Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 239: Sky Jade Realm History II

As he rubbed the fox image on the book, Oliver told his granddaughter again. ”In the beginning, there was only one heavenly fox that was born in this realm, but no one knew about his existence before the great event. His power far exceeded that of the other natural races, and this ten-tailed fox in this image is his true form.”

”If this ten-tailed fox is as powerful as you say, then where is he now?” Zefyr asked with a doubtful look.

”Hehe, I havenʼt finished telling it yet.” Zefyr nodded at Oliver, who immediately continued. ”In the distant past, this realm was known not as the Sky Jade Realm but as the Heaven Wilderness Realm, and it was one of the numerous realms within the upper realms.

At that time, life in this realm was calm and peaceful, especially since there were no humans living in it and there were only natural races in it. However, when human cultivators discovered and settled in this realm, the situation began to change. Their numbers continued to grow as time went on, but we were able to coexist peacefully for a long time.

However, human nature is fundamentally flawed, characterized by greed, violence, and cruelty. Besides, they reproduce faster than us, and their population eventually becomes much larger than ours, which makes our races slowly marginalized, and we become a minority in our birth realm.”

”Tch!” Zefyr gritted her teeth before speaking angrily. ”Thatʼs why Iʼve always hated humans because theyʼre lower than beasts! They killed my parents, even though they didnʼt do anything to them! If my great-grandfather hadnʼt forbidden me to kill those humans, I would have killed every human I met.”

Oliver let out a heavy sigh after hearing Zefyrʼs words. ”As time progressed, those humans began to turn hostile and hunt us natural races, resulting in a rapid decline in our populations, particularly due to our slow population growth. One day, a great war broke out between humans and the natural races in this realm, and the ten-tailed fox showed himself for the first time at that time.”

”So, it was the ten-tailed fox that stopped the war?” Zefyr asked in surprise. .

”Yes.” Oliver nodded at Zefyr. ”The ten-tailed fox stopped the war against those human cultivators by himself, and he slaughtered three-quarters of their population, drenching the entire area of this realm with their blood.”

”Huh!” Zefyr exclaimed in shock. ”Is the ten-tailed fox really that powerful, Grandpa?”

”Ha ha ha!” Oliver laughed out loud, seeing his granddaughterʼs shocked expression. ”The ten-tailed foxʼs power is truly terrifying, shaking even heaven, and his enormous body can cover half of this realm when he flies in the sky.”

After hearing that, Zefyrʼs jaw dropped, especially since the Sky Jade Realm wasnʼt that small, which meant the ten-tailed foxʼs body was truly enormous.

”Hehe, I already knew you would be so shocked.” Oliver spoke as she caressed Zephyrʼs tiny head. ”After the war was over, the ten-tailed fox became the sole ruler of this realm, and his presence brought peace to this realm, allowing humans and our natural races to coexist in peace again.

Several thousand years later, he felt that the Qi in this realm had been steadily depleting, which he believed was due to his own presence.”

”Then, what happened next, Grandpa?” Zefyr inquired impatiently.

”Why are you so impatient?” But Oliver immediately continued his story. ”Despite the ten-tailed foxʼs cunning, arrogance, and cruelty, he also possesses a kind heart. After thinking about it for quite some time, he chose to sacrifice himself for the sake of all the inhabitants of this realm.

However, he also made a decision that shook this realm, particularly when he decided to use all his strength to move this realm to a very faraway location, as he didnʼt want strong human cultivators from other realms to come to this realm. After he exhausted his strength, he split himself into two heavenly foxes, and they are the ancestors of the current heavenly fox race.”

Zefyr nodded in understanding, then asked again. ”Then, what does this story have to do with Zhang Fei [1], Grandpa?”

”Before the ten-tailed fox split himself into two, he had already left an inscription on the stone in the deepest part of this forest.” Zefyr raised his eyebrows upon hearing this, particularly because his grandfather and other seniors had always forbidden young members of the nature race like her from venturing there, thus preventing her from learning about it.

”Letʼs go; Iʼll show it to you, especially since youʼre old enough now, so youʼre qualified to go in there.”

”Yes.” Zefyr immediately flew behind Oliver.

Soon, they reached the very back of the forest city, where Oliver promptly activated the plant formation before leading Zefyr out of the city. After that, the two of them flew deeper into the forest until they arrived at a large lake, and the scenery in the area was very beautiful.

Oliver then brought Zefyr to a small piece of land in the middle of the lake, but there was only a fox statue there, as well as a stone monument with ancient writing.

”See this writing?” Oliver asked while pointing at the stone monument. ”The ten-tailed fox wrote it himself, so our ancestors have always taken care of this monument, and the writing is: One day in the future, the ten-tailed fox will return to this realm once again. However, he is more than a heavenly fox; he is also a human and a demon.

He is the one who will bring peace for humans, demons, and natural races.”

After hearing that, Zefyrʼs eyes widened in shock, and she looked at her grandfather seriously, as the features he mentioned resembled those of Zhang Fei [1]. ”How could it be so coincidental? Could it be that the ten-tailed fox has the ability to foresee the future?”

”The ten-tailed fox is too mysterious, and he has always lived in this lake in solitude, so no one knew about his true abilities.” Oliver then turned to Zefyr. ”Aside from his two identities as a human and a heavenly fox, Zhang Fei [1] should also be a demon, right?”

”Yes, Grandpa.” Zefyr replied with a nod. ”At first, I didnʼt know that he was a demon, but when I helped him obtain the wind element, I discovered his darkness element. However, I felt strange about him because he also had the light element, and the two elements shouldnʼt be able to coexist in one body, but the fact is that he has both.

Thatʼs why I questioned him about this, to which he responded by revealing his demon form.”

”Youʼre right about that.” Oliver expressed his agreement with a nod. ”In reality, light and darkness can never coexist together, but Zhang Fei [1] is an anomaly. In this universe, he is the only living being who has three real forms: a human, a heavenly fox, and a demon.

The heavenly fox is the owner of the light element, and the demon is always related to the darkness element, so it is natural that he has both elements in his body. Have you told him about us?”

”Iʼve given my pendant to him.” Zefyr replied with a nod.

”I see.” Oliver then patted Zefyrʼs head gently. ”I want you to go to his side, and you must protect him, especially since he is the only living being who can bring peace to this universe.”

”Eh?” After a moment of surprise, Zefyr immediately agreed to her grandfatherʼs request. ”I donʼt know where he lives, but I think he should still be in the southern region now, so Iʼll go to that region again to look for him.”

After they arrived at the Yin-Yang Pavilion, Lin Dongʼer immediately rushed to her father and told him about Du Ruhui, causing Lin Haoʼs face to darken. ”Father, Zhang Fei [1] asked you not to do anything to him for now, especially since he has his own plans for him, and he also asked you to keep an eye on Yin Tong.”

”Yin Tong? Why did he ask me to keep an eye on that brat?” Lin Hao questioned his daughter, looking puzzled.

”I donʼt know for sure about that.” Lin Dongʼer answered with a shake of her head. ”However, Zhang Fei [1] told me of Yin Tongʼs bad character and expressed concern about his potential betrayal, prompting him to request that you monitor him closely.”

Lin Hao did not understand how Zhang Fei [1] could judge a personʼs character, but he himself realized that Yin Tong was indeed not a good man, so he immediately agreed with that. ”All right, I will watch that brat closely, and I will stop him if he shows any bad behavior.

As for Du Ruhui, I must first discuss this matter with Vice Sect Master Luanʼer and Mistress Shen, especially since this matter is very serious if the Du Clan really has a relationship with the Pang Clan.”

After his daughter left, Lin Hao contacted Yan Luanʼer and Shen Xueyi. Shortly after, the two women arrived in front of him, so he immediately shared the information from his daughter with them.

”Actually, we already know that the Du Clan is one of the vassals of the Pang Clan, and Liu Rong has also ordered her clan members to monitor their movements.” Lin Hao was surprised by Shen Xueyiʼs answer, which was confirmed by Yan Luanʼerʼs nod of agreement.

”However, I didnʼt expect that Du Ruhui would cooperate with those bandits to trap our disciples, which means those people from the heretic clan want to use them to weaken us from within.”

”I thought the same as you, Mistress.” Yan Luanʼer nodded and said. ”Unfortunately, they are unaware of the presence of Zhang Fei [1], a dark horse in our sect. Moreover, he could defeat those bandits so easily, and our disciples would have already fallen into their hands if not for him. So, what do we do about Du Rui? Are we going to follow his plan?”

”Zhang Fei [1] can handle Du Ruhuiʼs case, but we still need to monitor him while he stays in our sect.” Shen Xueyi then questioned Lin Hao. ”Did your daughter tell you anything else?”

”Zhang Fei [1] also asked me to keep an eye on Yin Tong.” Both women raised their eyebrows after hearing Lin Haoʼs answer. ”That brat from the Yin Clan doesnʼt have a good character, and he suspects that he might betray us.”

Shen Xueyi nodded in understanding. ”All right, you can keep an eye on Yin Tong, Elder Lin. If he intends to do anything bad in our sect, then you can immediately capture him and lock him up in the punishment hall.”

”Yes, Mistress.” After the two women left, Lin Hao also left his room, and he followed Yin Tongʼs movements from a distance.

Yin Tong, who was still unaware that Lin Hao was watching her, kept cursing in her room. He truly felt jealous of Zhang Fei [1], who had so many partners, and he also felt humiliated because Lin Dongʼer and the others were so obedient to him.

Ni Weiwei naturally knew her partnerʼs character, but she did not seem to care about Yin Tong, and she kept racking her brains to find a way to get close to Zhang Fei [1]. ʼWho can help me get close to him? Should I use Kexin as bait to lure him to me? Nah! He wonʼt be interested in her because she lacks beauty and is tomboyish; therefore, I need to find someone else who can assist me.ʼ

Meanwhile, Yun Kexin sat on the chair with her head lowered, but no one knew what she was thinking, especially since she rarely spoke and always kept her feelings to herself.

”Hey! How about we go see Senior Ruhui?” Abruptly, Yin Tong questioned her two partners.

Both women frowned as they looked up at Yin Tong, prompting Ni Weiwei to question him. ”Are you crazy? Lin Dongʼer must have informed her father about Du Ruhuiʼs situation, and Elder Lin is likely monitoring him at the moment, putting us in danger if we meet him.”

”Big Brother, I know you feel resentful towards Zhang Fei [1], but I think you should forget your anger towards him, and you donʼt need to see Senior Ruhui either.” Yun Kexin also tried to persuade Yin Tong.

”Tch! You two are cowards!” Yin Tong cursed at them before leaving his room again, leaving his partners behind.

”Arenʼt you going to stop him, Big Sis Wei?”

”No need.” Ni Weiwei refused with a shake of her head. ”Since heʼs unwilling to listen to us, let him bear the consequences himself. Moreover, he is just our dual cultivation partner, and we can find another partner if he is punished by the elders.”

Yun Kexin let out a soft sigh, and she immediately followed Ni Weiwei, who hurriedly left their partnerʼs room.
