lot of free time, Ning Xiang, Du Yuan, Luo Yu, and Mu Lingshu decided to spar with each other, especially since the place was very spacious.

Meanwhile, Naeth and the others had brought the fake Janette, who was still unconscious, to the Amaris Twins, and the two immediately ordered them to leave the tower afterward.

”Hmm? This aura is really that of a demon lord seed.” The Black Amaris then pressed against Janetteʼs chest to examine her, but she soon frowned. ”This is really weird; I canʼt feel the presence of the seed in her body.”

”Could it be that the demon lord seed has completely merged with her body?” The white Amaris asked as her fingers traced along the fake Janetteʼs front body. ”After all, this little dryad was born from Lillea and the seed, and sheʼs over 500 years old now, so I think the seed has completely merged with her body.”

”Yeah, you might be right about that.” The black Amaris then kissed the fake Janette and absorbed her demon power, but she didnʼt realize that she was also absorbing something else, which was intentionally planted by Zhang Fei in her body. However, it would not have an immediate effect on her, especially since he didnʼt want her to notice it. ”Hehehe!

Her demon power is indeed much stronger than that of other Dryads, including Lillea, and it must be due to the effect of the demon lord seed, which we can absorb in turn to make us stronger.”

”Yes.” The white Amaris nodded before kissing the fake Janette before absorbing her demon power; she also unknowingly absorbed the thing that Zhang Fei had planted in her body. ”The demon lord seed is indeed amazing, but we canʼt achieve the maximum effect because it has merged with her body. Therefore, I believe we should begin our search for the remaining nine seeds.

That way, our power will be able to surpass the other rulers, and we will become the third demon lord.”

After hearing that, the black Amaris let out a heavy sigh, as she herself really wanted to get one of the nine demon lord seeds. ”Unfortunately, we and the other rulers have searched for them all over our realm, but weʼve never found a single one of them. Moreover, Rose told me that Lillea found one not because she was looking for it, but because the seed summoned her to its location by itself.”

”Do you think we should forget about those demon seeds?” After considering her twin sisterʼs words, the white Amaris inquired. ”Unlike us and the other rulers, Lillea had no intention of looking for the seed; as a result, it chose her and summoned her to its location. Thatʼs why we should forget about them, and one of them might summon us if we have no desire to obtain it.”

”Perhaps youʼre right about that, so we donʼt have to keep thinking about them.” The black Amaris then turned to the fake Janette. ”Moreover, we have this Dryad now, and we have to make the best use of the demon seed inside her body, so the other rulers wonʼt be able to stop us if we want to rise to become the next demon lord in the future.”

The white Amaris faintly smiled as she gazed at the fake Janette, mulling over an idea without her twin sisterʼs knowledge. ”Anyway, what about Ashreth? Has she contacted you?”

”Not yet.” With a shake of her head, the black Amaris answered her question. ”We donʼt know where Feltia lives in Zygozʼs sub-realm, and his sub-realm is a bit bigger than ours, so she must still be looking for her living place. Why do you ask about that? Are you still thinking about summoning that succubi to this tower?”

”Yes.” The white Amaris didnʼt deny it. ”We both know that Feltia is far different than the other succubi, so Iʼm sure her demon power must be strong enough to increase our strength. Thatʼs why I considered summoning her here, so we could equally share her demon power.”

The black Amaris nodded in understanding. ”All right, we will wait for Feltia to return to our sub-realm, and I will immediately ask Ashreth to bring her here regardless of whether she has bad intentions or not, so we can absorb her demon power for ourselves.”

”In that case, Iʼll go check something first, and Iʼll be back in a few days.”

After her twin sister left their room, the black Amaris immediately woke up the fake Janette, causing her panic and fear when she saw her. ʼ Ugh! Where am I? Who is this woman? Why does she look so scary?

The black Amaris smiled at her expression and grabbed her cheeks. ”Are you afraid of me, young Dryad?”

ʼDryads? What did she mean by that?ʼ Zhang Fei deliberately did not manipulate her mind, so the fake Janette or You Han still had her own memories intact, even though she had turned into a Dryad. She became increasingly panicked as she tried to speak, especially since no words came out of her mouth. ʼWhat happened to me? Why canʼt I talk?”

”Hmm?” The black Amaris raised her eyebrows when she saw the fake Janette unable to speak, so she opened her mouth. ”Oh? I donʼt know what happened to you, but you no longer have a tongue and vocal cords, so itʼs no wonder you canʼt speak. Anyway, you donʼt have to be afraid of me, especially since I wonʼt kill you, and I might treat you well as long as you can serve me properly.”
