”What... what did you say? Say that again!” Su Yan ”whooshed” to her feet from the bossʼs chair, her eyes sharply focusing on Jiang Na, who was standing with her head bowed across from her.

Jiang Na shrank a bit and repeated: ”President Wenʼs daughter asked Yu Jia to find the companyʼs account books for the past two years and to bring them to President Wenʼs office!”

”The audacious little brat, not even fully weaned yet, and sheʼs trying to shit around my neck, this is going too far!” Su Yan suddenly glared at Jiang Na: ”Why are you telling me this just now?”

”President Luo has been... always been watching in the finance department, I was concerned about arousing her suspicions and didnʼt... didnʼt dare come out!” Jiang Na nervously watched Su Yan gripping her cup, afraid that the latter would hurl it at her.

”President Luo? What kind of President Luo is she? Who knows if the email in the inbox was sent by the audacious brat on her own initiative, or if it was sent by Wen Xin!”

Jiang Na gave Su Yan a surprised look and quickly lowered her head.

Su Yan pressed Jiang Na: ”What, you think itʼs not appropriate for me to call Wen Xin by her name?”

”No... Nope!” Sweat gathered on Jiang Naʼs forehead.

”Besides the initial capital investment, what has Wen Xin done? Human resources, finance, business, public relations, administration, etc., isnʼt it all under my care? If it werenʼt for me, Wenxin Garden would have been long gone!

Now that the children have grown up and the company has developed, they want to kill the donkey once it has done its job? Using the little girlʼs hand to check my accounts, isnʼt that too heartless?

Does she think the company can still operate without me? Donʼt forget, 98% of the companyʼs employees were brought in by me, Su Yan. If I got mad, I could just start a company right opposite hers and compete directly!” In her agitation, Su Yanʼs face contorted with anger.

Jiang Na gathered her courage to persuade: ”Sister, maybe... maybe President Wen doesnʼt know about this at all!”

Su Yan ”hmphed”: ”Doesnʼt know? Do you think a sixteen-year-old girl would have the cunning to check the accounts? Also, if she didnʼt know, why would Wen Xin choose today to be away? Sheʼs clearly creating an opportunity for her daughter to act out!”

”Why are you not speaking?”

”I...”

”Scared? Iʼm your cousin. Since the day I brought you into this company and put you in the finance department, youʼre tied to the same stake as me. If Iʼm gone, do you think you can stay here?”

”Sister, do you think... do you think she will notice anything?” Jiang Na looked at Su Yan with a face full of panic: ”What if... What do we do?”

Su Yan gave a sidelong glance: ”What if? What what if? Weʼve always been operating legally, thereʼs not a single problem with that account, even if an expert came to inspect, they would find nothing wrong!”

”Sister, you mean, except for me?”

”What are you guessing at? I didnʼt mean anything, you just keep doing your job well!”

”But...”

Su Yan said irritably: ”Have I ever lied to you?”

”Sister, you just said about us doing it ourselves, when...”

”I was just speaking out of anger, you take that seriously? Why donʼt the industrial and commercial tax authorities trouble Wenxin Garden? Itʼs because Wen Xinʼs husband is the Executive Vice Mayor. If it was just us, we wouldnʼt have such peace of mind even if we visited the public relations department daily, got it?” Su Yan took a breath and sat down: ”Trying to fight with me? Sheʼs still too green!”

Jiang Na, utterly confused, looked at Su Yan who seemed like a different person: ”Sister... are you... not angry anymore?”

”What do I have to be angry about? Iʼve already thought of a plan...” Su Yan motioned her over, and Jiang Na leaned in close to whisper, Jiang Na murmured: ”Will they... cooperate?”

”What do you say?” Su Yan took out a list from the drawer and handed it to Jiang Na: ”You know what to do, right?”

”Got it! Got it!” Jiang Na nodded her head and backed out of the office, only wiping the sweat off her forehead after turning the corner. She had always been afraid of her cousin.

...

After flipping briefly through the account book that was delivered, Luo Ye tossed it aside. She thought for a while and dialed Tang Luoʼs home phone. A middle-aged womanʼs inquiring voice came from the other end, and Luo Ye hurriedly greeted with a smile: ”Auntie, hello, Iʼm Tang Luoʼs classmate, Luo Ye. Is she at home?”

”She is, she is, hold on a second, Auntie will call her for you!” As the footsteps receded, there came a muttering voice: ”Tang Luo, Luo Ye, tsk tsk, these two kids must have some fate...”

”Luo Ye, what do you need me for?” Tang Luoʼs voice came over, clear and melodious like a bubbling spring.

”Tangtang, do me a favor...”

After hanging up the phone, a perfect arc formed at the corner of Luo Yeʼs mouth. The monitor showed images of the employees constantly reporting to Su Yanʼs office. Hehe... she did it on purpose, showing an angry young grass persona to infuriate the other party, and sure enough, theyʼve started to act? But this action seems to be to her liking!

”Ring ring ring...”

The urgent ringing of the phone startled Luo Ye. Thatʼs it, tomorrow she has to replace Momʼs phone with a prettier and gentler one. This sound could give someone a heart attack! Geez!

”Is that Yeʼer?”

Luo Ye picked up the phone, and the anxious voice of Luo Feng immediately came through.

”Brother, itʼs me, whatʼs wrong?” Luo Ye teased with a giggle: ”Didnʼt you tell me that youʼre having so much fun you forgot to come home tonight?”

”Yeʼer, stop joking with brother. Brother needs your help. Hurry and borrow 300 yuan from Momʼs company and come to Little Green Islandʼs Moonlight Restaurant!” Luo Fengʼs voice was tinged with frustration.

Luo Yeʼs face sank: ”Did you get ripped off?”

”No, itʼs... itʼs a mix-up with the order, sigh, itʼs a long story. Yeʼer, only you can help me. Donʼt let Dad find out; he will kill me!” Luo Fengʼs voice was almost in tears.

”Alright, alright, wait there for me, Iʼll rush over as fast as I can!” Luo Ye hung up the phone, counted the money in her pocket, 121 yuan, and then searched through all the drawers and cabinets in the Wenxin office, scraping together 82 yuan. With no other choice, she wrote a promissory note and went to the finance office.

”Jiang Na, give me five hundred yuan in cash. Hereʼs the promissory note; Iʼll have my mom settle it tomorrow!”

”Okay, just a moment!” Jiang Na quickly took out 500 yuan from the safe and handed it to Luo Ye: ”Count it!”

”Mm, just right!” Luo Ye glanced at it and hurriedly rushed out.

”She really is just a kid!”

”Yeah, yeah, so stern this morning. She must have been copying from TV shows and movies, trying to scare us. Hehe, she gave herself away, didnʼt she?”

”Do you think she borrowed money to go shopping for clothes?”

”I think she might have gone to buy some good food?”

...

After Luo Ye ran out, Jiang Na, Wang Dan, and Ma Yanli in the finance office started gossiping, and Yu Jia looked at them and said: ”No matter what, you are all earning your keep under her momʼs leadership!”

”Pfft, saintly behavior!” Jiang Na muttered and, after locking the drawers, went to Su Yanʼs office.
