I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 407: Chapter 406

After Beisitian returned to the small courtyard, she found that there was an extra person at home, it was the one who pretended to be mysterious, Zheng Lulu.

Zheng Lulu had come to say goodbye to her.

”The New Year is over, I should head back too. My home is in Jin City, if there’s a chance I’ll come back to find you later,” Zheng Lulu said.

During this period, Zheng Lulu would occasionally come over to Beisitian’s place as a guest.

”What are you coming to find me for, to scare me?” Beisitian teased.

Zheng Lulu scratched her cheek with her slender fingers, embarrassed, ”Don’t laugh at me, this whole thing is almost becoming my black history.”

”I’m leaving too, going back to Anding City,” Beisitian said.

”Anding City?” Zheng Lulu was delighted, ”Then we won’t be too far apart.”

Indeed, it’s not far, Anding City is only two hours’ drive from Jin City.

”By the way, Sister Sitian, I know you’re studying Chinese medicine, take a look here if there’s anything you can use, if not, I’ll just throw it away.”

Zheng Lulu brought over a small box next to the table. This small box looked a bit aged, very rustic and old.

”This was my treasure box from childhood, all the treasures and memories from my childhood are stored inside,” Zheng Lulu said with a smile, ”I unearthed this before you moved in, hidden in a very secret place, with so many owners changing in this house, no one has ever found it.”

Beisitian looked at the pride on her face and shook her head with a laugh.

”Because our family used to be a Chinese medicine family, though it later turned out this way, there were some old prescriptions that I won from my grandpa through bets. Unfortunately, I have no talent in medicine.”

If the big brother were still around, these things might have been useful for him.

Zheng Lulu thought of the big brother who disappeared without a trace, sighed inwardly, wondering if there would be hope to meet him again in this lifetime.

She opened the small box and flipped it onto the table, all the items were dumped onto the table, leaving Beisitian speechless.

”Aren’t these your treasures? How can you treat your treasures so roughly!” Beisitian raised an eyebrow and said.

Zheng Lulu laughed heartily, ”Picking them out one by one is too much trouble, and what kind of real treasures can a child’s treasures be anyway.”

Beisitian looked over, inside was an old little purse, containing a few silver needles that had turned black, and some brushes, the brushes were rather short, seemingly meant for children, besides that, there were indeed some aged prescriptions.

Coming from a family of Chinese medicine, Beisitian couldn’t help but chuckle, even children’s treasures were inseparable from Chinese medicine.

”These prescriptions I won from my grandpa, unfortunately, I couldn’t understand them, even after two years of studying, I can barely understand some of them, but with Western medicine’s quick injections and pills nowadays, I’ve never had to use these.”

Zheng Lulu stuck her tongue out, ”If my grandpa heard this, he would definitely glare at me.”

Beisitian picked up a yellow prescription, it recorded a treatment for bronchitis, but consuming it would only provide temporary relief, with no way to eradicate it completely.

Beisitian looked at a couple more prescriptions, all were similar, some resembling folk remedies, ”Keeping these things is a form of remembrance, why would you want to throw them away?”

Zheng Lulu sighed, my family went through such upheaval, now no one in the family speaks of Chinese medicine, even when seeing a doctor, we never go to a Chinese hospital, afraid it would remind us of unhappy things.

These unhappy things, once remembered, would affect our mood for several days.

Beisitian didn’t say much, holding some prescriptions casually, she unfurled a very aged yellow paper, discovering a strange diagram on it, and couldn’t help but ask, ”What is this?”

Zheng Lulu took it, had a look, and shook her head, ”I don’t know what it is either. At first, I asked grandpa for it, but he absolutely wouldn’t give it to me. Later on, on the eve of the family upheaval, I played a game with grandpa and he lost, so he gave this to me. I was quite proud for a long time then, but I don’t understand this at all, and there are quite a few of these.”

Zheng Lulu pulled out a few pieces and placed them in front of Beisitian.

Beisitian picked them up and looked at them one by one, her expression growing more serious, upon closer inspection, these things actually resembled characters drawn on talisman paper!

Drawing symbols on talisman paper is a step in the process of creating a Spiritual Talisman, these symbols represent medicinal properties, different symbols create different Xuan Talismans, coupled with corresponding herbs.

Someone who doesn’t understand naturally can’t understand them, though there are many strange things outside, among these she recognized a few Xuan Talisman symbols!

Zheng Lulu actually has these things, what are they?

Although Beisitian couldn’t discern it immediately, she could guess, Zheng Lulu’s family must be connected to Mystic Doctors, but it’s a pity she herself doesn’t know, and she has no way to ask.

”Sister Sitian, if you find them useful, take them, these things were given to me by grandpa before the Zheng Family’s upheaval, back then I didn’t understand, now thinking back, grandpa must’ve known the family was going to undergo changes and that’s why he placed these things with a child, to avoid suspicion, so I think these things aren’t completely useless.”

Not just not useless...

Beisitian was puzzled, ”Since you are aware, why not keep them?”

Zheng Lulu smiled helplessly, ”My father has sworn off practicing medicine, my mother was never into Chinese medicine, and I’m not cut out for it, keeping this serves nothing but to increase worries when seen or thought of, it’s better to give it to Sister Sitian, if you don’t want it, then I’ll just burn it.”

Beisitian nodded, ”I’m curious about what this is, I’ll hold onto it for now, if you want it, you can come back and get it anytime.”

Zheng Lulu smiled without a word, if she really wanted it, she wouldn’t have given it to Beisitian, keeping it wouldn’t be of any use.

The next morning, Zheng Lulu left, Beisitian left half an hour later than her, just like when she arrived, with Tian Lei and Tian Qiu seeing her off, now with the addition of Weng Yong’an by the side.

Just before entering the station, Beisitian said with a smile, ”Brother-in-law, the medicine should be taken for at least half a year, during this period, no smoking or drinking, or it will all be for nothing.”

Weng Yong’an nodded, indicating he understood, although he’s taken over Ma Tianlai’s business, requiring frequent social engagements, for Tian Qiu, he will abstain from any alcohol.

Tian Lei was a bit sullen, ”Why isn’t Beibei leaving with me?” He would be returning to Anding City in a few days too, but Beisitian wouldn’t wait for him.

Tian Qiu rolled her eyes at him, ”Why should she wait for you; she should hurry back to her husband’s embrace.”

Beisitian shot her a glance, cheeks slightly red, to be honest, she did miss Luo Xudong a little.

Although they talk on the phone every day, it’s not the same as seeing him in person.

”Alright, you head off, call us when you get there.” Tian Qiu said.

Tian Qiu and the others temporarily lived in Beisitian’s small courtyard, as Beisitian didn’t want it to be left empty, and the couple hadn’t settled on a place yet.
