CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 235: Chapter 243: The First Group Photo

”Yeah,” James Black responded indifferently and then watched as Jane Sampson pulled out her mobile phone and started logging into the game. To her, right next to her, he might as well have been air.

James Black felt a knot of frustration in his chest, neither rising nor subsiding. He stared at Jane Sampson for a few seconds without her returning the glance. After a long time, he shifted his gaze to the window.

James Black also didn’t notice that, the moment he turned his face away, the person playing the game secretly breathed a sigh of relief and then quit the game to send a text message to Little Protein Prince.

”Do men also have a period once a month?” Jane Sampson asked Peter Gingery.

??? — Little Protein Prince.

Your brother, he seems in a particularly bad mood today. — Princess Egg-Yolk.

Did you provoke my brother again? Hearing you say that, I don’t have the courage to go back to the Black Residence for a meal at noon. — Little Protein Prince.

I’ll make it clear first, it’s not my fault. — Princess Egg-Yolk.

You’re also going back to the Black Residence for lunch? — Princess Egg-Yolk

I’ve changed my mind now, I won’t go back. I’ll immediately tell my grandfather I have something urgent and won’t return at noon. — Little Protein Prince.

Jane Sampson: ...

There’s a phrase MMP, not sure if it should be said or not.

You get back here! — Princess Egg-Yolk.

However, by the time Jane Sampson got back to the Black Residence, Peter Gingery hadn’t replied even with a punctuation mark.

Coward!

Jane Sampson cursed Peter Gingery in her heart as she watched James Black retrieving the luggage from the trunk. Such a coward, contemptible!

When Jane Sampson was almost at the Black Residence, she had already informed Old Master Black on WhatsApp, so he was waiting in the courtyard for the two of them. As soon as Jane got out of the car, the Great General sprinted toward her, hopping around Jane excitedly, wagging his tail non-stop, barking at her.

”Good boy,” Jane said as she patted the head of the Great General, who then stopped jumping but still followed Jane step by step into the house.

”How is your body? Hearing from James Black that he went to the small town to pick you up yesterday morning, we were all terrified,” Brooke Black looked at Jane Sampson, sizing her up. ”Your complexion looks fine; you should be okay now.”

”I’m fine, sorry to make auntie and grandfather worried about me,” Jane Sampson felt a bit apologetic; she hadn’t meant to make these seniors worry about her, but the timing of James Black’s call had been too coincidental.

At her most vulnerable and saddest, his call made her burst into tears and involuntarily reveal her frailty.

”I saw on your Moments that you went to Tooth Spring to play yesterday afternoon?” Old Sir cheerfully waved his phone at Jane Sampson. ”I looked at the photos you took; they look nice. You look good, and so does the scenery. Even James Black looks good. You and your husband, it’s the first time you had a photo together, right?”

Yesterday afternoon, Jane Sampson excitedly dragged James Black into taking many photos, but they were mostly close-up selfies of the two of them, and later, when James Black returned the motorbike, he had his teammates help them take some full-body photos. However, the photos were still with James Black, and Jane Sampson had not yet seen them.

Feeling awkward, Jane Sampson glanced at James Black to see that he was also looking at her. Thinking of the inexplicable Cold War and the morning’s quarrel, Jane thought that for the sake of the photos, she might as well be the first to soften.

”James,” Jane Sampson walked towards James Black and reached out, ”hand me your phone, I want to see our group photo from yesterday afternoon.”

James Black said nothing and simply handed over the phone.
