I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 442: Chapter 441: Here We Go Again

Beisitian observed over the past two days and found that Luo Xinfang and a fifty-something old Chinese doctor named Qin Fengwang were the most skilled here, with very minimal errors. Their prescriptions were quite unique, and they didn’t prescribe Chinese patent medicines often unless requested by the patients. Clearly, they had high standards for decoction.

Qin Fengwang resembled an old scholar, wearing reading glasses that hung on the tip of his nose. His expression was calm, often smiling, and he was the oldest and most esteemed person in the traditional Chinese medicine department.

Besides, there was someone named Liu Jing, in her forties, with tightly tied hair that seemed to make her scalp constantly tense. Others felt a headache just looking at her, and she rarely smiled, preferring to look at people with her head lowered. Her eyes rolled upward, giving a sharp impression.

Judging by age, Beisitian was indeed the youngest, not only in this traditional Chinese medicine department but arguably in the entire field of traditional Chinese medicine.

At her age, many were still interning.

”Xiao Bei, have you ever seen patients independently?” Liu Jing asked, looking up with her head down, her eyes rolling upward, revealing a lot of white beneath.

This way of looking at someone was very uncomfortable, but Beisitian just arrived here, so she couldn’t show any reaction over someone else’s gesture.

”I have,” Beisitian answered.

Liu Jing lowered her eyelids, ”You’re quite skilled. When patients come, you can take a look.”

Zhou Wenwen glanced at Liu Jing, then at Beisitian, noticing there was no sign of displeasure on her face. Then she looked at Luo Xinfang.

Luo Xinfang shook her head slightly, a look of disapproval on her face.

Zhou Wenwen said nothing. Liu Jing liked to make things difficult for people, especially young ones. When Zhou first arrived, Liu Jing gave her a hard time too, making her cry several times. Eventually, Sister Luo couldn’t stand it and spoke to her a few times. Although Liu Jing remained disdainful on the surface, she stopped making things difficult for Zhou later.

Although she stopped troubling Zhou Wenwen, she was still unfriendly towards her, often sending her to do chores. It took more than a year for the situation to slightly improve.

Now that Beisitian arrived, being even younger, she undoubtedly would be questioned more, starting right now. But Zhou Wenwen, having been the youngest and least experienced here, dared not speak up for Beisitian.

Sister Luo was also not someone who would abruptly take a stand; she didn’t meddle in every trivial matter. However, Beisitian happened to know her niece and had worked with her before. If Liu Jing went too far, Zhou Wenwen figured Sister Luo wouldn’t just stand by.

Sister Luo didn’t talk much, but she was genuinely kind. Zhou Wenwen respected Qin Fengwang the most and had the greatest affection for Luo Xinfang.

Zhou Wenwen came by to chat since there were no patients, while Beisitian was familiarizing herself with the environment. All the women in the department were in the consultation room now.

Zhou Wenwen wanted to warn Beisitian but didn’t know her well enough, and suddenly speaking up felt like overstepping. Besides, she didn’t know what kind of person Beisitian was—what if she turned out even more difficult than Liu Jing!

Zhou Wenwen thought about it and fell silent.

Soon, a woman in her fifties came over. Seeing a doctor in the traditional Chinese medicine department was straightforward—register, pay, and you’d be seen right away.

Seeing the person, Liu Jing said to Zhou Wenwen, ”Bring her in. Let Xiao Bei take a look.”

Zhou Wenwen pursed her lips, unwilling to go but fearing Liu Jing’s long standing, she had no choice but to comply.

Recognizing the visitor, Zhou Wenwen knew Beisitian was in trouble. This was an old patient who had been conditioning her body with little success; only treatments from Master Qin had shown results, and she had been consulting Qin Fengwang since then.

Today, with Qin Fengwang absent, why did she come?

”Aunt Jiang, you’re here. Please come over this way.” Zhou Wenwen felt like a pimp.

Jiang Yanmei paused, glanced at the consultation room, noticed Luo Xinfang was there too, smiled, and walked over.

Upon entering, she was about to sit by Luo Xinfang’s desk when the doctor named Liu said, ”Sit here. We have a new doctor, a military doctor, with quite a high skill level. Let her take a look at you.”

Luo Xinfang frowned; Liu Jing was starting indeed.

Zhou Wenwen felt like returning to her consultation room but also felt curious about how things would unfold, so she reluctantly stayed, pretending to pour water for the two people.

Beisitian heard Liu Jing’s words, lifted her eyes to look at her. Liu Jing raised her up like this, definitely not out of goodwill.

Jiang Yanmei looked at Beisitian, deeply hesitant. This young lady looked like a nurse, not a doctor. However, Doctor Liu was a senior here; it was not appropriate to directly challenge her. She glanced at Luo Xinfang, thinking with Doctor Luo there, any issues would definitely be pointed out. Moreover, if things felt wrong, she could ask for someone else!

There was no concept of complaints now; patients pleaded with doctors. Unless absolutely necessary, who would dare make a fuss? If the doctor was a little bit ill-intentioned and delayed the treatment, where would you find justice then!

Jiang Yanmei sat beside Beisitian, placing her hand on the cushion, and politely said, ”Sorry to trouble the young doctor.”

Beisitian was analyzing her face when she saw the outstretched hand and proceeded to feel her pulse. Just by observing her face, she mostly figured out her issues, and the pulse confirmed it.

Jiang Yanmei’s issue wasn’t grave, but it was troublesome. It was due to menopause causing endocrine disorders, excessive heart and liver fire, slight neurasthenia, leading to severely impaired sleep quality and serious constipation.

Jiang Yanmei came this time hoping to get something to smooth her bowels, like an enema. She hadn’t had a bowel movement for five days, fidgeting uncomfortably. Sometimes she felt palpitations!

The medicine should actually be prescribed at the Western medicine side, but it was crowded there. She was also familiar with the traditional Chinese medicine doctors here, so she came, hoping for a quick solution before she felt something terrible would happen.

”Doctor, can you prescribe some enemas? I haven’t had a bowel movement in five days.” Jiang Yanmei said, rubbing her belly, feeling like there was a big lump inside, believing if she kneaded it away, it would be all right.

”I’ll prescribe you some medicine to release the bowel first,” Beisitian said.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yanmei’s face fell instantly and replied, ”Just give me enemas. I really don’t have time to take medicine; I’m dying of discomfort!”

Feared it couldn’t come out, Jiang Yanmei was on the verge of tears.

Understanding her mistake, Beisitian smiled and replied, ”I’ll make the medicine for you, and you can drink it here, then go to the restroom at the back. It will hurt a bit initially.”

Hearing this, Jiang Yanmei was instantly delighted. As long as it came out, it was fine. The stool was already hard, and pain at the start was expected!

Beside them, Liu Jing frowned and said, ”Just prescribe the enemas first. Who knows when you’ll finish making the medicine!”
