I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 420: Chapter 419

”It’s not that I can’t make medicine,” Beisitian said softly.

The talisman paper and brush are just aids; Beisitian can create a Spiritual Talisman, relying mainly on her spirit. As long as she can draw the symbols, she can form a Spiritual Talisman using her spirit as the medium. However, this method consumes two to three times the usual amount of spirit, so no one resorts to such a laborious task unless necessary.

But if she makes the Spiritual Talisman here, Wei Zhongxun will inevitably see it. This thing is very secretive; only a few close people or those in a master-disciple relationship can know about it.

This was where Beisitian hesitated.

However, she was not inflexible. When life was under great threat, she could only set aside such rules, as preserving life was most important.

Beisitian still felt a trace of struggle in her heart when a weak voice came from the pitch-black corner.

”Cousin...is that you?”

It was Tian Zhi!

Beisitian suddenly turned to look; there was nothing to see in that corner except the faint yellow light through the small window.

”Xiao Zhi?”

”It’s me...” Tian Zhi’s voice trembled, clearly terrified. Having never experienced such a thing before, he truly felt shaken.

Beisitian reached out her hand slightly; the darkness ahead stopped her from taking a step forward, ”Xiao Zhi, why don’t you come over?”

Seeing someone familiar, Tian Zhi seemed much calmer, and spoke more naturally, ”I’m tied up, cousin. I’m right at your right-hand side, but I’m chained, and you can’t unlock it without the key!”

Wei Zhongxun lightly patted Beisitian on the shoulder and said, ”I’ll go take a look.”

Being a man, he was inherently stronger than Beisitian. If anything happened, he could handle it. Since it was completely dark over there, they had to be cautious.

Without even a match on him to light the way, Wei Zhongxun could only feel around as he walked over. Soon, he touched a cold iron chain, followed by a slightly trembling body.

After feeling around, Wei Zhongxun discovered that Tian Zhi was tied to a chair welded to the ground, bound with ropes, making it impossible for him to escape.

A hint of doubt flashed in his heart. Were they really looking for a successor? Why treat a successor like this?

”He’s indeed chained,” Wei Zhongxun said.

Beisitian reached over and, sensing the thumb-thick chain, a flash of anger crossed her mind, and her expression became colder.

”Do you know where the key is?” Beisitian asked in a low voice.

Tian Zhi nodded, then realized she couldn’t see and quickly said, ”It’s on that fat guy!” He remembered that after locking him up, the fat guy tucked the key into his pocket.

”Cousin, did you come to find me?” Tian Zhi asked, his voice a touch excited.

Although he had been trapped in this dark place for less than two hours, it felt like centuries to him. The cramped, dark space with a musty smell was nauseating, and the scariest part was that he felt he was going to die soon.

He clearly remembered hearing those people say they would drain his blood!

Before Beisitian could speak, Wei Zhongxun said snappily from the side, ”Nonsense, if we weren’t here to rescue you, do you think we’d be stuck here?”

Tian Zhi wasn’t fazed by his rude attitude; knowing Beisitian came to rescue him filled him with deep gratitude. Under such circumstances, he desperately needed even a little warmth and solace.

Now that he knew she specifically came to rescue him, he suddenly felt choked up, but he swallowed it down. After all, he was a nineteen-year-old man; how could he cry in front of a woman? If his cousin saw him in such a state, she would definitely laugh at him!

He was indeed scared, but the choking wasn’t out of fear. It was the warmth that surged in the cold darkness that made his nose tingle.

Seeing Beisitian’s continued silence, Wei Zhongxun, unsure of her thoughts, asked, ”What are you doing? Don’t tell me you’re scared to death, trembling?”

He certainly knew Beisitian wasn’t trembling out of fear; if she were, she wouldn’t have waited until now.

”I’m thinking, what medicine should I make to get us out?” Beisitian had resolved upon touching the thumb-thick chain.

If they were truly looking for a successor, they wouldn’t treat Tian Zhi this way. They likely intended to use Tian Zhi for some drug-making, so they wouldn’t let them live. Besides, Wei Zhongxun had already revealed he was from the Wei Family, so even to avoid backlash from the Wei Family uniting other families against them, they wouldn’t let these two leave alive.

What is truly terrifying about the Wei Family’s reprisal is the exposure it would bring, as the military is no mere display!

In the darkness, Wei Zhongxun shrugged, ”To be honest, I’ve always wanted to see you make a talisman, but such things are only seen between close mystic doctors. Even me offering myself to you feels a bit awkward to mention. Now, even if you want to make a talisman for me to see, without a talisman medium, brush, or talisman paper, how are you going to make it?”

Beisitian’s calm voice resonated in the darkness, ”The brush can be replaced with blood, and the talisman paper with clothing.”

Wei Zhongxun almost laughed, ”I know you’re formidable, but the chances of making a talisman with those two items are extremely low. Besides, even if you have this ability, what will you use as a talisman medium? Improvise on the spot? Even if a talisman is made, all our matches and lighters were confiscated. How will you burn it to ashes?”

These problems are very realistic; they can’t simply be solved by imagination, even for someone as skilled as Beisitian!

”I don’t need those things,” was all Beisitian said before falling silent again.

Wei Zhongxun was a bit skeptical. How could a mystic doctor not need those items? Yet he knew Beisitian wasn’t talking nonsense, thinking there might be another way?

Even so, he struggled to convince himself to believe; after all, these things can’t appear out of thin air.

Making a talisman with cloth involves particular techniques. Rough symbols drawn without continuity can’t form a talisman, so it has to be done delicately.

After pondering, Beisitian realized only the inner layer of her delicate clothing would work. She was accustomed to wearing a soft undershirt over her bra, for comfort and fit, making it ideal for talisman creation.

She would have to bite her finger to produce blood, ensuring the wound doesn’t heal during the process. This was manageable by making the cut a bit bigger...

With that thought, Beisitian began taking action. In such darkness, she didn’t have to worry about being seen while undressing. She made a small cut in one spot, then tore a strip off.

Upon hearing the sound, Wei Zhongxun promptly asked, ”Are you really planning to make a talisman?”
