The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 160: Beginning of a small war

The time passed as everything was being prepared, honestly I don’t expect anything too grandiose from this war, the beast-men are easily one of the weakest races.

Their focus is entirely on physical battles using the terrain as an advantage, in contrast their general magical capabilities are crap.

In the end, brute force would never defeat magic, although it seems that their leader is very good at magic, which proves my point, since she became the leader of everything by defeating the other leaders and did so mainly relying on magic.

’Frostburn...’ I need to see if this is really problematic, apparently she knows how to use an element called Frostburn very well, basically a dark blue flame attack with freezing capabilities.

If the target is hit, it freezes on the outside while being burned on the touched part, receiving both freezing and fire damage.

Besides her controlling this damage, it’s possible to receive more fire damage than ice damage or more ice damage than fire damage.

It also creates thin layers of ice around the target, completely covering the target and turning it into an ice statue, although this can easily be overcome by being strong enough for the ice not to freeze you from the inside.

Right now we are in the tent waiting for the enemy army to arrive, the crystal is already positioned, as soon as it was created a barrier formed to prevent the use of mass destruction magic.

That’s why this crystal must be protected at all costs, after all, a mass destruction magic will wipe out my army.

Of course, as soon as we break the enemy’s crystal, we will be able to carry out a mass attack with a magic that focuses on pre-defined targets.

’The war is based on either eliminating everyone or destroying their crystal...’ These animals won’t surrender just because they’re dying.

”Pandora, they’ll arrive in 17 minutes, right now it’s already visible that they’ve come out of the ravine and are advancing quickly towards us, they’ve already seen us and know about us so they’ve decided on a frontal attack,” Elena tells me while receiving a telepathic message from the scouts.

’Are these animals too stupid or arrogant?’ A frontal attack when the enemy was already waiting for you is simply stupidity.

If she had retreated, we would have had a lot more problems since there was a considerable expense to position the troops here, after all the magic circle they drew for mass teleportation consumed magical ores.

”So we’ll respond with violence, we’ll show these idiotic animals that they shouldn’t have come out of the hole they were born in.”

”Activate the transmission system,” I order Elena while thinking about what kind of message to send to those animals.

...

...

...

”Chief Aokitsu, a transmission has just started,” one of my soldiers comes to inform me while I’m in the hurriedly set up tent.

I didn’t want to stop in this place, but the enemy troops are in front of us.

”A transmission, I suppose it’s from the Demon King,” I get up from the chair I’m sitting in and go outside.

Soon I see a floating magic screen, the one who appears on the screen is a girl with pale skin and long black hair, just visually she doesn’t seem to be anything special.

However, I’m not someone who looks dangerous either, so I can’t just underestimate her by her appearance.

”Good morning, beast-men, it’s a beautiful morning, isn’t it? I think it’s a perfect morning that I could be with my wife or training with my master,” she starts talking excitedly.

”However...I’m here wasting time with you stupid animals, but it’s okay, I take responsibility for this, after all, I’m someone so incredible that I end up attracting vermin like you to come near me.”

”In the end, everyone finds someone to blame, and I’m the one to blame this time,” Her disdain for us is obvious just in this beginning.

My soldiers growl at her as she insults us in this humiliating way.

”I’m making this transmission for a reason...” She gives a smile that is in a way disturbing.

”I’ll just ask one thing,” She says, taking a while for suspense, soon one of my soldiers says to the other.

”I bet she’s going to ask us to retreat or surrender, she must be just a coward who’s going to try to scare us with her title.” Some of my soldiers laugh at this.

But I don’t expect her to say that, her smile is too disturbing for someone who’s going to ask for a surrender.

I focus my attention on what she’s going to say.

”What I ask is something very simple, please scream beautifully, suffer deliciously while desperately begging for your pitiful lives, beg to die before I catch you as a toy.”

”Make it at least entertaining, for know that if I get bored, I will torture you as a form of entertainment for making me waste time.”

[If everything came from nothing, and the nothing and the everything are one, all of you to me are nothing]

’That was an enchantment...but of what magic...’ A strange and somewhat arrogant enchantment.

”With that said, I eagerly await to devour you in the war and that this be an entertaining game for me, I wish you luck, animals.” The transmission cuts off, leaving only an unsettling silence.

”Soldiers, get ready,” I order, getting everyone’s attention.

’This will be difficult...’ I never expected it to be easy, but she seems more insane than I imagined.

”We won’t be insulted by a mere irrational beast,” I say to everyone.

”Let’s show this aberration our power and make her beg for her life.” The soldiers get excited as they start grabbing everything they need.

Part of the army marches while another part stays here to defend our crystal.

I go back to the tent while my scouts bring information about the terrain, it’s a flat plain with nothing special, so we’ll be forced into a direct battle, although due to the defective terrain, we’ll have a slight advantage in basic movement.

Crack!

”Chief...” One of the soldiers gets scared when I shatter the table and quickly turn it to ash, I’m full of rage, being insulted by a mere beast that pretends to have rationality annoys me.

”Get out of here, I need time to plan.” The plan before was simple, but now that they have appeared directly, our plans have become nothing.

Soon the war begins, from here I can hear the sounds of cuts and blows along with the screams and explosion sounds made by magic.

”What’s this...” A small screen appears to me.

”A system warning?”

[You have become a direct target of the Demon King, the Demon King sees no interest in your soldiers, so she declares war directly on you, with this a racial war is formed due to the war between the two leaders.

You, the representative of all beast-men, have received a direct declaration of war from the Demon King, who is the representative of the demons, so now the war is no longer a war between two armies, but an official war between the two races.

If you lose this war, your race will be unable to continue without submitting to the Demon King, because the Demon King will not accept any form of surrender other than complete submission.

Prize for victory = Death of the Demon King. Losing the war = Complete submission to the Demon King.

Current proximity of the demon representative 2 kilometers]

”This is quite different from normal wars...but I guess it’s natural...” In normal wars, the system doesn’t interfere at all.

However, the system always intrudes in cases of one of the races facing something ”natural” in the world, like a very powerful boss or in this case the Demon King, who is a natural force in the world.

”No matter, I won’t lose...”

”CHIEF, ENEMY ATTACK FROM BEHIND!” One of the soldiers comes into my tent in a hurry.

”!!!”

”How many are there?” I don’t know how they got through so quickly and imperceptibly.

”W-We don’t know exactly, but there are more than 20,000, maybe 25,000 or even more,” He speaks without much certainty.

’It can only be teleportation...but how did she mobilize so many so quickly...’ I bite my thumb in anger.

”Send the rest of our soldiers to hold them, I’m going to enter the war directly.” As soon as I warn that I’m going to enter the war, I feel an instant threat.

[System Warning!!! The Demon King has accepted your request for direct combat in the war]

”W-Wait, that’s not what I said,” I say hurriedly to the system, since it’s a war between representatives, when I said I was going to enter the war directly, the system saw that as me calling the Demon King for a fight.

”!!” I put my arms in an X shape in front of me to protect myself while receiving an absurdly strong and fast punch, I’m pushed back, being thrown out of the tent.

”Hello, stupid bitch, I received a system notice, I must say you’re more stupid than I thought, a direct combat? Seriously? I expected you to first try a mental battle controlling troops.”

”Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha” She bursts out laughing.

”I guess I expected too much from an animal, in the end, animals are still animals.” She practically insults me in all her speeches.

”Shut up, you aberration.”

’How did she traverse the entire distance so quickly?’ I barely had time to really think of anything and she was already here.

”Chief,” Several soldiers surround the Demon King, but soon they are all torn to pieces by beings that came out of her shadows.

They look like wolves and sharks, they came out of the shadows, tore my soldiers to pieces, and went back into the shadows.

”You know, I honestly expected more,” She sits on a table while looking directly at me.

”I guess maybe you’re not the smart type?”

”I don’t want to hear that from a beast that pretends to be rational when it only knows how to live in a destructive way,” I say to her angrily at the insults, I don’t know why she has such clear disdain for my race.

”Okay, you don’t have to listen to an irrational beast like me, in the end, we’re here to kill each other, not waste time talking, right?”

”Anyway, I’ll give you some motivation to try to win, if you lose, what will happen is simple, I’ll eliminate 100% of your army and then I’ll take your people as mine.”

”They will clearly be inferior to demons, but they can still be useful, right?”

”YOU DAMN ABERRATION” I charge at her angrily as my body emits blue flames that begin to freeze the ground.
