CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 250: Chapter 258: What Were You Thinking?

”Sister, Julie Sampton was let go by the show column after her last recording,” Bright Sampton suddenly brought up Julie Sampton’s matter and then reminded Jane Sampson, ”Because of this, Julie has been in a bad mood recently, and Dad has been pressuring her about the share transfer. So if she tries to provoke you these days, don’t be afraid of her.”

”Why should I be afraid of her? I’ve never been afraid of her. I just can’t be bothered to deal with her,” Jane Sampson scoffed, ”The last time we were recording that show, I ran into her, but she pretended not to know me. I could have let that go, but she did some things behind my back that were simply shameful.”

Indeed, Julie Sampton’s performance during the last show recording was less than satisfactory. The truth is, it wasn’t that Julie’s hosting skills were so terrible that, even after Father Sampton poured a lot of money into it and they recorded together, she was still let go by the show committee.

Starting from her time at the university, Julie Sampton had continuously taken up some hosting work. After graduation, she leveraged our family’s connections to secure a position at the Capital Province TV station where she hosted a show by herself. In Capital Province, Julie Sampton was quite a well-known host.

During the last recording with Mr. Humming and the others, Julie made frequent mistakes, but this was only because Jane was on stage; Julie wasn’t concentrating on her work, but on how to make Jane look foolish, and on ensuring that Jane wouldn’t overshadow her in popularity.

Someone who’s not that sharp to begin with is bound to underperform while attempting to multitask.

”Previously, she persuaded Mother to take the shares intended for you and give them to her instead. When Dad found out, he ordered Julie to transfer all the shares she has to you as compensation and an apology. Julie has been resentful about it. When I was home, I overheard her complaining to Dad several times. She said that you ignored her, that even though she was ready with the contract, you wouldn’t meet with her, hence the delay was not because she was unwilling and so on,” Bright said.

Since the last incident, Bright Sampton hardly went home, but the few times he did, he caught Julie seizing the opportunity to complain to the seniors in the house about this matter.

Bright Sampton wasn’t foolish; he could tell that Julie complained deliberately for him to hear because she was afraid that he would call her greedy in front of Dad and Mom again.

”Sister, what do you think about the share issue?” Back then, when Bright Sampton learned that Julie wanted to take your shares, he had advised you not to listen to her.

But now, Bright Sampton seemed to have changed his mind.

”She did seek me out, but she always did so with a condescending attitude as if an Empress was summoning a lowly servant. So why should I go meet her? Because I’m eager for the shares in her hands? Or because I want to see her detestable face?” Jane Sampson sneered, ”As for the shares, what do I think?”

She had absolutely no idea.

Jane Sampson thought that no matter how humble, how modest she was, it was only what Mother Sampton had given her. She accepted it, and when Mother Sampton wanted it back, she would return it without hesitation.

But she was not so humble that she would accept it if the other party decided to give and take back whenever they pleased, treating her with such disregard.

”Sister, at first I really wanted to persuade you to sign for it.” This was the true reason why Bright Sampton had volunteered to take Jane Sampson to the airport, ”But now, sister, I just want to advise you not to take it.”
