The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 203: Chapter 203: He Thought He Would Never Fall in Love with Her

But in Han Siqu’s ears, his explanation sounded more like sarcasm.

”You haven’t done anything disgraceful? What disgraceful things are you still planning to do?” Han Siqu looked at Han Si Que and burst into laughter, ”I have always respected you. I also know that I can never compare to you. But don’t forget, she is my wife!”

Han Siqu never thought he actually cared this much about Su Yaogeng.

When they were children, Su Yaogeng was very beautiful, though somewhat domineering, she was still likable, and he liked her a lot too.

But he was self-aware enough to know that with his ability and his status, he was not worthy of her, so he never allowed himself to love her.

He thought that one day she would become his sister-in-law, so from the very beginning, he never gave himself the chance to love her.

He didn’t know how things could change in an instant to something no one expected. His big brother got engaged to someone else, and in anger, Su Yaogeng married him.

At the time, he only felt it was ridiculous that the person who was supposed to become his sister-in-law turned into his wife. If it were anyone else, they probably couldn’t accept such a fact, so when Su Yaogeng told him they would not interfere with each other, he agreed.

Because at that time, besides disbelief, he also felt a sense of shame. What was this? Her beloved didn’t marry her, so she turned around and married him. Then what was he? A stand-in? Maybe not even that, just a joke!

He thought he could never forgive her, that they would remain like they originally assumed, polite to each other, not interfering.

But people have feelings, and after the initial anger passed, he tried to get close to her, tried to see if there was any possibility between them. But all he got in return was her indifference. He even childishly used various ways to test her, but she never gave him any chance from beginning to end.

Later he abandoned such thoughts, believing he would never fall in love with her.

All these years, he always believed so, but over these years, he watched her from up close, they lived under the same roof, even if they didn’t sleep in the same room, they inevitably saw each other often.

He got accustomed to this feeling, even if she was always so aloof, always cold and arrogant, always looking at him with disdain, she was still right in front of him, and now and then, he could see her.

People envied him for being such a carefree and happy Prince Consort, but over the years, be it taking concubines or having illegitimate children, he never truly felt joy. He even felt it was ironic, mocking how truly incompetent he was.

He had a group of concubines, but honestly, he couldn’t really remember what they looked like. Except occasionally when he drank and became inebriated, he wasn’t pleased to see them.

Indeed, guarding the most beautiful woman in the Capital City, what did it matter what those concubines looked like? Whether they were beautiful or not, they were not her.

As time passed, he got used to such an absurd and dull life and even felt like living it this way for a lifetime wasn’t so bad. He had nothing he particularly desired, and this would do.

But Han Si Que returned. His return shattered all the peace he believed in, shattering his naive thought that he truly didn’t care about Su Yaogeng.
