CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 217: Chapter 225: Thank You for 18 Years

Jane Sampson, who had been preoccupied with the thought of returning to filming, relaxed completely after hanging up the phone.

Well, if she had to go back, so be it. Once James Black returned to the guard team, with the mountain high and the Emperor far away, she could still go back to the small town!

Anyway, at this time, the right thing to do was to be Daddy Black’s obedient and cute little baby.

After hanging up the phone, Jane Sampson picked up her mobile phone and started scrolling through Twitter. She specifically searched online for news about William Rivers and Sophie Young and, just as Quincy Forest had said, all the roles they had signed for previously were being recast, and their endorsements were being replaced. Even advertisements that hadn’t expired were being announced by the companies as prematurely changing spokespersons.

To say the word ”ban” was not at all an exaggeration. Jane Sampson couldn’t fathom what on earth William Rivers and Sophie Young did in this life to deserve such an early and ruthless ban.

”Stop playing with your phone while eating.”

After James Black sat down, he immediately chided Jane to speak and then placed a bowl of noodles in front of her.

With an obedient ”Oh,” Jane put her phone aside and glanced at the plain noodles, muttering, ”No chili peppers?”

James Black glanced at Jane, who was without a shred of self-awareness, and mentally resigned himself to her. He wondered how she managed to look after herself without any problems over the past years.

Before, he thought Jane was quite independent; when she was in the house, he hardly had to worry about her.

But now, truly getting to know her, James Black realized that Jane was actually quite worrisome. She was the kind of person who involuntarily made people want to care about her every little detail.

”We’re staying at the grand hotel in the wine market this afternoon. After we’ve finished our meal, we’ll head over there. I’ve already had someone send your luggage ahead to the hotel,” James Black said as he turned slightly to allow the waiter to serve the dishes more conveniently. Once the waiter left, he pushed the green vegetables towards Jane while speaking. The corners of Jane’s mouth twitched.

Thanks a lot!

Thank you for eighteen years, 180 years, ten thousand years!

Damn it! She was planning on leaving her luggage in the small town so she could travel light when she returned in two days. He had to bring it back again?

The vegetables in the shop appeared bland and unappetizing at first glance, but after eating, Jane found them surprisingly delicious. The soup here was based on a rich, savory beef and lamb broth. One sip and the intense fragrance made her appetite surge.

Although James Black had a rule about not playing with his phone during meals, he didn’t have a rule against talking. Watching Jane devouring her noodles with her head down opposite him, James Black wanted to find something to say. But after thinking for a few seconds, he realized he couldn’t find a topic that might interest her and chose once again to remain silent.

After their meal, the two headed to the hotel. The hotel was a bit far from where they had their meal, so they took a taxi. James Black sat in the rear seat with his upright, dignified posture, while Jane lounged lazily against the chair back, scrolling through web pages on her phone for a while. After asking how much longer it would take to reach their destination and receiving the answer of about half an hour from James, she immediately started playing a game.

The taxi driver was charmed by the stark contrast in personality between his two customers in the backseat and cheerfully asked, ”You’re a soldier, aren’t you? Just by looking at how straight you sit, it’s obvious. I’ve driven a few guards who were just like you. They also sat up very straight in the car when they got in.”
