Bear School Astartes

Compared to Lann’s physique, the greatsword held by the Demon Hunter still appeared large.

The entire body stepped on the Terror Tyrannosaurus’s back, like a fully drawn bow.

Opportunities in the battlefield often vanish in a blink.

Lann merely used foresight to penetrate the next move of the Terror Tyrannosaurus, gaining a brief opportunity for himself.

The three-stage progression in the greatsword technique [Charging Slash]—[Strong·Charged Slash]—[True·Charged Slash] is impossible.

Time is completely inadequate.

But the three-stage fighting spirit burst within [Charging Slash], elevating the power to its maximum, barely fits within this time frame.

The greatsword, covered in fighting spirit light flame and itself showing cracks with fire bursting from the fissures, suddenly crashed down amidst the howling wind!

”Clang~~~”

A prolonged and resonant clash echoed.

The wide and splendid sword blade first compressed, slicing into the Terror Tyrannosaurus’s rear like a mountain of flesh, into the exceptionally swollen and bulging shoulder and neck muscles.

The sound of tearing flesh and the sound of blood spraying under the pressure of strong muscles mingled into one.

But because Lann already controlled the direction of the wound when swinging the sword, these effects did not extend to him.

Whether it was due to his concern for appearance in battle, or out of cautiousness, this behavior ultimately ensured Lann’s safety.

”Aoo!!!”

The Terror Tyrannosaurus abruptly howled in pain.

The breath that hadn’t finished spraying was directly interrupted, swallowed back into its throat!

Its long body suddenly lifted up, tightening skyward.

The blood foam spewing from its back, due to the dragon attribute energy, had already transformed from its original bright red to a black with deep red electric light!

The pain involved in causing such an explosive change in its blood in such a short time is chilling just to think about.

The burst of fighting spirit increased the physical damage, while [Remaining Fire] made the sword blade slicing into the flesh capable of directly burning the soul!

Lann jumped off as the Terror Tyrannosaurus painfully raised its head.

But even after achieving victory in a split-second confrontation without any harm to himself, and the enemy’s breath being forced back, Lann’s expression didn’t improve.

Still heavy with a trace of enthusiastic excitement, he looked at the Terror Tyrannosaurus howling at the sky, once again dispersing the storm briefly with its roar.

Unconsciously, a fierce smile appeared at the corner of Lann’s mouth.

”Due to the curse, the souls of the prey hunted by Fog Demons got burned in front of [Remaining Fire]. And the dragon attribute energy on the greatsword is... formidable!”

[Remaining Fire] itself is a flame that uses souls as fuel, and against the Terror Tyrannosaurus that never faced such an attack, it should have had an advantage and achieved success in one strike.

Yet it is still due to the curse.

This distorted and abnormal form of chaos magic power grants spiritual defense to the Terror Tyrannosaurus, which originally had nothing to do with the soul.

The blood and fat from the prey were extracted by the curse and sent to the Terror Tyrannosaurus’s stomach.

And those souls were sent along with it.

When [Remaining Fire] started burning on the Terror Tyrannosaurus’s wound, those souls charged up to bear the brunt of the burning.

This made Lann more convinced of the New Continent creatures’ ridiculously peculiar evolution capabilities...

Letting this oversized Terror Tyrannosaurus continue feeding like this under the Fog Demons’ curse, won’t it one day manage to digest souls as nourishment?

This absurdly massive forty-meter physique might just be unconsciously absorbing souls during semi-spirit body transformation, causing it to swell.

On the other hand... Lann looked down at his greatsword’s blade surface, which because it absorbed the Terror Tyrannosaurus’s flesh, gained nutrition and activated the dragon attribute energy.

It was still disproportional in size.

At the time, he sliced into the neck and back muscles of the Terror Tyrannosaurus, at least a third of the blade depth, yet only a small section was emitting dragon attribute energy.

Again, due to semi-spirit body transformation.

This Terror Tyrannosaurus’s body was no longer purely flesh, so although [Muddy Stream·Destruction] ’consumed’ high-quality, it ’consumed’ in small quantities.

In the data from the New Continent Investigation Team, the Terror Tyrannosaurus mainly showed weakness in coping with thunder and dragon attribute energy.

Which means weak against thunder and dragon.

The weak thunder belongs to the biological characteristics of the Terror Tyrannosaurus, and the investigation team’s Ecological Research Institute wasn’t too obsessed about it.

But the weakness to dragon attribute is quite research-worthy because the Terror Tyrannosaurus itself is capable of using dragon attribute energy to attack.

Why would it suffer amplified damage from the energy it can use?

Later, the Douding Dragon Race old man from the Ecological Research Institute provided a hypothesis.

Perhaps a significant portion of the dragon attribute energy inside the Terror Tyrannosaurus wasn’t self-generated, but accumulated from excessive consumption of dragons.

Enduring these energies is already quite burdensome for its body, so if externally inflicted with more dragon attribute damage...

Internal-external synergy would naturally be effective.

Yet now, the Terror Tyrannosaurus’s body was already semi-spirit body transformed, without any intention of attack, even leaving no footprints on the ground while standing.

The massive amount of dragon attribute energy within its body, which would normally overload a flesh and blood body, now likely has no impact at all.

Thus, Lann’s [Muddy Stream·Destruction] which can also release dragon attribute energy, completely loses its attribute advantage against it.

Undoubtedly, this makes the battle more difficult.

But after getting rid of the annoying dense fog and the noisy, cumbersome Fog Demons.

Lann, who has already started to immerse himself in hunting and combat, enjoying the battle of iron and blood... does not care.

The giant Terror Tyrannosaurus was struck by a sword on its thick neck and back muscles, as strong as a small mountain, causing its upper body to slam down.

Crying out in pain, it rolled away to create some distance.

But immediately, the nature of this maddened creature revealed itself.

There was practically not even half a second of pause.

After rolling and getting up, it immediately raised its entire body!

Standing on one foot, its entire elongated body was lifted as high as possible to add gravity to its muscle strength for maximum damage when it crashes down.

The upper body of the upright Terror Tyrannosaurus, with those dim yellowish eyes filled with a painful daze and frenzied ferocity.

Still stubbornly, staring intently at its opponent!

No, to the Terror Tyrannosaurus, there was no concept of ’opponent’... only food!

Following that, its whole mouth, lined with chaotic teeth and even pushing out its outer lips, crashed down on Lann like the most brutal pile driver!

The Demon Hunter nimbly and accurately leapt back a great distance.

The enormous head of the Terror Tyrannosaurus crashed right in front of him, shards of exploded stone and splinters whisking past his hair and ears.

But just as the Terror Tyrannosaurus watched him, the Demon Hunter was also watching his prey.

A quiet flame ignited in the palm of the Demon Hunter’s left hand.

Then, the small flame, enhanced by magic shaping, began to surge!

[Curse Technique·Jet Dragon Flame]!

After understanding Evil Dragon Smaug’s dragon flame through the residual flames on [Muddy Stream·Destruction], Lann had already adjusted his Curse Fire to achieve a similar effect to the dragon flame of Evil Dragon.

A huge impact burst forth from the flames.

The overwhelming heat and impact forced the Terror Tyrannosaurus, which had just crushed a crustal plate with its massive jaws, to suddenly loosen its grip, then staggered back.

Of course, the Terror Tyrannosaurus, thinking only of ’eating’, would not retreat.

It swayed its body, its thick tail swinging to regain balance and prepared to attack again.

But at this moment... ”Whoosh” sound was heard.

In the land-based typhoon that never ceased for a moment, suddenly appeared the loud beating of wings.

The sound of these wing beats was indeed non-trivial and powerful. According to Mentos’s instant calculation, it would take a creature with at least a wingspan of over twenty meters to flap such a sound.

The facts in the next moment confirmed the biomech’s calculation.

A quadruped with two wings, its scaly skin in grayish-green with occasional red stripes, appeared on the horizon not far away, heading straight for this place.

”Roar!!!”

It swooped down from the sky, its throat flickering with flames.

Just like when Smaug once ravaged Long Lake Town, flames spewed from its mouth, spreading forward as it flew.

Lann was preparing to pull back immediately, to retreat further and see what this unexpected arrival intended.

But inexplicably... ”Is it avoiding me?”

According to Mentos’s calculation and Lann’s expectation, the path of this dragon descending from the sky noticeably avoided Lann’s location.

Almost precisely skimming past the Demon Hunter, targeting the Terror Tyrannosaurus specifically.

”What’s that?” Margaret maintained the power of the typhoon streaming in from the sea while shouting a bit frantically, ”Another monster from the convergence of spheres? It’s crazy!”

And relatively free from bearing the pressure of maintaining spells, with clearer observation, Triss shook her head, shouting loudly amidst the storm the female warlocks conjured.

”That’s not a monster from the convergence of spheres, Margaret!”

”That’s a dragon! A true dragon!”

In this magic medieval world, creatures like pterosaurs and fin-tailed dragons are collectively referred to as dragon species.

The tanned leather of dragon species mostly refers to the hides made from such creatures.

But a dragon with four legs and two wings, possessing intelligence, capable of speaking human words, and learning and casting magic, is a true dragon.

Law-abiding Demon Hunters do not kill true dragons.

Because they are a native species of the world, not invasive harmful species. Also, they must be considered intelligent beings.

And now, this mysteriously sudden, with no prior noise as expected for its size, true dragon flew over from the mountain forest not far from the battlefield.

And it seemed to have a clear target, coming specifically to help deal with the Terror Tyrannosaurus.
