I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 446: Chapter 445: Not Normal

Zhao Yilun looked at Beisitian and saw her kneeling on the ground with her hands behind her back, her small face tense. Obviously, she was the beautiful type, yet at this moment she seemed somewhat adorably foolish.

Zhao Yilun raised an eyebrow. This woman, delicate and pretty to look at, had a dainty figure for a man’s taste, but her strength was not small — she had pushed him away in one go. It was the first time he had encountered a woman who would push him away!

”I was just trying to help you!” Zhao Yilun wasn’t the type of man to explain his actions, yet this time he didn’t know why he just wanted to say something to this woman, to make her understand what she did to someone trying to help her.

Beisitian looked at Zhao Yilun with a blank face, pursed her lips, and squeezed out three words, ”I’m sorry...”

Zhao Yilun’s eyebrows twitched, and his mouth involuntarily curled into a smile. Seeing her expression, he didn’t know why he felt like laughing...

She apologized directly, leaving Zhao Yilun nothing else to say. He stood up and was about to extend his hand to pull her up, but then he saw her stand up following suit.

Zhao Yilun raised an eyebrow. He just had the illusion that this woman stood up quickly to avoid him extending his hand.

”Which department are you a doctor in?” Zhao Yilun asked.

”The Traditional Chinese Medicine Department.” Beisitian had already regained her usual composure. The pain on her bottom, though not completely gone, was now within bearable limits.

”Traditional Chinese Medicine Department... Why are you here?” Zhao Yilun raised an eyebrow, wondering if she had bumped into him on purpose. Then he recalled being forcefully pushed away by those small hands and immediately dismissed the thought.

Beisitian remained silent. Although Zhao Yilun had good intentions earlier, she had pushed him away unreasonably, but there was no need to tell him everything.

”Are you okay?” Beisitian asked.

Zhao Yilun looked down at her and said, ”For now, I’m fine.”

...What do you mean, for now, you’re fine?

Beisitian looked at him for two seconds and said, ”Since you’re fine, I’ll be going now.”

Zhao Yilun nodded, watching her decisively turn and leave, his gaze following her back until she entered Zheng Qiwai’s consultation room.

Zhao Yilun retracted his gaze and turned to leave.

Beisitian entered Zheng Qiwai’s consultation room. There was no one inside; Zheng Qiwai was sitting at the desk writing something. Hearing the noise, he looked up, saw her, and said lightly, ”You’re here,” before burying himself back into his writing.

Half of Beisitian’s heart lowered in relief. This time, it seemed relatively normal; she hoped to learn something useful.

”Have a seat.” Zheng Qiwai glanced up at her, his gaze calm, no longer looking as though he didn’t recognize her like the first time.

Beisitian sat opposite him, ”Is there anything I can help with?”

She came to assist Zheng Qiwai; just sitting around wasn’t her style.

Zheng Qiwai pushed a cardboard box over and said, ”Classify the cases in here.”

”According to what classification?”

”Anything goes.”

”...”

Beisitian watched Zheng Qiwai seriously writing and wondered if he was doing it deliberately. I mean, if you want them categorized, why say ’anything goes’?

Beisitian picked up the case files and noticed that some weren’t from the 232 Military District Hospital. It seemed Zheng Qiwai was usually very busy, and even if there wasn’t anyone here for half a day, he wasn’t idle.

She picked up a few cases to look at. Each case had an accompanying report that Zheng Qiwai had added, containing his understanding and views on the patient, along with what he considered the best treatment.

After reading a few cases, Beisitian couldn’t help but feel astonished. She had previously thought that Zheng Qiwai reached his position based on his own abilities, and she was rather skeptical. Now it seemed he did have skills, not being strictly bound by traditional Chinese medicine practices and adopting many innovative treatment methods.

These innovations, in Beisitian’s view, were greatly beneficial in updating traditional Chinese medicine for adaptation to society.

In the end, Beisitian categorized the cases into ’regulative’ and ’treatment’ types. There were over a dozen cases, and reviewing them all took more than an hour. After sorting, no patients had come.

”Is there any other work to be done?” Beisitian asked.

Zheng Qiwai looked up at her, ”Do you have something to do?”

”No.”

”Hmm.”

What on earth does ’hmm’ mean?

Beisitian frowned, seeing that Zheng Qiwai was barely normal now, she thought it best to directly ask.

”Do I look very much like someone you know? Who is that person?” Beisitian asked.

Zheng Qiwai’s hand paused with the pen, and he suddenly looked up, eyes flashing with a hint of anger as he said in a deep voice, ”Do you think this is funny?”

Beisitian took a deep breath and said, word by word, ”Who is that person, what’s their name?”

Zheng Qiwai stared at Beisitian with a hard gaze, slamming the pen on the table. He pressed his arms on the table, bending down to lean closer as he said in a deep voice, ”You’re always this untrustworthy. I advise you not to play these tricks; I’m not stupid!”

I think you are stupid!

Beisitian was so angry her eyelids twitched. She had never met such a person before, completely impossible to have a normal conversation with!

That feeling of being misunderstood without a way to explain, Beisitian found it quite frustrating, with a lump stuck in her chest, unable to move up or down, feeling very uncomfortable.

She really didn’t know how to start. Facing someone so persistently fixated on one thing, whatever you say is useless.

Additionally, Beisitian found it quite intriguing. If last time, Zheng Qiwai hadn’t clearly seen her in the dim backstage, now the reason didn’t hold as the room was well-lit, and they were close to each other.

Just how much did she resemble that person!

Beisitian’s curiosity clawed at her like a cat, an itch she couldn’t scratch away. She desperately wanted to reach in and grab it out.

Despite her strong desire to know the answer, the person before her was entirely uncooperative, convinced that she was that person, leaving her with no options.

Beisitian suppressed her impatience, sitting silently to the side, without saying another word.

Zheng Qiwai saw this and sat back in his chair, seemingly unsettled with anger, his face clouded.

Beisitian also held a stern face, knowing today’s conversation wouldn’t continue, so she considered leaving. At that moment, there was a knock outside, and then a man came in, in his forties, who was one of today’s patients.

”Professor Zheng, I’ve finally caught up with you!” The man said cheerfully to Zheng Qiwai, sitting at the side of the desk, making it easier for the doctor to examine him.

Facing the patient, Zheng Qiwai’s expression finally relaxed quite a bit. Although he wasn’t overly friendly, he appeared much more agreeable.

Zheng Qiwai took the patient very seriously. Moreover, Beisitian had to admit, his skill was indeed high. Without needing to feel the pulse, he immediately saw that this man’s kidney meridians were blocked. After asking a few questions, it turned out the man indeed had cold limbs, chills, and lower back pain, symptoms of kidney yang deficiency.

”Take this back, steep it in room temperature water, and drink continuously for three days. It will relieve your symptoms,” Zheng Qiwai said, pushing three small medicine packets to the man. He opened one packet, revealing the yellow powder inside, giving Beisitian a casual glance.
