I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 212: Chapter 211: Then Just Go Die

Ever since meeting Beisitian yesterday, Zhang Lianqiao thought of a better plan. Luo Xudong had been away for too long, and she had changed significantly. It’s normal that he doesn’t remember her. But whether or not Luo Xudong remembers her, she doesn’t intend to give up on him easily.

Especially with Huo Laosan waiting in the wings, Luo Xudong seemed all the more precious!

No matter what, Zhang Lianqiao would never marry Huo Laosan; she’d rather die!

Zhang Lianqiao took out a small pouch that she bought at the market. It wasn’t expensive, but it was beautiful. For a while, it was trendy for many girls to carry a pouch with them.

She gently rubbed the pouch twice and took out a navy blue stone with white patterns—it was a very beautiful stone, its surface worn smooth and round by her touch.

A hole had been drilled in this blue-and-white stone, with a red cord threaded through it, so it could be worn around the neck. However, the stone was about the size of a baby’s fist, making it a bit heavy to wear. She stopped wearing it after two days.

This stone was extremely beautiful, a gift from Luo Xudong, and it came with a promise!

Thinking of this promise made Zhang Lianqiao blush. When Luo Xudong saw this stone, he would certainly remember!

Zhang Lianqiao changed into her usual clothes—not to wait for Luo Xudong this time but for Beisitian.

She planned to tell Beisitian about the wonderful past she had with Luo Xudong, hoping she would step aside. After all, Beisitian was already so capable and certainly wouldn’t lack for men!

Seeing Beisitian and Luo Xudong together so frequently recently felt like a knife to her heart. Yet, Beisitian didn’t seem to consider that she and Luo Xudong had never held a wedding ceremony nor received a marriage certificate. Why did she have such confidence to cling to Luo Xudong?

Beisitian probably had the backing of Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo. After all, they picked her as a match, and even though there was no evidence about the incident with things thrown at the foundation, surely Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo had a very poor impression of her. These matters could only be gradually changed after she entered their home.

Zhang Lianqiao knew Beisitian often went to North Slope, so she wandered around there. By a stroke of luck, she saw Beisitian approaching with that big wolfdog not long after she arrived.

Zhang Lianqiao harbored no goodwill towards the wolfdog that almost tore off a piece of her flesh, feeling a sort of deep-seated fear.

Zhuangzhuang noticed Zhang Lianqiao early on, snorting and growling at her, seemingly remembering the blunder of letting her get away that day.

”L-Little Tian’er, I have something to say to you. Could you let the dog move a bit further away?” Zhang Lianqiao showed signs of fear.

Gently patting Zhuangzhuang’s head, Beisitian signaled him to move away. Zhuangzhuang snorted dismissively, then turned and walked off.

Zhang Lianqiao watched as Zhuangzhuang stopped a hundred meters away, squatting and staring at her, its eyes eerie and unsettling.

”Say what you have to say.”

As soon as Beisitian finished speaking, she saw Zhang Lianqiao slowly kneel on the ground, tears brimming in her eyes, leaving Beisitian momentarily stunned. What was she doing?

”Little Tian’er, please let me be with Brother Xudong!”

Beisitian’s expression turned slightly cold, ”What?”

Zhang Lianqiao inherently appeared fragile, like a delicate flower, beautiful yet frail.

”Long before he joined the army, Brother Xudong and I were already... already... So please, grant us your blessing. Uncle Luo and Aunt Luo don’t know about this, so they arranged a match for Brother Xudong.” Zhang Lianqiao spoke half-truths, giving the impression that the two had already developed something substantial.

Beisitian’s face darkened. Though she knew better than to take Zhang Lianqiao’s words at face value, she still felt a heaviness in her heart, a bitter anger bubbling up.

”Even setting aside whether I should believe your one-sided word, have you informed Luo Xudong that you’re begging me like this?” Beisitian’s voice took on a slightly cold tone.

No matter what tricks Zhang Lianqiao had tried before, she never looked down on her. But this act of kneeling made her lose all respect for her!

Zhang Lianqiao swayed slightly, her face paling as she wore a look that said she was willing to do anything for Luo Xudong, lamenting, ”I have no choice. If Brother Xudong hadn’t returned, I probably wouldn’t have planned to marry in this lifetime. Heaven had pity on me, letting Brother Xudong return, letting him come back to fulfill the promise he made!”

Beisitian watched as she took out a crudely-made pouch from her pocket, embraced it, and sobbed softly a few times before lifting her head, her face showing steadfast determination to sacrifice everything for love, ”Little Tian’er, as long as you allow me to be with Brother Xudong, I’ll do whatever you ask!”

”Brother Xudong is a filial person. Over the years he’s been gone, Uncle Luo and Aunt Luo have suffered a lot. If your affair with Brother Xudong is something Uncle Luo and Aunt Luo want, he would not go against their wishes for his own desires. Only I understand how much he’s suffered in his heart~”

”Yes, quite a bit of suffering has been from your family’s doing,” Beisitian said calmly.

Zhang Lianqiao froze, unable to retort, feeling bitterly that despite her pitiful pleas, there was no trace of compassion—what a heart of stone!

”Are you saying that I agree to fulfill your wish but can’t inform Luo Xudong?” Beisitian smiled mockingly.

Zhang Lianqiao remained silent, but that’s exactly what she meant!

Looking at her, Beisitian understood everything. Even if she hadn’t just clarified her feelings, she certainly wouldn’t agree to such a ridiculous request based on one plea.

”What if I refuse?” Beisitian retorted.

Zhang Lianqiao’s tears instantly spilled over, ”Can you really bear to see us missing our destined marriage? Little Tian’er, you’re capable and can have any man you want, but I’m different. I’ve been holding on to Brother Xudong’s promise all this time... finally seeing hope... If I lose Brother Xudong, I won’t survive!”

Beisitian raised an eyebrow, was this a threat to die?

Was Zhang Lianqiao’s brain damaged? For a relationship that couldn’t even be described as amicable, including the incident where malicious items were thrown into the foundation, where did she get the courage to think others would care about her life and death?!

Beisitian couldn’t understand; some people were never meant to be part of her world—or perhaps the world of most.

”So you mean, if I don’t agree, you won’t survive?”

Zhang Lianqiao choked up, crying like a weeping beauty, a sight that would evoke sympathy from anyone, except, in this case, Beisitian.

”Then go ahead and die!” Beisitian said with amusement. She had never thought someone could be so ridiculous—truly, there’s no end to the world’s wonders.
