Bear School Astartes

The temporarily weakened Tishaya, made fragile by the world environment, was set aside for now.

Lann joined the team researching the [Fog Nest Master].

The craftsmen who had been waiting on the outskirts of the Workshop District swiftly began to construct makeshift flooring.

Because the forty-meter-long Terror Tyrannosaurus, even though its body was lying sideways, had a thickness of seven or eight meters.

The researchers needed tools to climb up and down to access it from the other side.

So next to the [Fog Nest Master’s] corpse, the first activity to start was actually construction work.

The arena looked more like a construction site than a research site.

However, researchers from all departments seemed accustomed to it.

After all, for those who have long researched the world’s monsters, the larger the monster’s size, the more complex the research becomes, and the research site resembles a construction site even more.

Lann took the lead by using the claw of the projector on his arm guard to climb onto the corpse of the Terror Tyrannosaurus. He successfully found the familiar wound he had cut.

After a bit of probing, he took the conical crystal in hand and placed it back into the alchemy pouch at his lower back.

The ’construction site’ was built for about twenty minutes, and the craftsmen from the Workshop District truly lived up to their elite status.

They were not only familiar with weapon making, but many had even collaborated with the Dragon Calendar Institute and the Scholar Team before coming to the New Continent.

Thus, they knew exactly how to set up research equipment.

The scholars and researchers could hardly wait, rushing to the makeshift floors to start writing and drawing in their notebooks around the [Fog Nest Master]’s corpse.

”How did it grow so big?”

The director of the Ecological Research Institute trembled with emotion.

”The short-lived Terror Tyrannosaurus reaching this size... Ah, while seeing such a special individual excites me, thinking about the significant ecological disruption it caused to reach this stage makes me uneasy.”

Researchers began measuring the exact body dimensions of the [Fog Nest Master], collecting small samples from various parts of its corpse for documentation.

Tishaya’s magic had compressed the originally scattered chaos magic power within the [Fog Nest Master] into its body. Even if a cut was made, the chaos magic power wouldn’t spill out but remain trapped within the body’s tissues, not interacting with external entities.

Thus, using knives or hands posed no problem.

Lann had no particular opinion about the director of the Ecological Research Institute’s sentiment.

”I suggest opening up its stomach pouch for research first, as that’s where the curse mainly takes effect.”

The Demon Hunter professionally suggested, also because the Terror Tyrannosaurus’s stomach pouch was one of the powerful organs he highly valued.

”It can absorb the nutrients of creatures killed by the cursed Fog Demon out of thin air for digestion. This expanded its hunting range to include smaller creatures.”

”Let me handle it. If even the stomach pouch, the crucial area of curse accumulation, is manageable, then the other parts will be even less problematic.”

”Then we can delicately dismantle it into pieces, allowing nature to degrade it, or see if we can craft a few sets of equipment from it.”

The old man from the Douding Dragon Race nodded approvingly, shakily patting Lann’s leg.

”Makes sense, makes sense. Come, let’s head to its front and open up its abdominal cavity.”

Saying this, the old man couldn’t wait, swiftly stepping on the ’thud-thud-thud’ makeshift flooring toward the [Fog Nest Master]’s frontal area.

A crowd of excited and curious researchers busied themselves up and down the enormous corpse, darting around.

At this moment, in the researchers’ eyes, there was no director or class president.

Everyone was thrilled by the unprecedented gigantic Terror Tyrannosaurus.

Generally, ancient dragons like the Flame King Dragon and Extinct Dragon have a body length typically controlled between twenty to twenty-two meters.

This is the ideal size suited to their mobility and ecological habits.

It’s also the size that best showcases their combat abilities; larger bodies would instead make them clumsy.

For large ancient dragons, the standard set by the Hunter’s Guild is a length above thirty-five meters.

Although it seems that the standard only increases the body length by ten meters, the size of a creature is calculated by volume.

The ten-meter-long increase translates into a cubic increase in volume!

The average body length of African elephants and lions is roughly a twofold relationship, but when they stand together, their volume relationship is... notably obvious.

And for the super-large ancient dragons above that, you have the likes of the Molten Mountain Dragon and Serpent King Dragon, a category beyond measure, possibly impossible to estimate any upper limit.

However, regardless, the forty-meter length of the [Fog Nest Master] Terror Tyrannosaurus is exceptionally unusual anywhere.

Lann and his team reached the front, the Demon Hunter moved forward, tying a thick rope to the relatively short and slender front limbs of the Terror Tyrannosaurus, then threw it back over the corpse.

Wende and Little Jack caught it on the other side, pulled hard to the rear, and tied the rope to a fixed post.

This action forced the corpse’s two front limbs to spread outward, revealing the front of the chest cavity.

Two researchers, gritting their teeth, laboriously brought over a considerably large-sized blade with a fine, thin edge, even sharp to the point of being somewhat fragile.

Lann removed his gloves and arm guard, flexed his fingers, enhanced his muscle awareness, and very steadily grasped this oversized scalpel in his hands.

These are knives prepared for the dissection and research of large monsters, along with several spare blades.

To ensure the cut is smooth and neat, the durability of the blades has to be sacrificed.

Although the researchers were reluctant to move away, a space was already cleared around Lann.

This is to ensure that when cutting open the Fog Nest Master’s stomach sac, the most malignant part, no outsiders will be hurt.

After picking up the specially designed scalpel, Lann tilted his head from side to side, allowing himself to fully observe the Fog Nest Master’s current posture and the expected cutting position.

”Mentos, start the surgical positioning assist.”

”Deploying...deployment complete. Additionally, I have selected the most stable plan out of the seven available schemes and uploaded it as a dissection suggestion. Please review, sir.”

The tone of the biochemical AI, tuned by Lann to speak in an affected manner, explained methodically.

After a brief glance at the edge of his retina, Lann already understood the plan provided by Mentos.

At the same time, in his field of vision, the biochemical AI also provided images of the Fog Nest Master’s skeletal alignment and muscle distribution as references.

With the assistance of the biochemical AI, the whole surgical process can maintain a clear and smooth thought flow.

As the blade cuts into the flesh, accompanied by a slippery slicing sound, Lann, under the watchful eyes of the researchers and scholars, explores deep into the Fog Nest Master’s body.

The dark green tough exterior is full of scabs and grime, remnants of frenzied feeding by the Terror Tyrannosaurus.

As he delved deeper, the robust muscles had swelled madly under the Terror Tyrannosaurus’s skyrocketing metabolism.

Fortunately, it was dead now, and these muscle masses were in a slack state without tension. Otherwise, even under Lann’s mastery of swordsmanship, the sharp yet fragile blades would wear out faster.

”I am now bypassing its abdominal vascular network. This area does not differ markedly from a regular Terror Tyrannosaurus. Next, I need to find its stomach sac...”

With blood spurting, Lann maintained an unbroken gaze while explaining his cutting strategy to the scholars and researchers behind him, facilitating their record analysis.

Finally, after relentless probing, Lann almost stretched his entire arm, along with the large scalpel, inside when he reached his target.

Ever since Tishaya finished casting the magic that sealed the Chaos Magic Power, the Roaring Bear Head Pendant on the Demon Hunter’s neck bounced up for the first time.

The stomach sac is indeed where the Fog Nest Master’s chaos magic power had twisted into a curse.

”Give me a hook, I need to pull out its stomach; it’s too deep in here!”

Without turning his head, Lann shouted, and soon a long-handled surgical hook the thickness of a crowbar was handed over.

Luckily, the vitality of the New Continent creatures is unusually robust.

Researchers at the Ecological Research Institute often dissect and study the monsters caught by hunters, and then release them without any issues.

The damage from a dissection would recover as if they merely took a nap.

So the tools used here for dissecting monsters always followed such principles.

As for the Fog Nest Master, it’s simply a corpse requiring harmless disposal, so there’s no need for caution.

With blood spurting, along with the stink and tang of the internal organs.

Lann yanked the stomach sac from the depths of the chest cavity to the opening, exposing it.

Deflated and tightly contracted, the person-sized stomach sac appeared tough and elastic, spontaneously emitting a magical glow.

Yet the bold scholars driven by curiosity who approached noticed that they did not feel inexplicably uncomfortable.

This indicates the Magic Power remains locked.

”Quick!”

The elderly Douding Dragon Race member seemed to gasp as if almost unable to catch their breath.

”Take it down! Save for research!”

The massive stomach sac was severed from its internal connection by Lann. He rolled up the highly elastic stomach sac and placed it into the organ storage box prepared beside.

The Fog Nest Master’s stomach appeared extremely hollow, hence its contraction.

Does this suggest that the quantity of meat ’hunted’ by the cursed Fog Demon, the proteins and fats, were not directly ’transported’ into its stomach?

But directly converted into magic power and remotely transmitted inside? Thus, the stomach seems as if it’s been empty for a long time.

After all, Chaos Magic Power compared to solid flesh occupies far less space, unable to stretch such a large stomach.

As Lann thought, he pinched a large folded flap of stomach flesh with his fingers.

Which means...

The Demon Hunter’s amber cat eyes flickered with contemplation.

He lifted his eyes to the prowled Terror Tyrannosaurus, its eyes, dim and yellow, diminished.

...it has evolved to not only use stomach sacs to digest substance nutrients but even directly digest magic?

Terrifying creature.
