I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 443: Chapter 442: It Worked

Upon hearing Liu Jing’s words, Jiang Yanmei nodded repeatedly; at this point, she didn’t care about any dependency issues. She just hoped to get rid of this block immediately as she was nearly at her breaking point!

Beisitian glanced at Liu Jing, ”Would you like to give it a try?”

Liu Jing’s face darkened, and she pursed her lips without speaking, her expression somewhat displeased.

Beisitian didn’t really want to provoke her since she just arrived, but she disliked having others interfere when she was diagnosing. If you think you can do it, then step up!

Since Liu Jing stopped talking, she naturally wouldn’t be aggressive either and continued focusing on Jiang Yanmei’s situation.

The body feels significant discomfort after five days without bowel movement. In this case, it’s not suitable for long-term treatment; just like Jiang Yanmei wanted, it’s better to first resolve this instance.

Beisitian prescribed a little White Atractylodes Powder and some raw licorice, not much, and handed it to Jiang Yanmei to get the medicine and bring it back.

Jiang Yanmei felt quite helpless inside. She actually just wanted a suppository, but this young doctor insisted on prescribing Chinese medicine. Could it really help her relieve quickly?

With no other options, Jiang Yanmei had to go get the medicine since Doctor Luo didn’t say anything; she might as well consider it effective.

In the Chinese medicine department, she trusted Qin Fengwang and Luo Xinfang but couldn’t offend others.

Seeing Jiang Yanmei leave, Liu Jing pursed her lips and gave Beisitian a look, ”You told her she’ll relieve soon, but these herbs, although they treat constipation, aren’t fast-acting. Don’t ruin the reputation of the Chinese medicine department.”

”Is there even a reputation to ruin?” Beisitian replied casually.

There was a sudden snicker, Zhou Wenwen couldn’t hold back any longer. It seemed that this Doctor Xiao Bei, although calm and serene, had quite the sharp tongue. At first, ignoring Liu Jing, now it seemed she couldn’t hold back and retaliated quite enjoyably. Liu Jing’s face turned as black as a pot.

It’s true; while the Chinese medicine department wasn’t deserted, rarely ever did more than twenty people visit a day. It’s really quite something that this department managed to have six doctors. It persisted mainly due to Qin Fengwang, Luo Xinfang, and the patients brought by an external Chinese medicine practitioner.

Most came because of these three.

So there really isn’t a reputation to ruin, and there was never really any reputation to begin with.

Liu Jing was so upset by Beisitian’s casual remark that she couldn’t speak. How dare a newcomer talk to her like that!

Her mood was gloomy, and she looked at Beisitian with a chilling gaze; she was waiting to see how she would treat Jiang Yanmei, who was notoriously difficult to manage. Even Qin Fengwang took a long time to achieve slight results, but the issue kept recurring.

The Chinese medicine department had several ”hard cases,” and Jiang Yanmei was just one, though relatively better, since Qin Fengwang’s treatment showed some results, hence her polite attitude towards the doctors.

But some were different, at least more than two other hard cases blamed the department for delaying their treatment and were still in conflict!

Zhou Wenwen’s chuckle drew a cold glance from Liu Jing, and she quickly turned her head to look at the medical records in her hand, even though they weren’t hers.

She wanted to remind Beisitian, but seeing her sit calmly without any awareness of the trouble she was about to face, Zhou couldn’t help but sigh and glanced at Luo Xinfang.

Luo Xinfang looked helpless; if Liu Jing were purely bullying Beisitian, she’d have something to say. But since Beisitian didn’t seem to be bullied and appeared confident, she couldn’t intervene.

The location was close to the surgery building, and anything involving Chinese medicine rarely required queuing, so Jiang Yanmei returned with two small packages within minutes.

Jiang Yanmei looked unwell, her stomach aching from the strain, not wanting to run around anymore.

Beisitian looked at what Jiang Yanmei brought; indeed, it was White Atractylodes Powder, evenly powdered, raw licorice ready to use, no time to brew.

Beisitian took the medicine package and left; while others didn’t know what she was doing, she returned shortly.

She handed a small paper package to Jiang Yanmei and said, ”Here’s a disposable glove; mix a bit with clear water into a paste, insert deep, and apply some outside to protect skin tissue from damage.”

Beisitian briefly explained, and Jiang Yanmei, with her chronic constipation though rarely as severe, understood her words.

Jiang Yanmei glanced at Luo Xinfang, seeing her curious expression, and her heart skipped a beat—was she being experimented on?

Seeing Jiang Yanmei’s hesitant face, Beisitian said, ”This works better than a suppository.”

Jiang Yanmei looked at Beisitian, noticing her confidence, her hesitation decreased greatly. As long as it helped, she thought, and left with the package.

Luo Xinfang was curious about what Beisitian was holding; it looked like white medicine powder, but raw licorice couldn’t be powdered easily, and the amount didn’t resemble a mix of two herbs.

”Doctor Xiao Bei, about the medicine powder just now...” Zhou Wenwen, although in her thirties, lacked Luo Xinfang’s sophistication and asked out of curiosity, seeing no harm in it.

Beisitian smiled slightly, ”I improved it a bit.”

As for how, she naturally wouldn’t divulge.

Liu Jing chuckled with some sarcasm, ”Doctor Xiao Bei is impressive to modify medicine like this; even Master Qin didn’t have such skills. I only heard of him modifying formulas, but never saw something like this before.”

Beisitian laughed, ”Sister Liu, no need for such courtesy. Next time you bring it up, you won’t have to say you’ve never seen it.”

Zhou Wenwen’s face instantly scrunched, wanting to laugh—what should she do? She suddenly found Beisitian very likable. Her words made the face red and neck swell—how refreshing.

In her first year, Zhou Wenwen was often irritated by Liu Jing, targeting newcomers with some xenophobic mentality. Though a newbie, how could she dare confront a veteran of over ten years? Better to endure quietly, so now she felt particularly pleased!

Liu Jing’s gaze turned cold, ”Let’s see if your improved medicine works first.”

Wait and see how you’ll clean up; a newcomer not behaving modestly dared act so arrogantly!

As soon as she finished, they saw Jiang Yanmei stride back in, her expression relaxed as if relieved from a heavy burden, carrying a light and easygoing air.

Seeing Jiang Yanmei like this, it was clear the medicine had worked before she even spoke.
