The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 206: Chapter 206: A Belated Promise

The three of them, because of the mistakes made back then, each wasted twenty years. Now, is it time for everything to return to where it belongs?

Han Si Qu doesn’t know, and he can’t say.

He really isn’t that magnanimous of a person.

If he could, he’d really like to reclaim everything they’ve owed him over these years. Why did their impulsive recklessness change his life back then? And twenty years later, they seek to make amends and reconcile, while he is supposed to graciously step aside?

He can’t bring himself to facilitate this, he really can’t.

He feels he simply can’t do it.

Yet he knows that Su Yaogeng hasn’t truly been happy all these years, except when facing Han Jing, where she becomes genuine and lively. When facing others, she is always indifferent and distant. But the Su Yaogeng of the past was clearly a lively, smiling woman who dared to love and hate.

If enabling her rebirth would... is it worth it?

Su Yaogeng turned her head, failing to see the despair and struggle in Han Si Qu’s eyes.

She looked at Han Si Que, silent for a long time.

His words were indeed the promises she wanted, but they were the promises she wanted twenty years ago.

She knew her inherent inadequacies, she knew that being with him was unfair to him, and she also experienced hesitation and retreat, going through intense inner struggles before deciding to be with him. Because more than once, he swore eternal devotion to her, with vows that would never be broken.

She hated her own naivety and how she took those words as truth. Back then, she really believed that as long as they loved each other, nothing else would matter.

Even if staying in the capital meant he couldn’t explain it to his family, she was willing to leave everything behind and elope with him, perhaps hiding away in the Spirit Cultivation Realm as an immortal couple.

The Han Family didn’t have just him as the sole heir; Han Si Qu might also bear the familial burdens.

She thought there really was a way out and believed that after all life’s hurt, the heavens had given her a true compensation.

So no matter how unspeakable that matter was, after suffering intense anguish, driven by her wholehearted love and trust in him, she believed she wouldn’t be let down and laid that secret bare to him.

Then reality struck her most harshly at that moment. The man she loved so faithfully comforted her with promises on one hand, yet grappled with the so-called unshirkable family responsibilities on the other, and ultimately chose his family, becoming betrothed to another woman.

No one knew how desperate she was at that time. She even thought about killing him and following him to the end. She hated her pride for being devoted to the wrong man, and she hated herself most for being unable to escape the worldly norms, constantly manipulated by fate.

Fearful that she might not be able to resist forcibly taking him back and transforming that love into irrevocable hatred, she resolutely married Han Si Qu, her decision surprising everyone. She admitted she was driven by hatred then, choosing to marry his younger brother as revenge.

In retrospect, how foolishly laughable.

Twenty years have passed, and all the love and hate have been buried by time. After falling out of love, she found it wasn’t as painful or desperate as she imagined. She even adopted a very lovely daughter and, watching her grow up little by little, realized she could indeed attain happiness, couldn’t she?
