CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 209: Chapter 217: Don’t Talk Nonsense

”Feeling very uncomfortable? Is it acute high altitude disease?” James Black remembered that the small town where Jane Sampson was located was in a high altitude region. Jane Sampson had been frail since childhood. If he had known earlier that she was going to that town today, he surely would have brought her back from the film crew.

On the phone, Jane Sampson uttered a sound with a very heavy nasal tone, sounding pitiful, ”My nose is blocked, my head hurts a lot, my face feels hot, as if I’m about to have a fever, my heart feels unusually heavy, my head dull and throbbing. James Black, I’m afraid I might die.”

”Don’t talk nonsense,” the temple of James Black’s head began to throb violently. ”Did you take your medication for acute high altitude disease?”

”Hmm, but it seems to have no effect on me,” Jane Sampson sobbed softly. She didn’t want to cry, but the tears just wouldn’t stop.

It was too hard to bear, alone with unknown fears, alone with the physical pain. At this time, a person becomes even more vulnerable, even more in need of a reliable shoulder to lean on, a comforting embrace to sleep peacefully in.

”Don’t scare yourself with wild thoughts. Close your eyes and rest well. If it’s really unbearable, make a call to 120 and go to the hospital, okay?” His voice at the end of the sentence was gentle, even James himself was unaware of its softness, as if he was quietly soothing Jane.

”Okay,” Jane Sampson answered softly and then listened to the beeping of the phone as James Black hung up.

It was as if, at that moment, her heart suddenly felt much emptier.

It was as if, at that moment, she particularly wished he would never hang up, that he would keep talking to her, say many things, even if it was to scold her, to teach her, or even to make her obediently go home on the weekends.

Anything would be fine.

As long as she could hear his voice.

But Jane Sampson told herself that one must learn to be content, not to be greedy, not to be a trouble to others, not to let others find you annoying or to feel you never grow up.

You can’t be overly dependent on others; everyone has their own life, and it’s late; people need to rest.

Jane Sampson held the mobile phone in her hand, not knowing why she couldn’t bear to let it go, and she pulled the quilt over herself, burrowing into it.

The quilt was warm, but her limbs remained ice cold with even cold sweat in the palm of her hands. She tried hard to curl up her body, as if embracing herself, encouraging herself.

Jane Sampson, it’s okay, you can do this alone.

Back at the guard team area, after hanging up the phone, James Black quickly got up and dressed. Even though it was the early hours of the morning, after getting dressed, James still made a call to Harper Black.

Harper Black was Brooke Black’s brother and James Black’s uncle; he was also in the guard team, just in a different team area.

”Hello.” Since Harper was woken up in the middle of the night, his voice was obviously hoarse and deep from just having woken up.

James Black wasn’t the kind of person who would disturb others’ peaceful sleep in the middle of the night without a reason. So, for James to be calling him at this hour, Harper guessed it must be something significant.

”Uncle, I need a helicopter to North Chilton Town in the northwest, right now, the sooner the better,” James Black said urgently.

”So all of a sudden? What happened?” Harper was immediately alert and focused with the urgency in James’s voice.

”My wife is in that town, having a severe case of high altitude sickness. I’m not at ease; I must go there personally to check on her,” said James Black. ”That town doesn’t have a large hospital, and the medical standards are not up to par. I need to go there myself and bring her to the city hospital.”
