CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1955: Chapter 1963: Easier Said Than Done

”Did you not hear Jane telling you to shut up?” Granny Carter’s voice was slightly cold, and after Jillian Carter was subdued by her gaze, she turned to Jane Sampson and said, ”You speak. No one can interrupt you until you’re finished.”

Jane Sampson looked at Jillian Carter sitting there, glaring at her begrudgingly, but her heart felt no satisfaction at all.

”She bribed the paparazzi to follow me and took photos of me and my brother. Then, she gave the paparazzi one million, letting them use those photos to operate without holding back, by any means, regardless of the consequences, to discredit me!”

Jane Sampson was so angry that she shouted, ”Jillian Carter, you did this just to stop me from returning to the Carter Family, didn’t you!”

Jane Sampson shook with anger, ”If everyone believed the scandal between me and my brother, I would lose my reputation, and for the sake of the Carter Family’s reputation, you thought they wouldn’t acknowledge me as their tainted daughter anymore?”

”To drive me away, you could do anything, use anyone. Jillian Carter, I want to ask you, do you even have a conscience?” Jane Sampson looked at Jillian Carter with a mocking smile, ”If it wasn’t for that unlucky paparazzi we caught, I wouldn’t have known the truth. I didn’t expect you to be even more shameless than I thought.”

A scandal between real siblings; in such a prestigious family as the Carter Family, Jane Sampson thought Jillian Carter believed that once the scandal broke, the Carter Family wouldn’t reveal publicly that she and James Carter were siblings.

At least, temporarily, it wouldn’t be made public in a short time.

”You’re talking nonsense!” Jillian Carter abruptly stood up, trying to defend herself, ”It wasn’t me!”

Joseph Shaw reached out and pressed Jillian Carter back down, speaking for her, ”Jillian Carter doesn’t have the position to do such things. Regardless of what outsiders might think, we know clearly in our hearts that you and your brother are real siblings. Even if today you haven’t turned this scandal around, once you finish filming and reveal your identities, this scandal will naturally become meaningless. So, even if Jillian did do such a thing, it would be pointless.”

”Easy for you to say,” Rock Bell sneered, ”During the time from now to the film premiere, a scandal like infidelity in marriage is enough to drag Jane Sampson from heaven to the mire. By the time the film premieres and identities are revealed, not only would the box office have cooled, but Jane Sampson’s popularity would be beyond recovery. This circle never lacks newcomers, especially ones like Jane who debuted just over a year ago, making it easier to fade away. Perhaps, that’s Jillian Carter’s goal.”

”But wouldn’t you stop such a situation from happening? Because, at most, you’d immediately reveal Jane Sampson’s identity to resolve the scandal, which would only impact the film temporarily. As long as it’s slightly managed afterward, the movie itself is compelling enough, and once it premieres, it will still have a big chance to recover slowly.”

Joseph Shaw lifted his eyes toward Jane Sampson and James Carter, ”Though a bit risky, the siblings’ first collaborative movie after recognizing each other is also a publicity stunt, isn’t it?”

Profit comes first, yes.

But what a director pursues is the viewing experience of the audience, not the various distractions and awkwardness caused by actors’ real-life identities.

Real siblings playing lovers on screen; who wouldn’t find it odd or awkward watching in the cinema?
