Chapter 208: Chapter 216: James Black, I miss you

Back to his dormitory, after taking a shower, James Black tossed and turned in the bed, suffering from insomnia for the first time ever. Every time he closed his eyes, his brain conjured up the phrase Peter Gingery had mentioned, ”Jane Sampson said the scenery there was beautiful, she wanted to live there.”

Considering Jane’s current temperament, which was much like the Monkey King’s, James began to doubt if Jane would finish filming and then suddenly inform him that she was going to volunteer teach and stay there long-term.

The more he thought about it, the more James felt that the Jane Sampson of the past would never do such a thing, but the present Jane Sampson might very well do so.

Even though it was already early morning, James still picked up his mobile phone and made a call to Jane Sampson.

In the quiet room, the mobile phone next to her suddenly rang, bringing Jane to a semi-conscious state. Before, picking up her phone would have been a quick and simple action, but due to acute high altitude disease, her reactions were slow, and it took her a few seconds to slowly reach out and answer the call.

”Hello,” Jane didn’t check the caller ID and had no idea who would call her at midnight.

”Are you in the northwest?” James, hearing something off in Jane’s voice, speculated she might have been awakened by his call, which made him regret not waiting until the next day.

Jane’s real temper wasn’t necessarily good, and she might react angrily and give up on their ugly rabbit in a huff. So when James spoke again, his tone was deliberately calmer and softer, ”Remember to come home next weekend.”

Jane swore that in her entire life, she had never found James’s voice so moving, nor had she ever missed him so much.

His voice and his words unexpectedly made a sourness swell in Jane’s chest, and the tears she had been holding back all night suddenly spilled over, unstoppable.

”James Black,” Jane bit her lip, but no matter how much she tried to disguise it, she couldn’t hide the sob in her voice, ”I’m in so much pain, I feel like I’m dying.”

Everyone has their own life, their own routine, and she didn’t dare to disturb anyone lightly, fearing they would be annoyed with her, fearing she would bother them.

In this world, there were already so few people who cherished her, and she couldn’t afford to lose a single one. She had to protect every ounce of affection she currently possessed with great care, ensuring it wasn’t destroyed by her actions.

However, feeling the deathly stillness of the room, Jane yearned for someone to talk with her, for someone to call her.

”James, I miss you.” She missed him holding her in the evening, offering his broad shoulder and embrace like a haven she greedily longed for.

At this moment, Jane thought to herself, James, from here on, I’ll never complain about you insisting on holding me in bed at night again. I miss you, very much, terribly so.

”James, if I die, you’ll become a widower in your middle age. But that might not be so bad. If I die, there’ll be no one left to deliberately annoy you.” As Jane spoke, her tears flowed more fiercely. ”James, if I die, please don’t forget me too quickly, okay? You’re my husband, and if even you forget me soon, there wouldn’t be many left in the world who remember Jane Sampson.”

In this world, there would probably be no one else who could make James experience what heartache felt like.

Listening to Jane’s crying in the phone, listening to her words that were as humble as dust, something pricked James’s heart.
