Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 50: Chapter 50 Contradiction

”Wang Wei, what do you mean by helping outsiders? Stop messing around by fabricating relationships!” Song Xiaoyang’s face was covered with frost as the girls around the table, except Luo Ye, were all trying to ingratiate themselves with Yang Xing, looking flirtatious which infuriated Song Xiaoyang. Wang Wei unwittingly became the scapegoat.

”Xiao Yang...” Wang Wei’s voice carried a tone of indescribable grievance: ”We’ve been classmates for so many years, my maternal aunt and your mom are sisters, aren’t we like family?”

Song Xiaoyang responded with disgust, ”You said it yourself, it’s your maternal aunt who is sisters with my mom, not your mom. Why are you creating baseless closeness?”

”Xiao Yang...”

”Cough cough...” Right when the ”Xiao Yang” came out, Luo Ye immediately felt goosebumps and started choking violently on her soup. It was unexpected for Wang Wei, the playboy at school, to act so effeminately—it was an eye-opener!

She’s always complained that her brother Luo Feng wasn’t manly enough. No, she had to go home and praise her brother immediately; real manliness needs comparison!

Seeing Luo Ye in severe coughs, Liu Xing wanted to help pat her back but retracted his hand mid-air. Song Xiaoyang actively went behind Luo Ye and gently soothed her back, ”Luo Ye, such a pig is disgusting, you’ll get used to it!”

”Xiao Yang, why are you taking her side?” Wang Wei’s face, already bruised, turned a deep purplish-red. He cursed inwardly—if only his mom hadn’t told him about the family’s situation and asked him to woo Song Xiaoyang, he really wouldn’t have bothered!

”How can you think of bullying such a cute little sister? This shows how despicable you are, Wang Wei. Don’t ever say again that we are classmates or relatives; I feel ashamed!” Although Song Xiaoyang was speaking, her hands didn’t stop their soothing motion.

”Thanks, I’m fine now!” Luo Ye smiled at Song Xiaoyang; her face was flushed from the severe coughing, eyes watery, with her naturally red lips looking enticingly brilliant red. Song Xiaoyang sincerely complimented, ”Luo Ye, even I, as a girl, am attracted by you. How about, I take you as my god-sister? I feel a special connection when I see you!”

Yang Xing wore a helpless expression, ”Xiaoyang, isn’t this asking too much? It’s our first meeting, and there’s still so much we don’t know. How’s Luo Ye supposed to respond?”

Luo Ye smiled sweetly, ”Not at all, sister Xiaoyang considering taking me as her god-sister is wonderful. I could really use an elder sister to dote on me!”

Song Xiaoyang smiled and gestured to Liu Xing, ”Liu Xing, would you mind swapping seats? I’d love to chat with Luo Ye more intimately!”

”Liu Brother, come over!” Wang Xiaoping happily waved at Liu Xing; Song Xiaoyang’s original spot was right next to her, obviously, Wang Xiaoping was more interested in sitting next to a handsome guy.

Luo Ye pretended to casually sip her tea. OMG, each one of them is either coy or startled—how is one supposed to live like this? Her Dou Dou is more mature than these kids!

But then again, considering the eight people at the table, only Wang Wei and Wang Xiaoping were unreliable. The others were quite well-mannered and cultured.

As for the girls’ enthusiasm and the boys’ desire to show off since Yang Xing’s arrival, it could be seen as adolescent impulses. Most sitting here were well-matched in social and economic status, unlikely to fall for wrong emotions and face parental censure. Such arrangements, isn’t it also giving the younger generation a chance to mingle and see eye to eye?

Song Xiaoyang was an honored guest, and Liu Xing didn’t want to disregard his face, reluctantly sat down next to Wang Xiaoping. Seeing Wang Xiaoping move her chair closer to him, he hastily shifted his chair towards Yang Xing’s spot, causing the three chairs nearly to squeeze together.

Yang Xing frowned slightly, ”This table is quite spacious; there’s no need for us all to cram to one side, right? It’s not like we’re watching a performance!”

Wang Xiaoping sheepishly moved his chair outwards and, seeing Luo Ye laughing at them, glared back at her, ”Ye Zi, what are you pretending for? Be careful, or I’ll tell Pan Yan about how you are now, and she’ll come after you!”

”Sure, go ahead. I’d be interested to know how she would react when you tell her how you’ve seen me,” Luo Ye replied with a light smile, her dimples flickering mildly.

”I... I’ll say I met you on the street!”

”Suit yourself!”

Song Xiaoyang furrowed his brows, ”Wang Xiaoping, jealousy won’t make you prettier than Luo Ye!” Looking at Luo Ye, he asked, ”Who is this Pan Yan she mentioned?”

”She is a businessman’s daughter, always bullying me!” Luo Ye spoke as if telling someone else’s story.

Yang Xing gently tapped on the table a few times, ”A businessman’s daughter, Luo Ye, you’re too kind. Do you need help dealing with her?”

”Oh, how would you handle it?” A mocking smile lingered in Luo Ye’s downward gaze. In Yang Xing’s eyes, he might think she was too shy to look at him, not knowing that she neither wanted nor was willing to see his face.

”You don’t need to worry about that; it will be legitimate and legal, but I must ask for your opinion!” Yang Xing smiled warmly, ”Respecting girls is right.”

”Yang Xing, Luo Ye is my sister; why do you need to intervene? If anyone should do something, it should be me!” Song Xiaoyang wore a displeased expression.

”Are you not returning to the province tomorrow? I’ll be staying in Island City for good, which makes it more convenient for me. Besides, isn’t your sister my sister too?” Yang Xing chuckled and patted Song Xiaoyang, ”Are you afraid I’ll steal your sister?”

”Yang Xing...”

While Song Xiaoyang was busy arguing with Yang Xing, Liu Xing leaned toward Luo Ye, ”Luo Ye, I’ve heard something about your past, how about I pick you up from school?”

”Liu Xing, thank you, but there’s no need!” Luo Ye gently refused with a smile, she had no intention of befriending or hurting him.

”What’s going on?” Suddenly, Liu Xing’s older brother Liu Yuan came over. He was six years older than Liu Xing, graduated from university a year ago and currently works in the tax department, which is why today, Liu Zhengxing had him seated at the main table.

”Brother, nothing is going on, Yang Xing and Song Xiaoyang are discussing how to help Luo Ye!” Liu Xing quickly stood up to reply to his brother, whom he greatly feared.

”Hello, Brother Yuan!”

”Hello, Brother Yuan!”

”...”

Everyone quickly greeted Liu Yuan, except Luo Ye, Yang Xing, and Song Xiaoyang.

”Little Yezi, what exactly is going on?” Liu Yuan looked at Luo Ye, a knowing smile playing on his lips, ”My mom told me how pretty Little Ye’er has become, I didn’t believe it at first, but now it seems, a young girl really does change as she grows. Did classmates bully you because you became beautiful?”

”No!” Luo Ye responded with a light smile.

”Brother, it’s like this...” Liu Xing quickly reported the recent happenings to his brother. Luo Ye inwardly sighed, wondering how the two brothers could be so different.
